In this video, I have shared my experience of visiting the Biggest temple of Bangladesh - Dhakeshwari Temple. Dhakeshwari National Temple is a Hindu temple in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is state-owned, giving it the distinction of being Bangladesh's 'National Temple'. The name "Dhakeshwari" (ঢাকেশ্বরী Ðhakeshshori) means "Goddess of Dhaka". Since the destruction of Ramna Kali Mandir in 1971 by the Pakistan Army during the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Dhakeshwari Temple has assumed status as the most important Hindu place of worship in Bangladesh. It is also the largest Hindu temple in Bangladesh. This temple is part of the famous Shakti Peethas in Indian Subcontinent. Here the gem of sati's crown had fallen.

The Dhakeshwari (Durga) temple was built in the 12th century by Ballal Sen, a king of the Sena dynasty, and it is said that the city Dhaka was named after the Goddess.

The name of the city Dhaka comes from maa Dhakeshwari Mandir, chottogram from maa chatweshwari , jessore from Joshoreshwari, sylhet from Srihotto.

There are a road in Chattogram called "Chatteshwsri Road"
It's not 100% confirmed if the names of the cities were derived from the deity's name or if it was the other way around. But it is confirmed that centuries ago people used to pray to localised deities like Dhakeshwari, Chatweshwari etc. People believed their city had It's own deity tasked to protect it and ensure prosperity.
Even in Sundarbans, there is a unique local deity (Bondevi/bonchondwi) who is believed to watch over the forest, keep its balance and protect the locals from tigers. Locals there(both hindus and muslims) who collect honey, leaves etc from the forest believe in this deity.
@@MashZ there is no such this as localised deities, chatweshwari, Dhakeshwari, Joshoreshwari all are different name of goddess Kali Ma or Durga Ma in different form, basically showcasing the pluralism of Hinduism.
As for Sylhet is concerned, or previously know as Srihotto, it is one of the 51 traditional Shakti peeths of bondhu mythology. The others in Bengal region are mainly in kalighat(Kolkata), bordhoman, nabadwip, chandranath in Chittagong, bogra, barishal and many more.
I am proud to be a Hindu . I am also Bangladeshi . In Dhaka city you can also explore re build Ramana kali temple, Iscon Temple and others temple also. Shakhari Bazar near Buriganga river, there lives many Hindu people.

If you travel in Bangladesh again, I recommend you to travel along with a Bangladeshi. Than you will not just explore the beautiful Bangladesh but also the amazing life of Bangladeshi people. Besides, the river in which you traveled in a boat, my father said once the great Rabindranath Tagore visited Dhaka and in his visit he did not stay in any resident. In the whole time of his visit he stay on Buriganga river on a boat. So that he can enjoy the beauty of the Buriganga river. Alas, the mighty and beautiful Buriganga river has lost its glorious day.
The happiness in the eyes of that shopkeeper who said, "aap bhi Hindu ho." Latest communal violence in Bangladesh is the reason and it shows the plight of minority Hindus there. Temples should not be under government control though Sheikh Hasina govt is doing decent job for the sake of temples.

Yes my beloved Dhaka, the city of my birth is named after this Temple of Maa Dhakeshwari (Durga). Coming from a Muslim family; I am proud of this history and the beautiful name of the temple and the city. There is no point of following any religion if it cannot teach you humanity, tolerance, peace and harmony. Apart from few incidents here and there; we the Bangalis from Bangladesh irrespective of our religious background love to live together in peace. We tend to forget that the high caste Bangali land lords used to have their palaces in Kolkata and from there they used to rule the poor East Bangalis as the Jamindars or Land Lords. But then we have noticed West Pakistanis want to be our rulers too. So, in 1971 East Bengal or East Pakistan became my beautiful Bangladesh. No doubt India helped us 1971; but we East Bengalis also helped Indian freedom from the British Rule. A lot of Indians tend to forget that. Since Independence Bangladesh is progressing. Now, we should do more business with India and Pakistan. But, we Bangladeshis must keep our distance from Indians and Pakistanis at the same time; because they hate and look down on Bangladeshis. This is a fact. Bangladeshi tourism and import dependency with India must be reduced in the near future. We should have stronger border walls with India and grow our own cattle. We should strictly reduce any religious extremism at all cost. I do not want my beautiful Bangladesh to become the next Pakistan or Afghanistan. In Dhaka city there are ISCKON temple & Loknath temple at Swamibag area, Ramna kali temple at Dhaka University area, Raksha Kali temple, Shani temple & Radha Krishna temple at thathari bajar area etc. The Kantojew temple is situated at Dinajpur district which is also a big & historically famous temple.
