That scene where Chucky is just pissed that he's stuck in the doll body and nothing is slowing him down, really freaked me out for a while when I was younger. Just that feeling of immenient doom and helplessness was pure nightmare fuel for me.
This is the quintessential Child's Play movie; iconic scenes and iconic theatrical poster. Chucky's line about the women drivers always makes me laugh lmao. Another great review, Cody!

Child's Play 2 is definitely one of the best horror sequels. However, I still prefer the first film. This also has my favorite Chucky as well. And I love how you pointed out in the beginning on how Chucky doesn't get the same level of respect as Freddy, Michael, and Jason, which he should. Great review.

Chucky isn’t at the level of Jason, Michael & Freddy, he’s second tier. That’s not a knock on the character but he didn’t have anywhere near the same level of impact that those three did. Don’t get me wrong you can have your own list and have whoever you want but in terms of iconise he’s not on their level.

Definitely my favorite movie of the entire Child's Play/Chucky franchise. I just love this Chucky more than all the others. The climax is so fucking cool and the whole setting at the factory was such a great idea. Chucky's appearance in this one is my favorite. This appearance of his is just the definitive look for him in my eyes. Seeing Chucky dismembered and brutally hurt by the things that essentially created him (the doll of course). Plus, I just love Chucky's anger in this movie. Nothing but uncontrollable volcanic rage. Like people say he was at his prime here, at least I believe so. Great review!

This is my favorite film in the franchise... chucky is more sadistic and the look of chucky is the best in the series and that factory scene is one of the best final act's in horror history.

Child's Play 2 is by far my favorite of the child's Play franchise and my 6th favorite horror movie of all time, they did everything right here and unfortunately the rest of the franchise has yet to match it

Child's Play 2 is my favorite horror sequel I loved that scene where he killed the teacher. Glad I don't have a mean teacher to lock me up for detention that lady is a hag! Can't wait for Cult of Chucky.

I'm a HUGE fan of the series and I love the shit out of Child's Play 2 but i'm still going to choose the first one over this film because its all where it started, it was filmed in my home city (Chicago), the school they show where Andy comes out with chucky is the school I went to as a kid, and I just love the creepiness of the whole film. Awesome review Cody!

Kyle is such a great character and her relationship with Andy is what really elevates this movie from the first imo (or at least one of the many reasons)

I wonder why they abandon the whole receding hair thing with Chucky as he turned more human in this one and the others after? It was so creepy how he was turning more into the look of Charles Lee Ray in part one. Yet here after he has spent too much time in the body, his hair is normal like when the doll war created.
Im not sure. They were always pretty subtle with it so most fans probably didnt even notice it

I just watched this for the first time. This was without a doubt one of the best Horror films I've ever seen. The finale was just completely insane... I loved it!
Childs Play 2 was the first Chucky movie I saw as as kid in 1996, it was rated 15 in the UK, so wasn't allowed to see the first one which was 18. I waited months for my 15th birthday to roll around before finally taking it off the video shelf to watch at home in all it's glory. I watched it by myself, it scared the shit out of me and it was awesome! Always loved all the animatronics too. Great video by the way!

Probably my favorite in the series. The Andy/ Kyle duo is so memorable. Chucky is the best he ever has been since, without cgi, or that new pretty face they've given him, or that new voice he has now that sounds nothing at all like it did in the original movies...
Anyways...so many disappointing changes since 2 and 3... But this one is the best imo

the best laugh is in the original. When Dr. Death tells Chucky that he has to transfer his soul into Andy. Loud and proud.

This is a rare instance where the sequel is better then the original... for one, chucky looks more menacing and the things i didnt like about the first one they corrected like the receding hairline chucky lol and i think using a "little person" with larger upscaled sets was totally noticeable in the first movie. The scene when chucky suffocates the guy in the BMW was my all time favorite chucky kill
Horror sequels are usually better than originals. They always add something new.

There's that one moment right after Chucky does the chant when Andy opens his eyes and looks up ... and for a split second I (as a thirteen-year-old watching the movie) thought holy shit, it worked: Andy is now Charles Lee Ray and he's going to start talking in Brad Dourif's voice. One of those cool little movie moments that you only get to experience once.
Gerrit Graham, who plays Andy's foster father, played Beef in the horror/comedy/musical The Phantom of the Paradise!

