Hi sonic. I always leave the original plug connected and just skin the wires a bit then join / solder the new wire to that. You can also get little spade connectors that u can push into the end of your existing plug. Cheers hope that helps.

Thanks. A job for the festive season. Every thing seems to work on the radio,cassette player except there’s no sound.
Might pay to pull one speaker out and just join on a test speaker as maybe all your speakers are shot. Just a thought , cheers mate 👍

Did you use any adapters for the CD player or cut the old plug off and put a new one on for the CD player?
Got a 1996 80 series would it be the same ? "trying to install tape"
