FPO • Round 3 • Front 9
Featuring: Eveliina Salonen, Paige Shue, Catrina Allen, Kona Panis
Commentary: Madison Walker & Erika Stinchcomb
Camera & Edit: The Disc Golf Guy & Matt Grayum
Location: Wildhorse Golf Club, Henderson, Nevada
Date: February 22, 2020
With final round cut day looming we head out to the longest course found at the tournament which is the Innova Factory Store Course. Coming in at 9097 feet that means we're looking at an average hole length of over 500 feet per hole. Par is set at 62 however we have rain threatening during the our morning round and not only will that affect grip and slipping but also some mental composure as well.
Catrina Allen scorched the Innova Course during round 2 and has built herself a lead but last year's LVC Champion and some of the other top rated women in the world are right behind her.

My strategy for playing in the rain is foolproof. I sit on the couch and watch other people play in the rain. 👍🏻
I played my first round of Disc Golf this past weekend. Loved every minute of it. Thanks for the awesome coverage and great commentary.
yay FPO 2 hot geese, all I can say I love and appreciate your commentary! your knowledge, insight and Humor, just of the reasons I love FPO commentary.by far The best and really helps players follow the ladies with insight.
“Please honk if you love us”. 😂😂😂
Thanks for getting these videos out so fast this weekend!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MAKES THESE VIDEOS POSSIBLE!!!!
Great work Terry. I love you showing more then just shots.
And for weather rounds best tip. Lots of towels in individual bags
love the commentary love watching the women play you guys are the best.
Commentary was excellent, thank you,!
I've seen Eveliina play live and holy moly her drive is insane.
She has a mean snap. I love her low line shot selection.
Yep, but sadly her putt isn't at same level.
And still Cat outthrows her on most of the holes! I would like to see Eveliina, Cat, Henna and Page P on a same card on a long course 💪
Great tournament! I wear a Friction glove which helps in wet weather. Try it! 😊
Nothing like rainy day golf in the desert. Great coverage and commentary.
Any day on the disc golf course is a great day, rain or shine. Love the commentary!!
We appreciate YOU, Madison and Erika!!! :D
I actually just played my first round in rain the same weekend as LVC. I forgot my umbrella at the hotel and only had two towels. Now I have the experience with grip issues in the rain and I will prepare better the next time.
Great coverage!
Great coverage and commentary! :)
Lots of towels. Dry towels are in a water-proof pouch hanging from a bag and wet towels to a plastic bag so that it doesn't make anything else wet.
Sometimes friction gloves for driving and upshots. Don't use those for putting.
Chamois cloth is probably the best for drying. Original ones are made of leather, but artificial ones are good too.
Few special discs for rainy days that are sticky. Old ultra-long range driver Eagles or 10X KC Eagles are pretty good in rain. Those are not in my standard bag, but in a rain bag.
Don't like an umbrella so I wear water-proof clothes and shoes (either gore-tex or proper rubber boots that are light and support ankles). And water-proof mittens (not gloves) to keep hands warm and dry.
And I hate playing in rain, but can't always avoid it.
Great commentary!
"Honk if you love us." and if you don't already, watch thru hole 9. Hahaha! I love these ladies!
Playing in the rain just makes you focus harder on technique and speed of the throw. I take my folding seat and always set my bag on it instead of laying it on the ground.
I love playing in the rain because I'm from Oregon! I've had lots of practice when other usually don't. It gives me an edge on the competition!
@thediscgolfguy you are the only media outlet that is consistently getting front and back coverage out this weekend. emphasis on consistently. keep it up
Thanks for doing the commentary. It's I love to watch the women throw as much as I do the men. Everybody sees different lines and has different ideas. I learn so much from watching.
I keep a couple of birdie bags handy at all times for every round. Some of the new quick dry towels are amazing. The one I got in a players pack is a Latitude 64 towel. Literally I have dried my hands and discs back to back several times. Dry something shake the towel a couple of times and dry something else. I keep a couple of regular towels handy as well. And there is almost always a hand warmer or 2 in the bag. I live in Colorado so the sun may be shinning on hole 3 but by hole 5 rain, sleet, snow. Never know might as well be prepared. Thanks again 😊👍👍👍
I just realized that seeing all of the geese down there means that I have a ways to go before I can get a snowless run up on the fairways where I'm from. I learn a lot from Terry's coverage because of the great camera he does, some of the best shots in the business.
Excellent coverage and commentary, thank you
Loving the close up shots while preparing the throw. Great work!
It was so much fun watching theses ladies play! We got soaked! We I play in the rain, I try to make sure I have lots of towels so my hands and discs stay dry!
Enjoyed watching the Round 3 front 9!
Awesome coverage all round! Tight rubbery work gloves can help especially with putting in the rain if you get tired of constantly and in vain trying to wipe your discs dry.
It poured right in the middle of my very first tournament last year and it def affected my play. I can't wait to continue improving my game though and love supporting women's disc golf!
