I have the Adventurer's Pants. They're super comfortable but also very lightweight. Really good summer wear, but you are so very right about the front lacing. It is...not convenient. Juggling laces and layers could well lead to tragedy. That being said, I wouldn't mind getting a pair of the Wanderer's Pants when brown in my size is once again in stock.

interesting, I have never tried faux suede myself 4:22 I think almost anything keeps you warmer than cotton, over years of experimenting I have found cotton to be one of the worst materials for loosing heat, especially once it is wet I swear by linen pants, I am wearing a pair right now (as I am for most of my life), linen is a much better material that cotton for warmth and not getting cold when wet, but in the colder months I use a pair of wool single-hose over the top of my linen pants tied to the belt loops (not really how single-hose are meant to be worn but it works and it's warm) and for the fly, buttons is the most practical solution I have found so far if you don't want to use a zipper
I was raised in southern California and later spent thirty years in Arizona. Places like that, cotton is ideal. It's no mystery why cotton was historically, and still is, popular in warmer climates. Nowadays I live in Washington state where the climate seems much more similar to that of Medieval Europe. Finding anything other than cotton pants of any style is expensive so I go with long underwear for much of the year but I'm looking into making or buying some "tin pants", basically oiled/waxed canvas pants. Extremely durable, good heat retention and very easy to clean. They're absolutely unhistorical AFAIK (invented ca 1900 CE) but I've seen some claims that something similar was known during the "Little Ice Age" in Europe and England.

@Shinzo it's difficult to say compared to cotton canvas and denim etc... but the heavier weights seem to last a good long time. I don't hesitate to wear pants made from upholstery weight linens to slide around on the driveway doing car maintenance, while sure if I did stuff like that every day they wouldn't last nearly as long as a set of canvas overalls, but I don't notice that linen lasts any less time than any other normal clothing under relatively heavy use

ive got the cotton pair. theyve lasted me two years of normal use, but the fabric is very light, and i do worry about it tearing under heavy use. havent actually had that happen though, well worth the purchase!
I made a set quite similar to those from a pair of plain brown curtains a few years ago. Mine are a bit baggier, the leg cuffs are just on the ankle, and theres a separate tube around the waist instead of individual loops that take a belt, my lace fly doesnt go up the waist tube so any belt i wear doesnt get in the way. Currently i just have a handspun cord as a belt, but i may weave a simple ring belt for it at some point. They are quite comfortable and permit almost completely free movement. No pockets though, i made the legs one piece each so there were no outside seams to put pockets in.

Considering my costumes are more 16th century I have a pair of breeches that I wear (canvas pirate breeches) Very nice with the wanderer's pants. And you are correct a cod piece is not the way to go. A man's calves show his virility sir.
Hi once again Kramer, here's a thought, if you take pretty accurate measurements of your pants, maybe you could make a pattern and then be able to make a similar pair with any adjustments ( ie. extra hidden pockets etc.) you think would make them even better! just a thought, I do naval living history , I really hate metal grommets, I prefer to to do hand sewn grommets , they're not hard to do and will take more strain than a metal grommet as they spread the load on them more evenly around the surrounding fabric. To keep them perfectly round I use a brass washer the size of the hole i need as a form to sew around. Hope you can find this useful.
I got the recommendation for kult of Athena website from Skallagrim's channel. I've been happy with my purchases from them but haven't tried any of their clothing options. Are you familiar with them at all (wardrobe or other)?
Personally i just recieved 2 pairs of woolen hose. One in a nice lush dark green and the other in wine red. They are just a bit too long, but otherwise are really comfortable, i can mis match the colours and they compliment each other quite nicely, one only requires to hike up his coat or tunic, and undo the draws on his underpants to relieve himself. Just make sure your whole underwear situation is adequately covered by your coat/tunic.
I ues either thick cotton slacks for my armor and thin cotton pants (almost like pajama pants) for dress wear. Most of the tops I wear cover most of the modern aspects of them. Lol
My fave dwarf character wears plate and mail for his upper body and heavy boots for his feet. But he is said to skip armored pants for weight-savings and comfort reasons, and because his dwarf legs are so short anyway, and armor tassets appear to do the job. So wool or suede trousers are on tap for The Space Between™️.
I wish I were that flexible. Good sales pitch though. As for the snow thing. The flakes will continue to bounce off till the clothing reaches or exceeds a specific temperature. To hot and it will stick and melt... and you don't want that. To cold and it will cling and very slowly start to melt. Also the type of snowflake will change the interaction. But cold weather, every talks about how your supposed to wear fur on the INSIDE. If that were true, explain Eskimo clothing.
Very good video again, I m always looking forward to them. But a little pet peeve of mine: go and get a scabbard for your sword and dagger. I hate seeing bare blades stuck in a frog or something like that. Having a naked point stick out is dangerous, very often on the height of a dogs or kids eyes. Or make one. It's really dead easy with little tools needed. My preferred way right now is: Take some sheep pelt, cut the hair down to 2 or 3mm, and sew a small tube that fits your blade tightly. Now get thin wooden slaps (1-2 mm balsa for model planes works fine), cut rough to size, add wood glue liberally and glue the hose with the blade inside between those wooden slabs. (Be careful here, wood glue causes rust like crazy, either use grease very liberally or wrap the blade in plastic before). After the glue is set, take some linen, soak it in watered down wood glue and wrap it around the wooden core. That gives you a very slim and light scabbard that is still surprisingly sturdy
I'm slowly becoming addicted to Medieval Collectibles...maybe you could rig buttons and loops through the grommets. Do they breathe well in warm weather?

I had to laugh at your slight shudder when you said the word "jeans", though I'm assuming it was meant only in terms of jeans in a medieval fantasy adventurer context. I own exactly one pair of jeans. One. And they are a pair of carpenter pants that I use sometimes for work. In my off-work life I live in drop crotch harem pants, tunics, headwraps, and other assorted sort of boho/sort of fantasy apparel, which is decidedly *not* whatever is in fashion these days. I think that many of us who watch your channel would love to wear our "adventuring" fantasy apparel everyday, if we could get away with it (I pretty much already do...but I'm at an age where I can get away with giving zero fucks what anyone else thinks of my sartorial choices, something that is not easy when you are young). I also live in a very hot part of the US, so the cotton pants would definitely work for my climate. Bookmarked the Medieval Collectibles site, because they also have some great tunics!
