Three big moments: 1. Ric Flair returning 2. Dean Malenko becoming a Horseman ?long overdue) 3. The Four Horsemen reuniting! Still remember this night from start to finish.
I remeber watching this sitting on the edge of my bed with such anticipation. All my friends and family knew how much flair was my favorite wrestler. They were calling me on my house phone and talking to.me all day at school the following day.
Flair had been wrestling for 25 years at this point in 1998. Now we are 25 years away from this moment in 2023. Really puts into perspective how long Rics been at it. Its like a wrestler that started in 1998 still going today in 2023.
I was in the crowd in Greenville that night, and there has never been a pop for anyone as loud as that in the history of wrestling. That building was shaking.
@user-kg6tp9js9p while those were all exciting/good matches, Flair's return was the last moment that beat WWF in ratings. Nothing was able to bring in the fans again. Nothing had a pop like this either.
That was cause Flair was having heat with Bischoff over his contract. How the idea almost came to furution as far as Flair appearing was Unforgiven 98. Ric's youngest son Reid won the AAU Nationals, Ric was gonna be sitting in the front row, JR was gonna get in the ring and say quote "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a great wrestling champion, Ric Flair and his young son, Reid", and they were gonna congratulate Reid. But the idea got shot down by Jerry McDevitt and John Taylor, two of Vince McMahon's attourneys at the time.
@@anthonycampos8057 Oh yeah that part I left out by accident, oops lol. But yes, Ric was on the phone with Cornette, McDevitt and John Taylor and McDevitt and John Taylor wouldn't allow Ric to go inside.
Was just checking out some of your other videos and. 😂😂😅 I gotta day this is one of my most favorite Ric Flair Promos ever because he meant it that night he meant business. And on the real that is me at work sometimes 😂😂!!! Whenever I have just about had enough LMAO!
Long story short: with the unprecedented success of nwo, bischoff thought flair, and several other past mainstays weren't draws. Flair took a huge offense to that. 97, flair, and eb have bigger falling out over negotiations over flair contract, flair eventually returns (months later) and reforms Horsemen. Cuts promo.
@@GalacticWrestlingFederation100% correct but what makes this even better Karma was guys that EB wanted gone barely kept WCW afloat while on its last legs in 99-01 while WWF was destroying WCW.

I was there in person for this. The crowd was insane. Way more than it showed on TV.
Ah. A fellow Greenville native/resident. Hell yeah

Chris Jericho? How about Sting?

The last great moment in WCW.
Facts 👌
Quite literally! Right before WCW started falling apart! 💯
Not true.
What about the main event on this nitro? What about Goldberg DDP at Halloween Havoc 98? Or Goldberg spearing Bret Hart in March 99?

If you change the playback speed to .75 it sounds pretty close to normal.
Diamonds are forever and so are the Horsemen 🐎 🐎 🐎 🐎
This is what a pop sounds like 👍
I was there in my hometown of Greenville South Carolina it was a surreal moment. I never heard or felt anything like it at any event.
WWE almost signed him in 98.

@@Connor-k5g according to Jim Cornette, at the Unforgiven 98 ppv, Flair was in the parking lot. That's how close they came to signing him.

Was this real animosity Ric had with Eric? And if so what's the story? What problem did they have with one another?
