So instead of having to hire all these people who are delightful and have good voices, they record them all then just have the humans choose which responses to "say" Then you can hire complete idiots and pretty much anyone to do it. Furthermore, you can outsource to another country without it seeming like it is being outsourced. If you want to test it.. when one calls tell them to repeat a phrase after you and say some weird made up phrase. They wont have it recorded and wont be able to.

The woman I was talking to thought she was still on the automatic response thing that asks for ID and stuff. xD I have to say, I was very tempted to pretend I was a robot at that point, and I think the girl in the video did too.
I work in customer service for an ISP, me and my fellow work mates all have this thing we do where we try and sound like robots for as long as possible during the call. It's always great when we get a review about how smooth the process of the call was and how advanced our machines are.
I like answering unknown numbers in Japanese. If it's a human, I just continue speaking in Japanese and they eventually give up. If it's a robot, their robot brains can't handle it and they hang up.

I think people understand the philosophical breakthrough this RTAA has. This can further support the claims of materialist. That robot has past the Turing test, it was able to convince Burnie in thinking it was human. Burnier was unable to tell whether or not the conversation he was having was with another human or a computer.
You know RTAA episodes where you remember the story and know it's gonna be great, and before it even loads its on your favourite list? This was one of those for me.
anytime you cant tell if it is a bot or not ask what is 2 plus T, W, O type it or spell it out whether or not its by text or talk, if they dont say 4 hang up
Best Turing Test I have found is asking a simple math question, ie 6x7, a normal human will answer it, a machine won't know how to because it's not a prompt that they're programmed to respond to.
this is common for a few call centers where they have pre recorded responses and there's a person who just clicks on the appropriate or inappropriate response
For anyone wondering: It was absolutely a robot. About a month before Burnie talked about this on the podcast, their was an NPR story about these bots that included an interview with one of the guys working on it, and even having the host go through a conversation with the bot (before they revealed that it was a robot and that it wasn't just a piece on telemarketing), and the conversation was exactly like the one Burnie described.