Definitely taking out most of my Champ/Lucid discs in the rain. Towels and whale sacs also. Great job Two Hot Geese! 🦢🦢 Super fun commentary and appreciate the coverage!
I keep extra towels in ziplock bags. I prefer microfiber towels ...they wick water super good and still work when they are damp. I usually rock an umbrella as well.
So happy I don't sleep! Woohoo thanks
Rain crushes my mental game! I think it is because it messes with my routines, repeatedly.
Hope LV can put in a few more interesting Tees for FPO next year
I prefer watching FPO coverage. The ladies only throw a lot further than I do rather than twice as far. I feel I can pick up more useful information about disc preference, shotshaping , and course management.
yea bad shoulder makes me play leftie i've learned a lot from the ladies and ladies and some podcasts that are aimed at the ladies
Absolutely. I'm 50, and have not played in over 20 years. Watching lots of coverage has inspired me to try and get back out there this spring. While it's fun to watch the guys bomb disks over 500 feet, there is no way I'm going to do that. I couldn't do that back in the day. Watching the women play shows me how I will need to navigate a course much more realistically. They still crush anything I'll be able to manage... lol, but it's closer to what my game might be.
Love this commentary, I generally just get wet when it rains, discs and cloths dry eventually
My first sanctioned round in the rain didn't go well because I wasn't used to it, but it was a good learning experience. If it's light right, a hat and sweatshirt are fine. If it's heavier rain, then you break out the rain jacket, umbrella, and more towels.
I am also considering buying the friction gloves for throwing drives in the rain in addition to the colder months in North Idaho.
Great coverage! I just stay home when it rains.
Was fun to follow these ladies around in the rain. I tend to completely forget all my rain gear and get me and my bag soaked through.
Best tip for wet weather play is waterproof shoes. Nothing worse than wet feet when trying to play a round. Loving the FPO coverage, need more of it! Only request would be distances in meters as well as feet please.
Friction gloves help a lot in rain or snow but they take some getting used to because you almost have too much grip.
Keep up the great work!
Rainy rounds: plenty of towels and generally take out any Champion/Lucid plastic. Also a full change of clothes for between rounds.
I'm ready for playing in the rain. We're still playing in the snow up here in Maine.
I played the first time in the rain about a month ago. Made a couple back to back amazing 50 ft+ birdie putts hyzering around trees. Nearly made a third in a row putting through a pine tree. It rained off and on the round with the wind picking up on a couple holes as well. I feel that my friends and I all improved after playing that round.
Hole 4 is my favorite. Straight but that front bunker tightens up any shot.
hate plying in the rain especially on open courses. here in nz its normally wind and rain so extra tough.
Live near Seattle so rain is always a possibility. Two rain jackets for 2 round tourneys and zip lock bag full of towels
I have 3 towels. Must keep disc dry. Soggy & cold feet suck. Thanks Terry, Mad & Murika 👍❤️😎🥏⛓
I have trail running Goretex shoes and love warm and dry feet, doesn't get wet even if i step in shallow puddles.
Love the coverage! And more comments on/footage of wild animals will be appreciated 😊
playing in the rain - my cart is a conversion with an added rain fly that keeps my discs and all gear 100% dry. Keeping up with drying each disc after every shot is operator failure
Birdie bags are perfect for this type of weather. Must have up in WA
Go girls!!!!!
if it's really raining i definitely go as prepared as possible for the course. Extra towels and an umbrella and maybe a longsleeve t or extra sweatshirt if i have a cart or room for it. Also sometimes you just gotta go for it and hope it doesn't get too bad
I recall my nickname of Mad Comb for the commentary 2 Hot Geese is obviously superior, love it! I try to avoid playing in the rain when possible, but def lots of towels and umbrella if It's really coming down.
Don't play in the rain. I'ma whimp. I prefer watching the women play, I don't feel so bad about my throwing distance. The commentary is awesome. Thanks Terry and all who put out this coverage.
Best part about me playing in the rain is it lets me use another reason why my shot didn't go well, it couldn't possibly be bad form...Big thank to everyone who put the video together. When is Madison Walker's custom thunderbird coming out this year? More importantly what will the artwork be?
I used to try to keep dry in the rain, but if its pouring I usually get to a "F-it" point where I close the umbrella and stop drying the discs. I always pack a full spare set of clothes/shoes in case the rain stops between rounds.
I caddied in the rain using one of those big yellow Innova umbrellas, not sure how I would do it as a player. I often throw on a big empty beach near my and just play with wet hands so it might not be too bad.
For rain I make sure to have 10 towels per round in a ziplock plastic bag, with another bag for the towels as they get wet. I use a hat and rain jacket, and either my grip bag with rainfly or Zuca with fly. Gortex shoes and a change of clothes for the ride home.
