Dino Valley is by far my favourite place but the team has just totally and utterly neglected it. It had *so* many unique and interesting features! -Reputation blocked horses -Cold tolerance -A freaking volcano!! Technically unreleased but still cool. -A hidden dinosaur!! -Beautiful atmospheric fog And here's what has happened since it's release: -No more Kallters, and the Fjord's reputation has been completely stamped on by making the gen 3 versions available to everyone. -No more cold tolerance. -Ashland has been completely scrapped. -The fog has been significantly reduced and you can now see the dinosaur from the elevator (I thought it was "Valley of the *Hidden* Dinosaur", not "Valley of the Dinosaur that can be seen from miles away"). It had *so* much potential but they've destroyed everything that made it unique. And even then, they haven't even developed the area further. No championships, no home stable, only one race, no global chat, etc.

@@helIokittiIt's an area I'm very passionate about! I used to be passionate about it because of how much I love it, but these days it's because of how much I hate what the team has done to it. It hasn't even been updated yet! On that note, it'd be pretty cool if you could do a video on explaining the history of each area in SSO and their graphical update schedule. SSO had a very weird strategy for updating areas a few years ago, that being that they'd update certain parts of the area and leave the rest unfinished (mainly buildings). It's why the Hollow Woods took over 5 years to receive an update, with Steve's Farm, Marley's Farm, Silverglade Village and the racetrack taking between 3 and 4 years to receive an update. It's so strange that SSO decided to do this since it makes their areas look sloppy.
I remember when the first 'stables' came in where Nic Stoneground is, that everyone was theorising there would finally be a home stables there. But... Unfortunately, they never really even utilised that. I was so excited at the time because my friends and I were so entranced when the Valley first opened up, we wanted to know more about everything mentioned in your video; the kalters, the strange toothy monster cave entrance, even rumours of a real yeti was spoken about (I think in quests)! But yea... Scrapped. At least we, older players, can still remember and share the stories of old SSO to those who haven't had the luxury of experiencing it
Dino Valley was 100% an abandoned project. It's quite sad as it had so much potential with the storyline, the kallters, and the overall mystery behind the valley. I really hope the team goes back to this area with an update and continuation of the storyline (Ashland,etc.). Getting rid of the kallters completely was also a mistake. To me, it seems the team put this quest out to wrap up the valley and leave it. Almost as if they didn't want to bother with it anymore.
When I found out about the cold tolerance being removed, I contacted SSO with the suggestion to make saddle blankets we could buy to negate the cold intolerance. That way, they could make money selling new tack and butt-hurt players could still ride thier non-tolerant horses at full speed.
Oh man Dino Valley was my fav quest line and area, and still is. Im dreading when it gets updated though. I can already tell it will just be ruined, wont feel like an actually dangerous adventure into an isolated, frigid land anymore.
I just unlocked it, I’ve played since 2018 and this is the first time I’ve felt ‘emerged’ in the game. I felt like I was in literal danger if I didn’t get that elevator fixed. It makes me sad that’s the first time I’ve had that feeling doing quests for 6 years
I hate how Star Stable has declined when it comes to winter atmosphere. In the past, they knew how to make Winter feel bright and cute but not too bright and didn't add blue/purple shaders to everything which now is giving players headaches. I miss the way things used to be. Although I love that the new snow is 3D, the atmosphere is cold and hurts to look at.
I feel like star stable needs to put some serious thought into updating dino valley. I feel like it would be so epic, especially with the snow effects star stable has now made. Imagine the snow that star stable has around Christmas time in dino valley with super thick fog, the blizzard effects, and drifting snow. Then imagine we get the kalters back with upated fjords (or some other nortic breed) that we have to work to unlock with updated kalter tack and clothes. I think it would also be awsome if they made new pets (like a sled dog model, updated seals, snow leopards cubs, walruses, polar bear cubs, or artic wolves) that we had to work to unlock. Now imagine if they added a championship, maybe do a quest were we build a stable, better archeology awards, and maybe some sort of other grinding quests like what they added with hollow woods. Also imagine if we got to unlcock ashland with the volcano. I just feel like there is endless potential, endless imagination for Dino Valley, and the sso team has just completely neglected it.
I am so looking forward watching this video in your storytelling style, Dino Valley got released few months after I created my account and as a little kid I HATED reputation quests - this area though, I grinded rep DAILY. The finnhorse being a cold tolerant breed actually makes perfect sense, since it is a breed originating from Finland where the winters are really harsh and cold, and really is bred to handle the winter.
