Oh wow! I’m so happy you did Filipino food. I’ve been wanting to suggest that you eat “Dinengdeng” which is also an Ilocano dish like Pinakbet. It has a lot of vegetables and you pair it with fried fish.

Ok fam, want your opinions. I am finally where I have a few choices for restaurants. For my birthday I get to choose where we eat. Want to try something new. Y’all let me know which I should choose. Korean, Filipino, or Thai
I would say Korean food is definitely something that is more catered to simple palates. Filipino and Thai food are very similar and they have a lot of vegetables and contains fish sauce and fermented fish paste. Many of the dishes may be an acquired taste. All three are great, but if you have people that are picky, you may want to ask them what they don’t want to eat 😂
Edit: Not all of them has fish sauce/paste.
If you’re gonna pick Filipino Food, Jollibee is a great option. It’s always a place where people go to for parties, and their foods are definitely suitable for birthdays. It wont have the authentic Filipino dishes but if you like Spaghetti, Fried Chicken, Burgers (and if a lot of kids are coming), I’m sure they’ll like Jollibee.
For Korean, they don’t just have spicy foods. Korean fried chicken also hits harder than anything, and you might find a place which has Korean BBQ which is GOOD. Cooking your own meat definitely gives you some extra pleasure and there’s always so many side dishes they can give you.
Now I haven’t eaten much of Thai food so I don’t think I’m in the right to say anything so I’ll leave it to someone who’s Thai, or maybe SAS can advice you more. She has way more experience than most of us anyways xD
@@juwry6526 thank you! Was steering toward Korean because none of us are familiar with fermented foods other than cabbage and most don’t like it. Definitely don’t want burgers or chicken but have heard Korean fried chicken is premium. Want to try basic bibimbap and soft tofu stew, grilled fish and such.
We do like spice (a little). Not SAS level for sure!😂🤯. Sorry to admit it and yes it’s a generalization but pretty typical American southern and white. Our heat is usually in form of hot sauce for our nachos or jalapeño peppers at most!🤣
@@ninajones1175 It is alright not to be familiar with fermented foods! And don’t even get started with spice tolerance, that is so so okay. My family is Asian and my mom can barely handle black peppers 😂. There are many Korean foods that aren’t spicy and the ones that you listed are really good! You should also try bulgogi which are thin sliced marinated beef. Japchae is also good. It is glass noodles with vegetables that aren’t overwhelming. If you like the taste of sesame, Japchae is good! Korean fried chicken is exactly like you said, *premium*. I think of it as the king of kings when it comes to the chicken industry. If all of your people are of drinking age, I’d suggest drinking beer or whatever alcohol you like with the chicken. I hope you have a good birthday 💗 I’m also pretty curious on how it goes so if you have time you can share what happened.
