17:57 yes I did have Transformer toys when I was young. And then in 2020 when I got my first carbon tax I went out and bought earthrise. And I've been collecting ever since. The G1 look. I have about 50. Need about 50 or 60 more. I'm just collecting 1984 to 1986 and maybe a little 7.
Nice collection! Earthrise was a real cool line, I'm also liking the Studio Series 86 figures. I think for me my favorite G1 figures are the early autobot cars, but they are so fragile.
Those trading cards look horrible, they put the least amount of effort into making them. They could have at least have used the original trading cards as a template. I still have two left from my collection, Ravage and Thundercracker.
I like the idea of collector cards for the 40th anniversary, but the execution leaves something to be desired. Disappointing to see you end up getting so many duplicates from the same hobby box.
The foils of the original box art look sweet! I have a good number of the 1985 cards, although they aren't in the best of shape. I recall a local flea market had a table that had a box of them, and I think I dumped every cent I had into buying them. IIRC, there were no puzzle pieces in that set lol. Also no Season 3 or movie stuff since, you know, it predated Season 3 or the movie. They did have scenes from the cartoon, which for some reason annoyed me about as much as the puzzle pieces annoyed you. I really loved (and still do love) the box art for the toys.
The foils look soo good in hand. I wish they put in scenes from the cartoons in these new boxes! Those old cards were awesome, I didn't have any but I see them pop up for sale every so often. The old box art is great, a good nostalgic trip.
Hey, pretty cool to see these coming out! I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to illustrate some sketch cards for this set, pretty cool to see what else is in these packs.
@miffedakko9312 wow that's awesome! Unfortunately I wasn't able to pull a sketch in the 2 boxes I opened. Did you get a choice as to what Transformers you got to sketch? So cool!
Alls I can say about the brick toys - I give my kid modern transformers toys and all the arms and legs are scattered around the house immediately. Screw ball joints on kids toys
@andyrichter2714 I love the old tfs. I unfairly hated beast wars and later lines because they weren't the old die cast bricks, but man... some of these did not age well.
You should check out transformers tcg. The art is based on the g1 designs and it's seriously fantastic. Each pack comes with 1 holofoil character. Wave 2 has combiners you assemble. The flip side of each one has it's alt mode. It's the best transformers art I've ever seen.
@grog3514 I am kicking myself now. I passed up the chance to buy some cheap boxes on clearance from steelcity collectibles about a year ago. Really wish I bought some to open now.
@grog3514 I believe it was Rise of the Combiners and maybe Siege 1. I think 40 was the blowout price. Then it would go to 55 for awhile then dip low for sales. I kept waiting and finally they sold out.
I have three completed transformers cards sets, but these look like they put no effort into them and are an easy pass. Foil cards aren’t anything to get excited about.
This is a disappointment, they could have made the card art way better than just taking pictures of the toys. Trash, I got better cards with my toy transformers back in the day when they used to come with some of them.
I think the puzzle pieces are fun. You get a mini poster.
Especially when you have 9 card per page binder to put them in and line them up.. I think they’re cool too
@JSteez5024 yeah that would be fun.
I'm curious why you don't like ultra Magnus.

@supprr yeah some of them were.

Yes, they should have made maybe a few more small insert sets to give it more variety and guaranteed hits.
Bro sounds like he got traumatized by the 1986 movie. Honestly fair enough though lol
Too bad they don't have their tech specs numbers on the back of the cards.
I really wanted to buy a box, but just couldn't justify the price. They look great though
Ok the nostalgia just keeps flowing.... want want want...
Why did they have to put the 40th anni logo on each puzzle piece? They look terrible
I put the puzzles together and you are so right. It ruins the image.

They look nice but the small card size doesn't really let you appreciate the artwork.

I still have some of the the original set. Wow 40 years old already…huh? Are they worth anything?
Glad I ordered them for my store ❤
Really good video. I enjoyed watching it.
Where can I buy these they look so cool thank you.

honestly, really disappointed with these cards. I'm all for the nostalgia but I'd rather have MTG style holos and Pokemon style altart cards...
Dynamite dropped the ball on this set. No guaranteed hit in hobby boxes, no cool inserts. Alternate arts would have been awesome.

@@supprr do you remember which boxes they were and how much they wanted for them?

I love the box art..the card set is horrible..
Favorite Transformer was skyfire and inferno
I love Gears.
😭😭😭😭 I want to buy !!!!
If bumblejumper isnt a rare chase im disappointed

Horrible looking
you are just as bad as perceptor whinge whinge whinge(about the puzzle pieces)
@grimbonation4491 cmon you have to admit having 4 puzzle pieces in a pack is pretty bad :(
It really sucks to open a pack and two or three of the "cards" are really 1/9th of a card.
