    I think the C5 gen tried to work out all of the kinks from the C4. The C6 wrapped up all that research nicely and Chevy created a more "bullet-proof" engine and car. Love the C6!

    The 5 things I prefer on my C5 Z06 compared to my C6 Z
    1- The ability to read trouble codes from the DIC display, I wish every car had this feature.
    2- The fixed roof coupe body. With a partition you get a separated trunk that I think is way more useful than the hatch area. Personally I also think it looks better than the coupe.
    3- Cost - the C5 is way cheaper to buy and I found parts, new and used, to be cheaper as well.
    4- Not a fan of the electronic door release on my C6. I haven't had any problems but simple is better.
    5- Pop-up headlights yo
    In every other way the C6 is objectively better though

      The C5 code system is the best 4 sure! I have never been a huge fan of the FRC vs the Coupe - but 100% subjective. C5 is the better bang for buck 4 sure! Good feedback - thanks!

      I agree about the electronic doors.....haven't found any advantage to my C6's electric doors over my C5's normal handles. Sometimes my C6 pads are a bit slow to react and don't open instantly.

    Love my 08 C6 LSthree! Veraram intake, long tube headers, NPP exhaust all welded. Tuned 400hp wheel. Engine untouched. SLP hood, spoiler, carbon diffuser, rear widebody conversion, grand sport wheels 295s and 325s. Seats are great and it’s possible to get 27 on a flat Highway.

    I've had both and love the C5 (2003) for many reasons but the C6 (2008) has so many improvements and is so much faster. I also really like the 6 speed automatic over the 4 speed in my C5. I drove manuals for a long time and I'm happy to let the car do the shifting for me now.. Unfortunately, I don't have room for two, so I sold my C5. I wish I could have kept it sometimes but the C6 is a convertible I love to put the top down so I'd probably not drive the C5 that much anyhow.

    I own a C5 convertible. A buddy of mine has a C5 coupe I remember being blown away with how much cargo space that car had! I feel like the Z06 Hardtops & Verts loose some of that space though because you can't go as high up like you can in the Coupe model.

      @@Toys4Life According to Chief Engineer Dave Hill, “We had really stretched to upgrade the C5 each year. We wanted to stretch again and annihilate the compromises we had been living with. We went at the new one with the idea of ‘more exciting’ but with a surprising amount of refinement that people wouldn’t believe possible at Corvette’s performance level. We wanted once again to exceed expectations, even if not in a clean-sheet way. But we knew customer expectations would be real high, and we set out to beat ‘em all.”
      100 Items Corrected from C5
      The team identified nearly 100 items (“dissatisfiers” as Hill calls them) that the Corvette team needed to change and/or improve based on complaints from C5 Corvette owners. Certain of these items posed a unique challenge for chief designer Tom Peters and lead exterior designer Kirk Bennison. Some of the widespread criticism the C5 received was that it was a bit large for a high-power sports car.
      Reducing size and unnecessarily bulk would increase car performance and would make the Corvette more functional in crowded urban conditions - an important consideration for Europe, where GM wanted to boost Corvette sales.

      @Toys4Life  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Toys4Life my local Chevy dealer had the car for a couple months and I kept a tile in the back of the car. The c6 would start when you put one of the keys in the emergency start slot in the glove box. I looked at my tile to make sure the car was at the Chevy dealer and it was 150 miles away at a park in another town. That upset me so I got the car back and had it fixed at a local shop and it needed a new remote radio, remote control, receiver module, and that had to be programmed by T2 system. I live in a pretty small town, so that’s why it took forever. On the other hand, I think my rear differential mount is starting to wear out. Also, my rear tires are pretty much gone so it tries to spin through second instead of drip like it used to so instead of new tires is going to be ordered tomorrow.

    Been considering getting into a corvette as a car no. 2.
    For the longest time I have been a Volvo fan, but my last 3 cars have been EVs (X, 3P and now YP).
    But some times my gf is out with the Tesla and then I might need to drive the kid to a soccer practice or something.
    So then maybe I should get a C5 or C6 vette, manual?
    It seems like its a qiute reliable car. I can do some wrenching my self, but not major inside engine work.
    However I can do like shocks, springs etc.
    It would also be fun to tune it, but not sure if it can be approved in norway with supercharger. I wonder if its more leniant on the first model C5, as the EURO-1 rules came in 98 if I remember correctly.
    It seems for me that 2006+ C6 is the toughest mechanically, then I read about the abs issue for the first c5.
    Would do a manual car of course.

    Yah-but.... which one do you like better?
    I've driven a base 05 and my 04Z on the Tail of the dragon (both driven hard). The 05 was very impressive. But my 04Z would just eat its lunch in the corners.
    And this might suprise a lot of you.. but the fitment of interior parts on my 04Z is better than the 05 base I spent time in.

      Yeah I think a C5Z is going to out handle a base C6 all day long. I'm not sure which one I like better yet, I'm slowly letting my thoughts sink in and there's always the new shiny toy syndrome that we have, I need that to fully wear off so I can compare these apples to apples.

    I sold my C5 Z06 after 3 years and ended up getting a 2006 convertible. I'd definitely say the seats are better. The seats frames are sturdier. Car is more refined/more modern feeling. The base C6 feels like a boat compared to a C5Z, though it does ride smoother. The variable assist steerting on the C6 is goofy as hell, I don't like it at all. Unless you are constantly taking fast corners in the C6, you forget it's there and when a curve comes up on the highway you will go into the lane next to you. There's like no power assist when the car is at speed but it has assist at low speeds. Doesn't feel natural and it's not intuitive. A couple important things for all LS2 Corvette owners (2005-2007):
    1. The factory LS2 air intake is a hot air intake. It has no access to outside air. This is an issue on warm climates because the LS2 also comes with a tune that pulls up to 12° of ignition timing when it sees high IATs. The IAT only has to reach 113° for the ECU to pull 7° of timing, and that's easy to do with a hot air intake. My LS2 did 12.8 @ 112 mph on my Dragy in 60° air one day and 13.3 @ 108 mph in 75° air the next day. When it reached 90° out, I was down to 105-106 mph trap speeds so this is not a joke. Remove the stock air intake and install a Vararam or Corsa sealed cold air intake immediately. I did this and gained 3 mph instantly in 90° air with no other changes.
    2. The factory LS2 Corvette intake manifold is the worst cathedral port intake manifold GM ever made. A FAST 102 is a direct bolt-on, 1-2 hours of labor and worth 20 hp and 20 lb/ft on a bone stock car.
    I installed a FAST 102, headers, a small 224/228 cam and FTI 3000 stall and it isn't even the same car.

    • @Toys4Life
      @Toys4Life  ปีที่แล้ว

      You make some damn good points! Question, where'd you get the 20 horsepower 20 ft pounds on a bone stock LS2 car for the fast 102 manifold. I know there's a significant gain, but I'm curious where you got those numbers?

      @Carguylogan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Toys4Life Yea it's not cheap but people spend more than that on headers and it's accepted to be worth the same gains as headers on the LS2. It makes power everywhere not just high rpm 👍. Mine made 385 whp SAE thru an auto with long tubes and a FAST 102 and tune.
