    The "2,8-cm-schwere Panzerbüchse 41" (no it's not a Busch, that the thing with leaves), was used on the Sd.Kfz. 221 (4x4 scout car, which initially was only armed with a mg), 250 and 251. It was a replacement for the 3.7cm PaK, at least sort of, the lack of tungsten never allowed to build large numbers. well, this is not quite true, nearly 3000 were built, but already in 1941, so the year the gun was introduced, that the amount of ammunition was limited. So the gun was never really used by anti tank units (except the paratroopers And even here limited), but only units the would "fire less" (like reconnaissance units).
    In general I would think of this more as being used as an anti material rifle and not an anti tank gun, similar to the Boys AT rifle later in it's service life.

    Looking forward to this! I always liked the sawn-off half tracks xD

    Very good review. As a model kit builder I always go through the instructions looking for how to avoid difficult assembly points. You did a great job of this on this kit.

    The 250 was suppose to come out at the same time the SD Kfz 251 in late summer 1939, but there was problems with it's tracks and suspension for it so it was delayed until right before (April 1941) Barbarossa. But the 250/9 replaced a lot of armored cars (222, 231) in the recon role as it was able to at least operate in the deep mud that was the Eastern Front in Spring and Fall in the spring of 1943.

    4:04 it is Panzerbüchse not Panzerbusche. ;)
    Source: I am german.
    PS: Since you don't have "Umlaute" (ü, ö, ä) on your keyboard you can also write the "ü" as "ue", so Panzerbuechse would work too.

      @@ModellingforAdvantageI think the biggest problem is that CHS makes an X sound in German so instead of Bush it sounds more like Buxa

    Lovely looking model and some really useful tips on the build don’t think the wing mirror would last long if I was using and transporting the model :)

      Very true - lots of parts likely to come off with my rough handling too.

    Ooh, a baby halftrack - so cute! I got one of these direct from Warlord as I had an unused voucher, still not sure which variant to build, they all look useful (which obviously means I'll end up buying another 2 eventually). Thanks for the construction tips, I'm not sure any of the driver cab stuff is particularly needed whichever model you build - good old 3 feet rule comes into play here I think.

      If you only have one, I would go for the cheap armoured car personally, but then I didn;t already have one.

      Yeah, not sure what happened there - fortunately I can cut it out on TH-cam - it just takes a while for it to take effect. Thanks for the info.

    Quality tips there 👍. Both tips will save a lot of bad language and spilt plastic glue I expect 😆. Nice looking kit.

    If you are playing large games you can have a recon squad of lets say 10 men be split into two transports. Thus you can transport a ten man recon squad on two 250 halftracks. Each can transport 5 men. You can look it up in the appendix on page 217.

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep I saw that, but could not imagine ever wanting to do it.

  • @andraslibal
    @andraslibal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    High time to revise the rule where armored transports just run away instead of doggedly providing covering fire until destroyed (which is what they would actually do).
    That whole automatically runs away rule is the worst rule in all of Bolt Action, the crew and machine gunners of troop transports stayed and provided fire they did not run away.

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the rule mostly exists to prevent people using trucks and jeeps as assault vehicles. It makes less sense with things like these, for example.

    • @andraslibal
      @andraslibal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModellingforAdvantage so please please please correct it in the errata :) It would be great. Softskins are so easy to shoot and kill at why not let at least a few bullets or an assault wasted for a dice. Let them at least toss a grenade for that dice removed.

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@andraslibal I have found softskins in BA to be quite a bit tougher than I would expect - you still need to roll a 6 to do damage with rifles and machine guns.

    • @andraslibal
      @andraslibal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModellingforAdvantage or if you are just that close you assault it it has no troops to dismount so it cannot even fight back and all you need is soem damage it is destroyed. I think it is very easy to assault and kill a softskin or even an open topped armored transport with only the driver. But the cost should not be ZERO. At least an action.

    Nice unboxing

  • @mattcappelli5822
    @mattcappelli5822 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Half tracks are rather tedious kits. I built an older one and painted the interior before assembling the upper hull. More time consuming than a tank. Looks cool, but I never field it because of how over costed they are in BA.

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, although these ones are a bit cheaper - they mighyt just work out for me.

  • @BrushQuill
    @BrushQuill 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A nice looking little kit, you reckon you could get use out of the spare infantry easily, if so inclined?

  • @uztaila79
    @uztaila79 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice unboxing! Do you think it is possible to make the three versions from one kit? Maybe with magnets? For the price of one you get three vehicles

    • @ModellingforAdvantage
      @ModellingforAdvantage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Possibly but not without a great deal of work - there are no easy places to stick magnets for the turret ring, for example. You will also have some peripheral parts unique to particular variants which are far too small to be switching in and out.