I joined SSO sometime after Dino Valley released. It’s wild seeing how much hype was built up for the release of this location, and the genuine excitement, care and love was poured into it, from both the players AND the devs. Really shows how much of a tight-knit community SSO was back then. In today’s era of SSO, that sense of community and GENUINE excitement and love over a new release is non-existent, since the game is now just mainstream consumerism. If this doesn’t show the SSO team the decline of their game, I don’t know what will. I thought it was important to point out, that even though I am a veteran player, I only got around to unlocking Dino Valley a couple years back. The area is so empty. A few quests with Nic Stoneground and that’s it. There’s no excitement or content there, it’s dead and underwhelming. Seeing how it used to be back in the good days before the Kalters and majority of content was removed is a massive wake-up call.
Dino Valley is one of my favourite locations! I miss soo much how winter looked back then, i mean it's great that we have snow but it's too bright and sky looks depressing in my opinion.....
OMG Me too!! For some reason, I LOOVE all the wintery areas in video games... it's just such a different realm from what we are normally used to, and it introduces such an interesting side to the story and leaves a lot to theorize about... not to mention it almost feels like we never have explored it 100%!! There's always something left to be found. ♡ I completely agree with you on the new snow tbh, this was the first thing I noticed last year when it came back!! The old snow was so nice because it was so subtle and calming, whereas the new snow is a little too extreme in my opinion (and causes all sorts of headaches for some players) and the blue filter makes everything, like you said, super depressing T_T I'm so grateful for reshade artists! I hope we have the chance to get the old fjords at some point again. They removed them so quick and early. During 2018, I had just started playing the game. I saw people riding the beautiful horses around and wanted them so badly. SSO has already brought old seals and pigs back, TWICE. unless it breaks the game I don’t see why they shouldn’t bring the old horses back during a bazaar or something. They would make so much money off of it as well considering how many players want the horses
I 100% agree I would buy all of the Gen 1 Fjord they are stunning, I never got to meet the Kalters as I've I have only been playing a year If SSO do a Gen 4 Fjord maybe they will have them look more like the original as there new horses are looking more real and true to form they will be a hot buy and if the did a Ten Year Anniverary for the Gen 1 Fjord bring them back along with the Kalters for a quest for say a month so new player get to meet and quest with the Kalters and there beautiful Gen 1 Fjords.
I've always loved how dino valley seemed so untouched. It makes sense when you think about the lore of it, but it's still very special since there's nowhere else like that in the whole game and I love to wander around the completely deserted forests and mountains. It makes it feel so much more desolate and unexplored without roads and buildings everywhere. You feel like you really are the first Jorvegian to see it in a long time. And coupled with the extreme cold and rough landscape, it almost feels like you're not supposed to be there...
I think they are trying to make the same thing with the new druid thing in the hollow woods now, even if it lacks of everything. I don't understand why they gave up on this place, the backstory and the Kallters, it was one of their best.
I feel like eventually they have to revisit the Kallters. They were a big part of the story in Dino and they are also in the Mainstory a bit with Katja our dark rider. I feel like they will update Dino and then bring them back someday.
I genuinley cant understand how my brain somehow is able to...Relate sso to The Simpsons, both are classic peices of media that lost their charm over the years. A charm that first led the people who made the community there. Honestly i can describe modern sso in one simple word: "Cold" the graphics are cold, the game is cold the community is...Cold, i have taken many long..Long..Hiatus's from sso and i fear the day they "update" the valley..Well, what can one do?
OMG No like I can really see that!! I grew up in a Simpson's loving family and I can't really enjoy the new episodes as much, maybe it has something to do with them becoming apart of Disney? IDK whatever it is, I totally agree.. both pieces of media totally lost their original motive and the reason why they started the project in the first place! I think the only way we can motivate Star Stable to take a direction that the whole community agrees would be beneficial is to speak up on what ideas we have for upcoming projects such as horse breeds, area revamps and new features! I know this argument can be dismantled by the fact that they don't seem to take our suggestions into consideration, but I think that they might be listening more nowadays... the only thing we as a community can do is speak up about our ideas and point out flaws in the game! I love seeing constructive TH-cam channels and Instagram pages come up with some great ideas for the game, and actually give critical opinions... not just sugarcoat everything and coddle SSO :) Thank you so much for your comment!! :3 ♡

the dinosaur valley was the area i was most excited for, i remember looking at the huge snowy area on the map constantly anticipating till i could go there, in fact the first horse i ever bought was halfinger because they had cold resistance, unfortunately i was only able to unlock the area just after the gen1 fjord horses were removed so i had never got to meet the kallters or the gen 1 fjord and after unlocking the area and fixing the elevator i remember being left with, nothing but to explore which, with nothing else to do ,got boring after a while even with how enamoured i was with the place. because of the cold tolerance feature in the dino valley, i had even daydreamed about a dessert or mesa area where horses like Arabian would get heat resistance