Love the foo coverage. Katrina giving strokes away on the green again
I am definitely a fair weather golfer. 😂😂
I have the same umbrella as Cat....good choice #USDGC
Friction glove or climbers chalk depending on how much rain is falling. And always, lots of towels.
Rainfly covered bag, stuffed into lg zuca cart.
Both cart & bag have umbrella carriers, but a tether is recommended for windy conditions
Extra towels in ziploc & WATERPROOF socks! ❤️
I love playing in the rain if it isn't too muddy. I usually just have a bunch of towels to keep my disc and hands dry.
Tips for rainy days.
1. Take multiple microfibers not cotton towels.
2. Do not wipe the disc then put it back in your bag.
3. Only dry the disc right before you throw it.
4. ONLY wipe off the area you're going to put your hand. Wiping the entire disc only wastes dry towel.
5. Keep a separate smaller microfiber towel in the pocket of your throwing hand. To help keep it dry
6.Put a Hot Hands in the pocket of your throwing hand. The heat will help keep your hand dry.
7. Umbrella always helps
8. Bag rainfly always useful
I've never disc golfed in the rain before. I run for my car!
I'm in Oregon so my strategy is a large cup of coffee and lots of re-tees
I love rain rounds. I do better compared to the rest of the field in a downpour. I switch to a Friction Glove and don't even need to dry my discs; it's the same grip, wet or dry.
I play in the rain daily in washington...... I use a dollar tree shammie , discraft towel & friction glove if it gets too bad. Probably go through more hoodies then towels i a week.
shammy to get dirt and wetness. towel to polish and dry completely.
good stuff
"Trying to get more fans.." How could you not have fans. I watch all the time as the range, shot selection, etc... more match my game than let's say Simon bombing out a 700+ foot drive. I am always trying to find women's coverage on here. So I can watch our household and hometown favorite Paige Shue. My 8 year old still raves about the disc she signed for him and that we actually got to talk to her at the Dynamic Disc store. She's a very humble, very nice person. I should also thank her for recommending the Flow. It has really worked out well in my bag. Good luck to you all and keep up the great play and the funny commentary. Disc golf commentary is wonderful . Never will you hear people talk about fruit stands, and have a good time in regular golf. Also the fact that currently playing Pros are the ones giving the commentary sheds a lot of light on small little items if you are trying to up your game. Great job Madison and Erika. You keep filming and I'll definitely keep watching. Stay dry!
use a Friction glove for wet conditions. it works!
When playing in the rain I always have some extra towels with me and I was so happy, that I have my Crosslap Cubus cart, where my discs keeps try.
It's so cringeworthy to see Cat lose so many strokes with the short putts. Hopefully that goes away before Pierce enters the scene or it'll be "Maybe next year Cat".
I definitely use different discs in the rain. The mud sucks though. Lol
Raincoat as Ricky, three towels and a Red Bull. Thank you.
one of my crew's sayings is, "Rain ain't nothing but water." We play in the rain with nothing but the grit to make it through
I am definitely not a fair weather player. I recently just started packing an umbrella from Discraft that was part of a players pack from my local ice bowl.
I haven't played in heavy rain yet, but I know I'll have 2 GOAT towels and I'll get a big umbrella probably. (started playing last September)
I dont mind playing in the rain at all, I use mostly gummy plastic and 2 shami towels, and shout out to Kona Panis for making great shots on rd 3, way to come back after rd2 Kona....
Enjoy playing in the rain as long as there isn't a lot of standing water or deep mud on the course. Friction glove, mud towel, waterproof shoes/pants/jacket and you're good to go.
Can we continue the honk commentary? I am such a huge fan, haha
I hate the rain... the one time I was playing when it proper rained and I had to play on, I abandoned my bag and went around with one disc!
2 towels on those rainy days. Great shots out there despite the weather
I REALLLLY thought they said "Two high geese commentary." Had to re-listen.
They probably are lol jk
I don't enjoy playing in the rain, but I've got a whalesack, some towels and even a pair of gloves to help with the grip
Friction gloves have saved me so many times during rainy rounds
Rain golf is treacherous. I don't get to go out and play as often as I'd like so when I do I'll play rain or shine but it's just so much less fun. You can use birdie bags, umbrellas, rain covers for your bag, etc. But your clothes will eventually get soggy and heavy and by the end you're usually miserable. I'll take heavy wind over a downpour any day.
For rainy rounds, a friction glove is great. Don’t even need to wipe the disc.
I just suck it up in the rain and carry a couple towels but my main course has a lot of water anyways!
I keep my birdie bag and plenty of towels close by and throw more glow plastics
I don't mind playing in the rain.....as long as it's not cold!
I try to avoid playing in the rain. If I play then I don’t do anything different though.
18 is a great finishing hole. Does not look like they can back it up any more
Whoops that was for the wrong video lol
Many towels and lots of 🙏🙏🙏 for a rainy day
Not a fan of playing in the rain, just uncomfortable being soaked. I wear Friction gloves, so my grip is still very consistent when throwing even in the rain.
