  • Winner of numerous awards, most notably the Nobel Prize for Literature, Toni Morrison made it possible for a new generation of African-American writers to have a voice in the mainstream literary dialogue. Her evocative, multilayered tales illuminate the black experience and have the power to change how readers look at American history. In this program, Morrison explains her statement that “American literature is incoherent without the contribution of African-American writers.”

21:07 that laugh before she hits us with the REAL truth...haha! Good for her! I love that she was such an educated woman who spoke her mind and, more importantly, displayed her intelligence and wit. She's a phenomena and truly a blessed soul on earth; thank you Toni Morrison!

Engage in things that are representative of the kind of person that you are .
It helps sometimes to befriend people that you can relate too on a personal level.
Be very selective with words and be careful how you speak .
What full-filled you when you were younger ?
    What was problematic ?
What hurt me the most ?
You can achieve your dreams . When you do , there’s work that will have to be done from there to maintain what you spent your whole life praying for .
    Love is intellectual .
    Love is sensual .
It’s a human response to chaos [ Uva njani emoyeni ? Are you lonely ] what do you need to stop being lonely ?
Don’t you want to belong ? To feel wanted ? & knowing that it always be so matter what .

This has to be later than 1982, because she published “Beloved” in 1987, I believe, and “Jazz” in the early 90s. Perhaps the video is from 1992?

Thank you! I had conflicting information about its date (either 1982 or 1992). It's fixed now.

And Megan Markle acts like Black women are being held black. We have so many Black Intellectual women and men in our culture and who have made a huge difference to those who listen. If some folks could get out of the way, their lights would shine even brighter.
