Pokemon absolutely should not add serial cards. And saying they are "behind" is comical. They are the card market, they've created the largest IP ever in the space and they cater to their retail clients and that's why they remain so huge and profitable. The day they start making serial crap to cater to the "collector" they would begin killing their own hundred billion dollar IP.
How does replacing one monopoly (Panini) with another monopoly (Fanatics) benefit collectors? All it is going to do is keep prices high (driving some collectors away) with no assurances of better quality (driving even more collectors away)!
@mikeschmid5133 It's STILL a monopoly! And it will only become a bigger monopoly if they take over one of the grading companies! Furthermore, when one company runs it all, you have to settle for whatever the quality might be - or not be - and pay THEIR price! Vintage is not only a good long term investment, but also has historical significance, which adds to the appeal. 50s and 60s are popular because we know the names, Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Ernie Banks. I think long term, people will start pivoting towards pre-war because it is much more rare than any modern 1/1, any modern auto
I appreciate the idea of this video, but realistically the majority of the conversation was focused on the long term viability of the high end market. I'm wondering where does that leave the average person? I remember being able to buy lower end basketball/football rookies in 2009-2012 for $1-20 and now they're sometimes worth $20-500 depending on the player. That opportunity doesn't really exist because of the oversupply, so this may have an effect on us for decades like the junk wax era did. Fanatics needs to change the game otherwise we'll all be left holding huge bags with modern pop counts.

As a small player in this space this type of content is very helpful. I know there is a big industry beef right now between Geoff and Sports Card Radio which is unfortunate. I actually think that both make very good content at the end of the day. I found Sports Card Dad's channel about a year ago and his content is also very good and informative. He doesn't take sides in the beef either which is the same approach I am taking. Absent of proof I am not going to condemn Geoff for doing anything shady or underhanded that is damaging the hobby.
I’ll make one statement which sums up Geoffs gruff he gets. He has 0 sentimental aspect attached to cards. It comes across as un genuine… There’s no reason to collect cards. There cardboard. They are not investments and never have been. The word investment is used by the channel and hobby to gather interest. A bag of chips isn’t an “investment” unless you find that chip that looks like Wisconsin! Even then, a potato chip makes more sense to sell for money as it’s food. I’ve pc’d the same player for 25 years because of my dad. Geoff never once have I seen him talk about his connection to cards or family aspect. Maybe his families not involved in the hobby, fine! Or maybe why that’s why people treat Geoff like an “industry plant”. Imo just an industry plant that’s come about. This entire video there was no connecting. It was like back and further trying to “flex on each other on sports cards”. There’s no reason to collect because our personal connections, historically they do not go up unless you’re collecting the top .001% and have 6-7 figures to throw at them. Let’s stop beating around the bush
LOL, anyone who has $12k, $20k or more, to spend on a sports card doesn’t need this tutorial. We normal, blue-collar collectors are lucky to spend our milk money on a $50 non-auto prospect that may or may not flounder around in the minors for 10 yrs and end up a flop. Just in the last five yrs I’ve seen hobby boxes for even the basic product triple into the several hundreds of dollars. The hobby is for TH-camrs and breakers, it’s just not for us anymore.
Most cards will keep going down quit lying to yourselves. They're just overhyped cards. I wouldnt bother spending too much time trying to figure what will be valuable years from now. Most cards best days are behind em I would think. Its all just a guess on what stuff might go up and everyone will guess wrong anyway.

There’s no reason to collect cards.
Amen!
You should thank tax payers for funding your long term holds
awesome show guys
Great video….thanks
Papa!
How’s Will Grier doing
Geoff really it was a pump and dump by Gary V no one ever paid 700 k for a Jordan rookie that didn’t already own the card
Great video
When is Bside coming on as a special guest?
or how about Sports Card Radio - that would be GOLD
LOL, anyone who has $12k, $20k or more, to spend on a sports card doesn’t need this tutorial. We normal, blue-collar collectors are lucky to spend our milk money on a $50 non-auto prospect that may or may not flounder around in the minors for 10 yrs and end up a flop. Just in the last five yrs I’ve seen hobby boxes for even the basic product triple into the several hundreds of dollars. The hobby is for TH-camrs and breakers, it’s just not for us anymore.
I WANT THE TRUTH
Only 20k Lol....
Just do the total opposite on everything this Guy does & youll end up OK 🤞🏻🤑
Most cards will keep going down quit lying to yourselves. They're just overhyped cards.
I wouldnt bother spending too much time trying to figure what will be valuable years from now. Most cards best days are behind em I would think. Its all just a guess on what stuff might go up and everyone will guess wrong anyway.
👴🏽☝🏽
yea yea, buy more Will Grier....
Bo Bichette or James Harden?
Will Grier is the past...moved on to Desmond Ridder now 🤭
panini has no future with there licenses ending soon.. they will print as much as they can so i would not be buying up any modern day panini cards...
Ugh….it all comes down to money.
Who is going to want the Mickey Mantle in 50 years?
everyone. Who wants Honus Wagner now?
Lmao!! Comment bellow sums it up perfectly. You made such an idiotic comment, think before you make a statement please lol
Very disappointed in this one! Did not discuss the subject matter Topic instead had a podcast style conversation. Yes, you’re great yes you can make contact but why don’t you stick to the subject and talk about that instead of the mutual admiration society a lot of credibility lost here for SCI.
I legit just unfollowed this guy too. Wasn’t of fan of the sports card radio talk.
Geoff is so nice letting a dustin get an interview. His content has become junk the past year. Just a bunch retweeted response videos
Why is there so much hate and negativity in the hobby? If you like the content, cool watch it. If not, move on. Im just glad there is content to consume in the hobby. All you could find in 2019 was breaks online
Not negativity just truth and facts if you don't like a health debate on the hobby you don't have to read the comments just watch the one side view in the video
It's Dustin!
I've been buying up joe montana rookie cards. I think they are way underpriced.