Well, there's actually an explanation but it's more visual when it comes to Chucky's revival that I picked up as a kid. Whenever a new Good Guy Doll gets created, that doll usually was made out of a piece from the older Chucky doll. Since, Chucky has been reduced to just a soul, it's attached to whatever piece of the doll. Ergo, reviving Chucky.
I started watching horror movies with my mom when I was 5, I’m 34 now and this is the only movie that gave me nightmares as a kid… Chucky is just ruthless in this movie.. it’s like he can’t be stopped and I felt that. lol
Same bro, I first watched it right after ninja turtles. My mom bought this and ninja turtles from blockbusters. I was around the same age and was scared shitless of this movie until I was like 9 or 10. Lol

Cody, I love the elevator scene also, I started laughing when I first heard Chucky say that one liner. Chucky is my man too, including Freddy and Michael. I have 3 favorites. It's hard to say which one is my top because I love them both, so i'm just gonna say I love them both. Great review
A huge reason this is my fav. Chucky movie is that it strikes the perfect balance appropriate for this kind of story. The first one sometimes takes itself too seriously. It feels kind of cold and drab at times too. The 3rd isn't as bad as some make it, but it was a bit of an odd one. The next two were really silly and the others didn't even feel like Chucky movies. This one is the right amount of fun and funny, keeping in mind that this is a toy killing people, but with the right amount of edge and real horror. Chucky seems the most organic in this one. It has lots of great visuals, and I don't know. It's for me, the perfect Chucky movie. Also, as a kid, I was really scared of being taken away from my parents. So, him dealing with this odd new foster family, it struck that nerve.
Also, you talk about the foster parents being an odd pairing, but I knew so many friends' parents who were like this. Sometimes the guy was even abusive, and the mom was just this sweet, meek woman.
I think as far as flaws go, the part where the doll builder guy gets electrocuted and u see really cheesy blue electricity coming out..also that whole idea makes no sense..Chucky doesn’t have powers..why the fuck would that happen? If he did, then ppl wouldn’t be able to just hurt him without some crazy thing like that happening.
Lightning was active when he was doing the video in the original I just see it as the same for his revival
Cody Leach yeah I guess his body being formed meant lightning had to be involved to show “he’s alive” like Frankenstein or something..I mean the idea is silly but you gotta keep in mind it is a movie where a guy puts his spirit in a doll and kills ppl..it’s a great idea but it’s so unrealistic it’s comical..which works since the movie has an edge of dark comic relief so it’s kind of aware of its self and doesn’t attempt to be too serious..it’s a perfect movie just like back to the future is or something..they’re both unrealistic as can be..and both use the blue 80s fucking lightning
But I realized that modern audiences are snobs with horror being realistic or not..I think that’s why monster horrors don’t exist anymore because especially younger ppl don’t appreciate a good horror story if it’s not realistic to them...like ppl believe in demons and ghosts so that’s all they ever make in horror currently. It’s a shame because that’s not what always makes a good horror film. I’m a big fan of The Twilight Zones and think that’s some of the greatest horror writing ever..they gotta start being imaginative with stories again..like IT by Stephen King was a huge success but it was a remake..if that came out today as something completely fresh and was that successful, it would definitely be a change in pace for what horror currently is.

Child's Play 2 is one of my favorite Chucky films. My favorite laugh is in CP2 when the truck deliver told Kyle, "What the fuck is wrong with you? Crazy bitch!" The Play Pals toy factory was a dangerous thing included these oil pits, the liquid plastic, a vast of plastic, etc.

Both Kyle and Grace Poole strongly resemble Karen Barclay and Maggie Peterson from the original film respectively. Like Karen, Kyle has short length blonde hair, while Grace, like Maggie, has brown permed hair. Like Maggie, Grace gets murdered by Chucky.
Even though I'm with you on Mancini, I do have to give him his due props here and there. The idea of having the finale in the doll factory was actually Mancini's idea, although it was for the first one.
My favorite....I usually just watch 1+2 and that's it. The following films didn't really capture what the first 2 did, but how could you expect them to anyway.