I think they been hinting returning to Dino Valley for a while with the Rainbow Event Quests. I hope they do it justice and bring out a unique horse for the Kalters to have again. Bring back the magic!!

That feeling like you earned something on this game has completely gone, that's exactly what is wrong with SSO these days, that, and the way they butchered the game's lore. The charm of the old days, with the imperfect but somehow cute horse models just gave it a special feeling. I'm not saying the new models aren't great mostly, but the old magic of the game is gone. (They got a little of it back with the Hollow Woods update. Perhaps someone will find a lore book and remember the Kallters some day)
I have been playing since the Fjords first came out, and I still have my kallter gear that I hard earned via the reputation grind. I was a fool to sell my old fjord i had also, but I do admit the new fjords look good in the kallter gear ... I miss the Kallter man, there were too many unanswered questions for SSO to just make them LEAVE without reason. I still go to Icengate sometimes, just to think and brainstorm what's going on behind that wall.
In The Equestrian Festival at Moorland, go talk to the rangers, they talked about Ashland. I think they'll eventually remake Ashland again because Garnok Fury is important to the story line.
I literally just completed full reputation in dino valley yesterday! I was very disappointed that there was no new stuff whatsoever after grinding so much it almost left me to tears. It is the same thing in every reputation progress :/ it was a waste of time and energy for me.
OMG wait!!! One of the snow storms in Goldenleaf I was sent to by the Australian ranger, someone was stuck in a shed just under the bridge to the abandoned Marchenghast castle and once I was in there, the door was a FRIDGE DOOR being used as a hatch and the inside looked like the place where we saved that guy who was poisoned in Crescent Moon Village. So maybe under the fridge doors there is a maze of those back room type places. Then it sent me to a random house around Steves farm which I couldn't explain if I tried.

Personally, Dino Valley is my favorite place of all time. I loved the questlines and just how unique the area is. The old fjords are literally my favorite horses. It still has so much potential even after all these years. I just wish SSO would go back and upgrade it more.
This makes me regret I didn't start playing MUCH earlier, I only started playing this year and I feel I missed out on sooo much. Maybe if I started playing earlier I might have a Gen 1 Fjord, but the closest I'll ever get to is a Gen 1 Jorvik pony 😔

Also I have no Idea if that's what you call it, I just translated directly over from swedish) I would say that the gen 1 fjord isn't really correct hor the horse is built irl (Don't get me wrong, the gen 1 fjord is really cute) And I would say that the gen 3 is more accurate to a irl fjord, but its far away from perfect lmao 26:06 yes. while fjords are mostly homozygous dun (foals from homozygous duns cant be anything but dun), cream is present in the breed. isabelline is actually a shade name for a cremello or light palomino and the fjord sso released is "kvit" which is homozygous cream (cremello, perlino or smoky cream) with dun. kvit is distinguishable from rødblakk (red dun) and gulblakk (red dun with heterozygous cream) because homozygous cream causes pink skin while dun and heterozygous cream leave the skin black. the "gray" horse is also technically not a true gray but grulla/black dun but because it is called grå in norwegian it was translated to gray so that is now used for grulla fjords. im a huge horse color genetics nerd so i just had to correct since calling the horse cremello would not be 100% wrong since depending on the base color (homozygous creams are nearly indistinguishable from one another) it really could be a cremello dun

I heard certain rumors from players that Star Stable workers answered certain players their questions about Ashland. According to them Ashland was a place holder a place the creators could possibly use in the near future as the story of Dino Valley was supposed to be continued. But then probaly got scrapped because the game shifted it's focus from the Valley of the hidden Dinosaur to Epona and Jorvik city in 2015 and 2016 and they probaly didn't already have a longterm agenda for the Valley so I guess they just forgot about this area and it's content and shifted gears. And as time went on a new management came on who didn't know what to do with the game and focussed on making more money instead of content.

