Nothing like a good bit of scratch building!! Before mag racing we used to scratch build all our buildings for our bespoke tracks. If anyone is up for the challenge of kit bashing 3 or 4 kits into one super structure then give us a shout and I’ll organise a discount code - would love to see that!! Loving what you’re creating!!!
The layout is taking shape and I am looking forward to seeing one of your driving videos. About the cost of materials. I purchased a 10” band saw before I built my track. I buy regular timber and mill it to width on the band saw. I tried the spray foam, but decide to go for the blue high density foam boards and I can cut it to shape and slice it to any width on the band saw. It is stabilised and much cheeper than spray foam. Keep up the work its taking shape now cheers.
Hey there Shane. Nice double F-40 pack. 🙂 I could not read here in any comment, mentionning the angle of the ramping up, or dowmwards. A point, one needs to consider, if doing so. Certain slotcars will not like sharp angles in the front and rear, going up, or down. If the ramping is planned, always take different cars and check the angles out, if they grind in the front or rear. It is the same with the banked curves. Certain cars cannot run through them, because of the reasons I mentioned, without damaging them. Always keep that in mind, when planning to do so ;-) So welcome to the crazy world of wood and its supply chains! Besides the fact, that wood had exlpoded in the costs the recent years, especially during Covid, when everyone was allowed to go into home-improovement stores, but nowhere else, it has become a well sought after product. The more request, the higher the price. Think about the supply chain as well. If the timber leaves the saw-mills and is delivered elsewhere, prices for transport and so on, raise the prices. Than, if chopped and trimmed to its forms, another process raiseing the costs until it finally arrives at home-improovement stores and hobby shops, here is your reason, why wood is so bloody expensive! If you have a friend, who is into woodworking, or know a good woodworking shop, who has the right tools to shape it into form, consider to contact him/her, If you do not have the right hand tools, or power-tools for the job yourself. Lucky if you have a table-saw, a band-saw, different planers, routers, grinders and so on. Those are the tools, you would definetly need for the job. Over the years, I assembled a lot of those tools and I am not at the end with it yet. Besides my lack of space, it costs a lot of money to buy the quality tools you will need. If you buy cheap, you`ll always buy twice, is not only the truth, also wisdom. Than, you can get it all done. If not, you are the dummy at the end of the line and have to pay those high end prices. Sad, but true. But don`t let yourself being blocked by those bollocks. Keep going forward Mate! 🙂
Catching the replay. Nice set there..F40's that is. Watchung made me think of Lincoln logs. Got a Track fantv mug and tee shirts. Daughter snatched the tee..from me. THATSLOTCARGUY has some magic coffee mugs. They are cool. The rabbit 🕳 🕳 🕳 🕳 's just keep getting bigger 😅😂😅😂. Great build going on. Thinking some rusted corrugated roof material. Really cool stuff.. The syrings, sound great. And the bkack n white of the 💩 shute looks amazing.. Stayed up past midnight here on the 22nd, that way i knew i lived tovsee 68 lol. .. cheers
Hughes, u made the track supports difficult mate! Tip, option, instead of using craft wood lenghts, use 12 or 19 mm plywood, cut a square or rectangle that covers the width and height u need, draw the supporting columns and beams onto the plywood, use a spade bit and jigsaw to cut the shapes out, this way u have a one piece supporting system. I've got a 3 level set-up where no 2 supporting columns are the same. If i knew how to attach a image here i would, hope this helps 🎉
Imagination is amazing as always. The way the poop chute is coming together looks great. The graffiti idea on the inside I’m looking forward to. Keep up the amazing videos.
Excellent Floyd intro followed by a great video👍 I would be peed off with the book damage, why people can’t package a book properly is beyond me!! Don’t get me started on wood pricing 😡 Same here in UK, put hobby or craft in front of something and it’s a licence to print money
Watching now mate but, before I forget by the end of the video - the proper name for the cross section or rafter as you put it 😆 might in some parts be known as a Sofit 😉..... 5 mins, so far, so good from Bris-Vegas! hahaha
Good video, I'm enjoying seeing it coming together - it'd be much quicker if Betty was about but, I heard she's on the slow boat back from the U.S, any ideas where she is ledge?
Very cool, you got me thinking when you said maybe build another mountain but make it a plateau. if you did that you could cantelever the track off the side of this new mountain. Maybe something similar to China's glass walkway in Tianmen mountain
Mate love the poop shoot um um ok that came out wrong😂😂😂 love your work mate really cool have you seen mad max furyosa yet I loved it great cars in that too hey for that corner mountain why not the mad max mountain where they release the water from anyway thanks mate 🤟🤟
Poop Shute is looking great! 😂😂Good to use your imagination to build from scratch. What's the silver discs for on your studio Wall mate? Great episode, will inspire others to scratch build too!🙂

Looking good, scenery is by far the most expensive aspect.

Love the tunnel bridge and the challenge for the bash kit of magnetic racing sounds like that would be fun. As long as it’s not the Ferris wheel. 😂😂😂
In case you might decide to kit bash several kits, Doug at MagRac has commented and said to contact him first for a discount code. 😎👍
setting the standard once more
Hi love your TH-cam channel
Mate great work and i haven't heard that floyed track in agies🤘

The craft wood you have bought from Bunnings, is more than likely dressed pine. The Poop Shoot is going to look amazing once it is finally finished.

Early show today 🙂
Yea, your member!
Hi Shane it's called a cross member regards Malcolm
LOL, I got a 40 year old Sclaextric F40 only yesterday, am I behind the curve?
Poop Shute is looking great! 😂😂Good to use your imagination to build from scratch. What's the silver discs for on your studio Wall mate? Great episode, will inspire others to scratch build too!🙂
Thanks mate. Framed discs in studio are various local music industry awards for writing, producing, mixing, album production etc
@@HughesGarageSCA That’s brilliant! Love your channel, always makes me laugh! 😆
Looks good but one question how did you bend the track at the bottom of the chute?
The track comes like that in a set - four shaped pieces.