My favourite of them all, even if grew up with the original, this has everything you would want: amazing animations with practical effects? Check! Alex Vincent? Check! Deeper mistery with Chucky and also Tommy, even if he's not alive? Check! Somekind of protagonists must work with Chucky somehow with complications? Check! Ans Chucky i think he's at most human here, alright, here and in the original!
The only negative for me is the teacher's death. I always wished it was more brutal than a spanking and shown on camera. That's it. no other negative.

I really love how much they show Chucky as a puppet in this movie. I'm big on practical effects and I was super happy in scenes that had Chucky walking towards the camera

I had fun with this one! There were a lot of great things here! I loved the dynamic that Kyle and Andy had together and how Kyle kinda became a big sister to Andy. The kills, humor, suspense, and action all worked and were better here. However, I do prefer the first one as I liked the story and the supporting cast of characters in that one more than here. But nevertheless Child’s Play 2 delivers!
I loved it 2 as a true chucky fan!! The only element i missed from 1 is the fact that the longer chucky stayed in the doll ,he physically aged. Thats what made him look even creepier lol

Yes! Someone agrees with me. This to me is easily the best in the series. It's the most stylish. We get more Chucky and some great delivery by Brad Dourif. I love the kills. Andy & Kyle are great.

Lil trivia for you Cody did you know that the "Tommy " doll was actually a jab at Tom Holland the famous horror director that gave us the first child's play apparently him and don Mancini had a falling out so that's why they added the line "eat dirt Tommy.. hahahaha" 😂
The Tommy Good Guy doll was a jab towards Child's Play 1 Director Tom Holland. Who reportedly was difficult to work with behind the scenes & even tried taking credit for the film from Don Mancini
Awesome sequel, i saw this in theaters when i was 8 and i thought it surpsses the first one and it's a fast paced, well made, thrilling and badass sequel and i hope this year we get the CE treatment on blu-ray from Scream

One of the things i loved about this movie as a kid was the doll factory. I loved those scenes so much. And I loved Kyle because she was so cool and good to Andy.
that part where you said there are no negatives I was like oh yeah! This movie is great and even my sister's agree and it's my favorite too. chucky is great, Andy is great, Kyle is great, the music, the house. that house is awesome looking in my opinion, and I don't usually like kids, but Andy is a child that I can tolerate and I love. it is so hard not to feel sorry for him because we all know he's telling the truth and he's just trying to help, and he is one of the cutest kids I've ever seen, and Kyle is such a respectable character because not only is she a good actress but her character dresses like a normal innocent girl, where in most movies the older sister is usually promiscuous, but she wasnt. She proved that you can be beautiful without showing off your body. So yes I agree with everything you said

Actually now that i think about it, this was a sequel that held up, just like other horror franchise sequels (NOES part 3), but ONE THING ! what about the two detectives at the end the original 🤔 That to me is one major oversight by the filmakers. These two cops know that the doll really was possessed, and then they go off into Never Never to be seen again Land 😁🤔 wha?

Jenny Agutter from American Werewolf played the foster mom and it sucked to see her get killed, the dad [Gerritt Graham] was fair game. I liked the sister too played by Christine Elise aka Mrs. Jason Priestley, she never treated him cruelly or like a brat. She seemed to fully embrace being a big sister to the little boy.
The end scene in the factory in this movie reminds me of the original Terminator ending in the factory. I love the nod to that too. I just got this today. I've seen it for years online and had the original VHS but I finally got around to getting it.

Did you like the scenes especially at the end that were filmed in the toy factory? That's what makes this one stand out among of all the Child's Play movies to me. I agree with you about Brad Dourif and only Brad Dourf as Chucky which is what makes the TV show so great. By the way whose fucking idea was it to have Luke Skywalker as the voice in the 2019 remake. And to redesign the doll. Seriously, which is not understandable since the creators did play a part in it?

I like the child's play movie's. Child's play 2 is definitely one of the best horror movie sequel's. I love child's play 1 and 2. I think child's play 3, bride of chucky, curse of chucky and cult of chucky are pretty good. I didn't care for seed of chucky as much and I thought it could've been better. I also thought the child's play remake was alright. I'm not sure which one would be my favorite but I would probably say child's play 2.