A few quests with Nic Stoneground and that’s it. There’s no excitement or content there, it’s dead and underwhelming. Seeing how it used to be back in the good days before the Kalters and majority of content was removed is a massive wake-up call.
Dino Valley is one of my favourite locations! I miss soo much how winter looked back then, i mean it's great that we have snow but it's too bright and sky looks depressing in my opinion.....
OMG Me too!! For some reason, I LOOVE all the wintery areas in video games... it's just such a different realm from what we are normally used to, and it introduces such an interesting side to the story and leaves a lot to theorize about... not to mention it almost feels like we never have explored it 100%!! There's always something left to be found. ♡
I completely agree with you on the new snow tbh, this was the first thing I noticed last year when it came back!! The old snow was so nice because it was so subtle and calming, whereas the new snow is a little too extreme in my opinion (and causes all sorts of headaches for some players) and the blue filter makes everything, like you said, super depressing T_T I'm so grateful for reshade artists! But I know reshade sadly isn't accessible for all players ):

I hope we have the chance to get the old fjords at some point again. They removed them so quick and early. During 2018, I had just started playing the game. I saw people riding the beautiful horses around and wanted them so badly. SSO has already brought old seals and pigs back, TWICE. unless it breaks the game I don’t see why they shouldn’t bring the old horses back during a bazaar or something. They would make so much money off of it as well considering how many players want the horses
I 100% agree I would buy all of the Gen 1 Fjord they are stunning, I never got to meet the Kalters as I've I have only been playing a year If SSO do a Gen 4 Fjord maybe they will have them look more like the original as there new horses are looking more real and true to form they will be a hot buy and if the did a Ten Year Anniverary for the Gen 1 Fjord bring them back along with the Kalters for a quest for say a month so new player get to meet and quest with the Kalters and there beautiful Gen 1 Fjords.
I've always loved how dino valley seemed so untouched. It makes sense when you think about the lore of it, but it's still very special since there's nowhere else like that in the whole game and I love to wander around the completely deserted forests and mountains. It makes it feel so much more desolate and unexplored without roads and buildings everywhere. You feel like you really are the first Jorvegian to see it in a long time. And coupled with the extreme cold and rough landscape, it almost feels like you're not supposed to be there...
I think they are trying to make the same thing with the new druid thing in the hollow woods now, even if it lacks of everything. I don't understand why they gave up on this place, the backstory and the Kallters, it was one of their best.
I feel like eventually they have to revisit the Kallters. They were a big part of the story in Dino and they are also in the Mainstory a bit with Katja our dark rider. I feel like they will update Dino and then bring them back someday.
I unfortunately didn’t start playing until after the removal of the gen 1 and I was so sad. I wish I could have played the quests!

I genuinley cant understand how my brain somehow is able to...Relate sso to The Simpsons, both are classic peices of media that lost their charm over the years. A charm that first led the people who made the community there. Honestly i can describe modern sso in one simple word: "Cold" the graphics are cold, the game is cold the community is...Cold, i have taken many long..Long..Hiatus's from sso and i fear the day they "update" the valley..Well, what can one do?
OMG No like I can really see that!! I grew up in a Simpson's loving family and I can't really enjoy the new episodes as much, maybe it has something to do with them becoming apart of Disney? IDK whatever it is, I totally agree.. both pieces of media totally lost their original motive and the reason why they started the project in the first place!
I think the only way we can motivate Star Stable to take a direction that the whole community agrees would be beneficial is to speak up on what ideas we have for upcoming projects such as horse breeds, area revamps and new features! I know this argument can be dismantled by the fact that they don't seem to take our suggestions into consideration, but I think that they might be listening more nowadays... the only thing we as a community can do is speak up about our ideas and point out flaws in the game! I love seeing constructive TH-cam channels and Instagram pages come up with some great ideas for the game, and actually give critical opinions... not just sugarcoat everything and coddle SSO :)

I have good news!! If you go next to icendel in game now there is a band of penguins in front of it and you get a winter token from interacting with it! This might be hinting to a Dino valley update
the dinosaur valley was the area i was most excited for, i remember looking at the huge snowy area on the map constantly anticipating till i could go there, in fact the first horse i ever bought was halfinger because they had cold resistance, unfortunately i was only able to unlock the area just after the gen1 fjord horses were removed so i had never got to meet the kallters or the gen 1 fjord and after unlocking the area and fixing the elevator i remember being left with, nothing but to explore which, with nothing else to do ,got boring after a while even with how enamoured i was with the place. because of the cold tolerance feature in the dino valley, i had even daydreamed about a dessert or mesa area where horses like Arabian would get heat resistance
With the fridge doors I noticed that the door in valedale has a star and one point is circled so maybe sso is supporting the star theory 🤔

I think they been hinting returning to Dino Valley for a while with the Rainbow Event Quests. I hope they do it justice and bring out a unique horse for the Kalters to have again. Bring back the magic!!

