I'm waching this because I like latin, but can't figure out how it was naturally spoken with so many long vowels, and suomi is just so helpful.

Finnish may sound really "weird" nowadays but historical linguistics indicates that over a thousand years ago many other European languages used to sound very similar to the Finnish language. That's because the Ancient versions of Romance, Germanic and Celtic languages are suspected to possess many Finnish-esque features such as using several cases (around 7), stressing the first syllable of every word, and allowing both phonemic vowel and consonant length completely independent from each other and from stress placement.

It is possible with the right motivation 😌 I never thought I’d find myself trying to learn until I met the love of my life, all the way across the world in Finland. As an American, it has been a journey learning, but I found it easy to learn by surrounding myself in constant finnish language through finnish music, tv shows, movies, and constant Duolingo. It really helps, and you’ll forget English overtime like I do😂

@@bunnyhunny022 The problem is that I already know two foreign languages; this very fact somewhat complicates the matter of learning Finnish because, while learning Finnish, I also have to constantly brush up on the other two lest I forget them.

Thats so cringy finnish does not sound like that you all are getting it so wrong...many speaks it with finnish accent that also i use,its basically not accent but you just shorten words for example *kyllä, minä olin uimassa* would actually be *juu, mä olin uimas*

You have to know the complete words in order for them to be cut like that while speaking. Is the same in english. You cant just contract everything without knowing what it is, you will sound dumb lol
