The episode The Shrine had me bawling my eyes out so hard. After watching my grandmother develop dementia and slowly loose what made her plus a good friend of mine develop a brain tumor and deteriorate in much the same way as Rodney this episode hit really close to home. My friend was so scared that he was loosing himself and was able to recognize it, even called me on several occasions to make sure that he wasn’t forgetting the most important people in his life. I’ve never had to stop something in the middle before but that scene with Rodney pounding on Shepard’s door was so close to home it took almost a full year to finish that episode.
They dont think the way we do Carlos, shows that get cancelled, characters that get killed off, they dont care about the fans, the actors or the shows.
Same reason SG1 was cancelled. The ratings dropped and the show became too expensive to make, plus around this time tv was changing. What worked in the SG1 era of the 90s and early 00 by the late 00s was no longer working.
@@TheSmileyK1ng I would say that SG1 was mostly done anyway, there wasnt much new stories that could have been told. But cancelling Atlantis and Universe was a mistake.
I haven't watched the show in years but it will always have a special place in my heart. Watching this again, everything happening with Carson just hit me again like a truck and I was bawling. I need to rewatch this show, I have the whole 5 seasons set on my shelf waiting for me :'/

Darn you for kicking me in the feels. Carson's end still gets me every time. Also, for The Shrine... I'd say that the moment that gets me the most is when Jeannie goes to see Rodney and just can't keep it together after seeing her brother in such a state. That moment hurts me physically.
When Carson died, that was the first time I ever cried watching a TV show. Up to that point I felt that my childhood heroes were invincible, the good will defeat the evil and they will all live happily ever after. Every time Daniel died in SG1 I knew it wasn't forever. But here I felt it in my gut. It would never be the same.
@@DavidSmith-fs5qj And to a certain extent, when they killed off the Asgard in the final episode. Thor's desperate "You must go!" is always making me sad.

Yes. I didn't really "love"him at that time. But his sudden sacrifice showed his real personality. One who kept his head down and did everything for the team and the greater good. He's not even saying anything heroic. Just very pragmatic and logical and a hero. I was like "Oh no. Like that?"
The saddest Atlantis deaths... Just watch "The Last Man" Carter dying with the cruiser Phoenix Ronan dying without the team. Teyla dying as a hostage. Dr. Keller dying from the Hoffan drug disease. McKay dying alone... after setting up his hologram to be there for Sheppard's arrival.
Stargate Atlantis: The death of Carson Beckett. Stargate-SG1: The death of Dr Janet Fraiser(my all time favourite character). What is it with doctors in Stargate, do they have a grudge against the medical proffession? Both deaths were utterly pointless, they didnt add anything to either show, except to leave the fans devastated and the actors who played them.
As a teenager this was my favorite science fiction movie, the passion, sacrifice and love shaped my teenage perspective of life. Watching Dr. Carson die was my saddest moment in the movie💔
To be completely fair according to a SGA comic/book series I heard about Ford not only made it off that Hive ship but ended up marrying a Traveller woman and they settled on Earth.

I know!! And when Rodney says he should have gone fishing, that would mean the guy with the tumor would have died. Possibly everyone in the operating room, since Rodney was the one who figured it out and told Carson, causing him to clear the room. So yeah, more people dying.
@@TheFaceOfWhoDWTSG yeah true it’s p sad But also he gets reunited with his family outside of the tv series There are books and comics that expand the universe and in there his story gets finishes
I post this with all respect, love for the show, the actors, the characters.. In the dream sequence at the end of SUNDAY, I have always felt sad & sadder as, in my heart's mind, Hewlett's "Bert" says farewell to McGillion's "Ernie". B. & E. are the best best friends ever on television- Jim Henson said they were 8 years old, negating any talk of them being "straight or gay"- & Beckett & McKay give them a run for it in this odd scene. It's completely out of character for the show, a little awkward & maudlin but I love it.
Instead of more Atlantis episodes and SG-1 movies we got a royal piece of dung like SGU. What were the producers thinking....it is obvious they were not. We will not forgive them for there erroneous egos.
