Great review! I think for me I rather the bigger bag for travel. I recently got the Patagonia Refugio 30L but am curious if you could do a solid comparison between the 30L and the Black Hole Mini MLC 30L? I went with the Refugio because I was afraid the mini mlc might be too big or awkward but I’ve not been able to compare them side by side in any store near me. I already have the Osprey Fairview 40L for my longer trips spanning 2-3 weeks, and wanted a smaller bag for shorter trips. Definitely needs to be used on those tighter flights. I keep checking the dimensions online and although just about an inch taller and a half wider, the mini mlc 30 seems to offer more cubic space. So torn!
A Black Hole Mini MLC 30L vs Refugio 30L comparison is a great idea! The MLC has way more travel-friendly features but it would be interesting to compare with the fit and main packing compartment space of the Refugio 30L to see if there are any major differences there.
@@Backpackies yes! I would be interested to know if having just one open pocket of the Mini MLC 30 would be better and fit more than the large main compartment and outside pocket of the Refugio 30. Cubic size says it should but you never really know until you pack it. Also, comparing the cubic dimensions of the mini MLC 30 to my Fairview 40, even though the mini mlc outside measures a bit shorter and narrower, the cubic inches is MORE by nearly 400 cubic inches than the Fairview. So hypothetically, it would fit just a tad more (or at least the same since again MlC has one main compartment and the Fairview has the main and the out pockets). I’m really looking for a bag that I can use for week long trips and get away with most airlines not looking too hard at it of if I wanna use it as a “personal” bag. Definitely can’t fit my Fairview under the seat in front of me (I never claimed it was a personal bag, but one time there was no overhead cabin space and the Flight Attendant told me to push it as far as I could under the seat). Very uncomfortable situation.
I love my bright yellow 26L but am finding that it draws a lot of attention which I don’t necessarily want. It also feels really heavy when I’m carrying around even 10-20lbs. I feel like with the padding being the same I’d be tempted to try to carry more which would hurt. I’m thinking perhaps the best move would be to get another 26L in black and just add my own bungie chord
It's not removable unless you cut the bungee off. We thought of cutting it off to show what the 30L looks like without it but that would ruin the original bungee.
which bag do you think would fit for a personal item on southeast asia budget airlines with also being lightweight? im bringing a 42l cotopaxi backpack so im mostly going to be carrying my personal backpack in front and also using it as my day pack. i wanted to have room for items for both the plane and in case i bring back extra things from traveling.
Ayo I'm in the same position as u right now, but I'm unsure wether to get a suitcase and a day pack or a small and big pack pack, what made u choose two backpacks?
Amazing reviews, I love it 👍🏻 Can you tell me wich has the best comfort between the Refugio 26 and Osprey Quasar ? Thank you and sorry for my bad english.
Good question! The Refugio 26 has more padded shoulder straps but the back panel is not stiff at all and bends very easily. The Osprey Quasar takes its design from hiking backpacks and it offers much better airflow and breathability. The shoulder straps on the Osprey Quasar are less padded and the back panel is more stiff than the Refugio. If you prefer more padding on the shoulder straps then choose the Refugio 26. If you prefer a more stiff back panel and better airflow for hot weather then choose the Osprey Quasar. Hopefully this helps!
Thank you for making these comparisons, it really helps to choose the right one.
Glad it was helpful!
Love the video and comparison. My 30L also arrived on time! Thank you!

Is the bungee cord on the 30l removable?
