As mentioned below, the next should be "Save Me" from this same concert. You mentioned Freddie's breath control, it's extremely obvious in Save Me as Freddie jogs down the stairs while singing and never misses a note!!! Great reaction!!!

No trickery, no autotune (they didn't have it then), all they had was incredible talent. Mercury himself was a musical genius. You can always tell a truly talented band if they sound great live and don't need the studio to hide behind. Amazing song, amazing band. I miss Freddie so damn much! Great one to react to.

This performance is just the tip of the iceberg too! They always brought extra energy to their live performances. They have such a wide ranging compilation of songs from all genres you won’t be spoiled for choice, but may I suggest White Queen, live at the Odeon Hammersmith 1975 and Now I Here live at Wembley 1986. Two very different songs and performances, but both are amazing

In 2016cientific study (prof Christian Herbst) confirms, Freddie had an unparalleled singing voice. His vocal range F2-F6 (4 octaves) but that what makes his voice so special was extremely fast vibrato 7.04 Hz and subharmonics.
He was able to create several more layers of harmonics than anyone else.
Freddie was using a subharmonics by vibrating his ventricular folds, a technique usually found only in Tuvan throat
One of the conclusions from the studies was that"He was vibrating something in his throat that even Pavarotti couldn't move".

Great reaction to this brilliant performance and take into consideration, that Freddie never took singing lessons, he was untrained, but full of passion and emotions and he could deliver his feelings to the audience like no one else.

Great reaction! Queen is IMHO the best live band ever. They can do it all. Try Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 or White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975(official video). Both performances are fantastic and completely different. You're going to love the Queen journey. Of course, their Live Aid 20 min set is a must see, voted best live rock performance ever still to this day and broadcast live to 1.9 billion around the world. It should be viewed in it's entirety so you can soak in the atmosphere and the magic that is Queen live. It's something everyone should see at least once in their life. It's just that good! Queen live does not disappoint.

Outstanding performance. I am with Leona Ray, White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. Live Aid is also amazing. Thank you for this reaction. Queen is one of the best live bands ever. I only saw them live once but it was outstanding and something I will never forget. Hard to get Queen tickets in the US.

Thanks, James - commonly considered one of the best Queen live performances... you probably would enjoy more of the concert - especially "Save Me" -- oh, and... well, every other song...Credit where due - the entire band -- I was going to say Brian -- oh, but wait -- Roger.. .oh, and also John -- lol

Nice reaction. I love watching people discover Queen beyond the radio hits. I would love to see you work thru their back catalog starting from the beginning with their first album (something like the very first song off the first album - Keep Yourself Alive) and grow with the band thru each album... Then pick something from Queen II etc. Each album has gems. There are live performances you can watch from the rainbow in 1974 and Hammersmith in 1975... Just a suggestion. That's the journey I took. I have just finished Made In Heaven. What an amazing band. What a fun journey.

I wish you well on your channel and clicked on your channel only because of Queen but I've watched so much of Queen that I can't watch everything reversed and no full music effects. I hope you get more equipment as time goes on. Queen were known to be better live than any other group and I can say from experience that that is totally true as I got to see them while I was still at school. There will never be another Freddie and the four together were all talented and brought out the best in each other. They could all play other instruments as well as them all song writers. You must watch Live Aid. The concert was one that went down in history and they were the best because they lived and breathed their creations. Their timing is so accurate and everything well rehearsed. I still cry at certain songs and especially this year being 30 year anniversary of Freddies's passing. He passed away as my baby boy was saved from a life threatening situation. I got him home from hospital just 2 weeks before Freddie left us. I don't want you to think I am complaining about your equipment but I love music and Queen and ELO so much that I have to wear earphones for the full effects. Good luck on your journey. I am also from the UK and proud of our musical heritage. The 70s and 80s were just great for music lovers even some 60s but don't remember them only from my parents.

Great reaction to an unforgettable performance by the band. All in top form here - and you identified some of the reasons why at the end of your reaction. Reverse image a little distracting for those (most) of us Queen fans that know this performance well (but still never get tired of it or reactions to it 😉 ).

I loved watching this with you! It's great to hear from someone who knows what it takes to make music like this. I've watched this performance numerous times and never get tired of seeing people react to it for the first time. It's hard to believe that Freddie can maintain the level of energy and effort that he is putting out, and making it look so effortless. Yes, do go further on that Queen journey. Try a few live performances from the Rainbow or Hammersmith Odeon...Queen were great right from the start!

His vocals were four octaves. Brian remained the greatest guitarist and astrophysicist. Everyone is highly educated. Freddie was a designer and created their logo, John Deacon became an engineer and technically supported the band. Roger is a biologist. At one time, they were the only musicians with higher education, and probably still are today. Thank You for this great r eaction!

They were always better live than recorded, the studio versions actually took away from their talent. When you do live aid, please do the full 20 minute set, do not break it up like some people do, you will not get the full effect of the performance. It has gone down as the best performance in rock history, the movie did a good job, but it really doesn't touch the passion of the actual event! I hope you get to it, you will not be disappointed!

    HI JAMES...
IS THERE ANY CHANCE YOU'D BE WILLING TO ALSO REACT TO ANOTHER LIVE VERSION OF THIS SONG?
    MILTON KEYNES BOWL IN 1982...
IS (TO A LOT OF REACTORS AND QUEEN FANS) CONSIDERED EVEN BETTER THAN THIS MONTREAL PERFORMANCE.