That feeling like you earned something on this game has completely gone, that's exactly what is wrong with SSO these days, that, and the way they butchered the game's lore. The charm of the old days, with the imperfect but somehow cute horse models just gave it a special feeling. I'm not saying the new models aren't great mostly, but the old magic of the game is gone. (They got a little of it back with the Hollow Woods update. Perhaps someone will find a lore book and remember the Kallters some day)
I have been playing since the Fjords first came out, and I still have my kallter gear that I hard earned via the reputation grind. I was a fool to sell my old fjord i had also, but I do admit the new fjords look good in the kallter gear

I miss the Kallter man, there were too many unanswered questions for SSO to just make them LEAVE without reason. I still go to Icengate sometimes, just to think and brainstorm what's going on behind that wall.
In The Equestrian Festival at Moorland, go talk to the rangers, they talked about Ashland. I think they'll eventually remake Ashland again because Garnok Fury is important to the story line.
also didn't we get a quest later on about saving Fripp with the fridge explaining the lore of it?
I literally just completed full reputation in dino valley yesterday! I was very disappointed that there was no new stuff whatsoever after grinding so much it almost left me to tears. It is the same thing in every reputation progress :/ it was a waste of time and energy for me.
OMG wait!!! One of the snow storms in Goldenleaf I was sent to by the Australian ranger, someone was stuck in a shed just under the bridge to the abandoned Marchenghast castle and once I was in there, the door was a FRIDGE DOOR being used as a hatch and the inside looked like the place where we saved that guy who was poisoned in Crescent Moon Village. So maybe under the fridge doors there is a maze of those back room type places. Then it sent me to a random house around Steves farm which I couldn't explain if I tried.
The shed was one of those basic square based fishing sheds too

Personally, Dino Valley is my favorite place of all time. I loved the questlines and just how unique the area is. The old fjords are literally my favorite horses. It still has so much potential even after all these years. I just wish SSO would go back and upgrade it more.

I would say that the gen 1 fjord isn't really correct hor the horse is built irl (Don't get me wrong, the gen 1 fjord is really cute) And I would say that the gen 3 is more accurate to a irl fjord, but its far away from perfect lmao

I'm really sad that dino valley is so forgotten. Ive always loved dino valley and been hyped or the place, especially since I could get my fav breed from there! I remember working rep for my fjord and one day I finally got it. It really felt like you deserved the horse :( I also felt like they could've done so much more with the kallters and gen 3 fjord, not throw them away and just put the fjord for basically everyone to purschase.
while fjords are mostly homozygous dun (foals from homozygous duns cant be anything but dun), cream is present in the breed. isabelline is actually a shade name for a cremello or light palomino and the fjord sso released is "kvit" which is homozygous cream (cremello, perlino or smoky cream) with dun. kvit is distinguishable from rødblakk (red dun) and gulblakk (red dun with heterozygous cream) because homozygous cream causes pink skin while dun and heterozygous cream leave the skin black. the "gray" horse is also technically not a true gray but grulla/black dun but because it is called grå in norwegian it was translated to gray so that is now used for grulla fjords. im a huge horse color genetics nerd so i just had to correct since calling the horse cremello would not be 100% wrong since depending on the base color (homozygous creams are nearly indistinguishable from one another) it really could be a cremello dun

I heard certain rumors from players that Star Stable workers answered certain players their questions about Ashland. According to them Ashland was a place holder a place the creators could possibly use in the near future as the story of Dino Valley was supposed to be continued. But then probaly got scrapped because the game shifted it's focus from the Valley of the hidden Dinosaur to Epona and Jorvik city in 2015 and 2016 and they probaly didn't already have a longterm agenda for the Valley so I guess they just forgot about this area and it's content and shifted gears. And as time went on a new management came on who didn't know what to do with the game and focussed on making more money instead of content.
They really did kill this game.
