Backhoes can do an enormous amount of work for road building if you dont have a dozer. The backhoe attachment will also save your butt if you are working toward the edge such as backdragging to spread, smooth and level and sometimes the edge starts to give way. Since you can lift your hind end real quick like a jack and move your rear tires back on safer more solid ground. Or even dig the backhoe in and pull yourself out of danger. I've done quite a few road improvement where the edge erodes away over time and it must be built back up. That new dirt is very soft until compacted so it often starts to give way while you're working the edge. It helps a lot to have angular rock mixed in so it holds together like a matrix and doesnt erode much due to this. Another trick is to use a lighter machine for doing edge work. And a big machine like he is using here for the heavy clearing and moving of large rocks and dirt.

@Mark Gagnon, We respect your thought that the crops should not be destroyed. But for years this area farmers are facing difficulties in the absence of farm road. In previous to this video ( near by the end of that video), we have attempted to take an interview with a farmer, there the farmer said his thought regarding this road being made. He seemed to be very happy for his easy farm life in the days to come. Jimmy Carter said the truth, this new road is needed to take their crops to the market.
This new road will allow the farmers of this area get their crops to the market. Without the road, the farmers have to manually carry all of their crops down off the mountainside to the towns below.
A very good job done by the backhoe operator. The mountain people will be very happy with the new road.

As a farmer I always hate to see you digging up the crops. Hopefully it is for the better good and not for TH-cam videos.
The farmers in this area of Nepal need this new road to take their crops to the market.
