During Linebacker II, out of 200+ B-52s and 2,000 tactical aircraft sent against Hanoi over the course of 12 days and nights, A mere 16 B-52s and 12 tactical aircraft were shot down, despite 250-300 SA-2s being launched over its course and the use of 30 some MiG-21s, 6 of which were shot down, and 16 or so MiG-17s.
The best part was the genuine panic he was trying to hide! Like many of you I've watched it several times over, he's got a subtle layer of full-on panic in his voice!

That ending is like something out of the Twilight Zone. There’s a weird existential horror to it that I wasn’t expecting from a series of funny Arma 3 videos.
If you ever wonder what it's like to come back from war - that's what it's like. Everything changes and then it's as though none of that ever happened - the friends you made, the experiences you had, seeing the best and worst in humanity - all gone. I was half expecting him to drift off, maybe have a few flashbacks or moments of nostalgia, just working a "normal" job in a "normal" life. Some days you do have the existential crisis. It's the biggest culture shock (in a way) I've ever had.
Gonna be honest, was expecting to see the pink shirt businessman in the ending scene somewhere. Hell, he might be there and I just missed him for all I know.

Honestly I don't know why, but that ending is something so strange, like watching the end of a series that ended 6 years ago, this weird, nostalgia-like feeling. Something about that end in the taxi then shop, with Womble humming the badgers tune, it's impossible to describe. When you die that ending needs to be played at your funeral.

Pretty much all of the stuff shown in this video happened long after the glitch that ended everything. The glitch just forced them to start over and provided Soviet a way to end this TH-cam version of the story in a funny way.
On the plus side, the A.I. subsequently crashed the game, so much like learning from ZF, it managed to destroy itself in the process. The world is saved. For now.

Nah, the server was completely dead at this point. Nobody's movement was getting synced to the other players; note that nobody was moving from Womble's perspective either. What's interesting to me is that I didn't notice the good ol' broken red chain icon indicating connection issues; I guess somehow the server crashed in such a way that it was still *technically* running, but not actually updating anything? They managed to pull off a really weird crash here. They could still talk because that was handled separately via Teamspeak, through good ol' Task Force Arrowhead Radio (TFAR). TFAR takes the positions of the players in-game and sets their 3D audio positions in TS accordingly, all client-side. Since Cy was next to them according to his client, he heard them, but since his position wasn't being synced to the other players none of them could have heard him. If one of the other guys had gone out and found wherever Cy was at the moment the server crashed, they could've heard him talking. Cy not being teleported in the first place is a fairly common issue with Arma teleport scripts when dealing with people in vehicles; you can move the person, and they'll be at the destination for one frame, but then Arma will snap them back into the vehicle. Hence, the moment of ocean Cy saw. You have to make sure to dismount them first and then move them, which this script apparently did for drivers but for some reason not passengers. Not sure why he wasn't teleported the second time (to the surf club) though. ... this became a much longer explanation than I thought it would be when I started. Sorry, I guess? Hope it was at least somewhat enlightening.
My theory is when the badgers fell for the first time when the mortar alerted the Russians, it gave Soviet brain damage. The past 5 videos was just an episode and towards the end, he slowly realized what happened. Soviet, the mortar incident wasn't your fault.

Imagine the nightmare though. You're in a vehicle with your friends. You guys happily talk about the failed missions, and joyfully making remarks on each other about how each of you is worse than the other. Then suddenly, they're gone. You find yourself alone in the passenger seat. You hesitate for a second, then decide to check the radio. Complete silence. You go back to your base, hoping that somehow, they arrived there. You brace yourself for the possibility that they might not be there, gone forever. But the reality is even worse. When you arrive, you see them in a group, and you can hear them talking about the failure of the revolution. You gleefully come to them, but you realize that they completely ignore you. You first dismiss it as a joke, but after telling them to stop it increasingly worryingly, you really start panicking. Turns out, you can't even interact with them. Or anyone for that matter. And even in their discussion, you're not even mentioned once. Like you never existed. After a bit, you sit down, pondering what you should do with this ghostly half-life. At that point, someone puts a hand on your shoulder " - Come on kid, it's not that bad. Sure, you might feel a bit abandoned at first, but don't worry, the feeling disappears after a while. Plus, now you're not alone anymore. We can support each other through this. I guess you could say that this is the start of an unexpected friendship. My name is Petros, what's yours?"

I could see this as a movie. A group of friends in a resistance together when one day all but one disappears. When he returns to base, he finds them there, but they don’t respond, quite literally seeing right through him. He exists on a plane where the resistance existed, and they live on a plane where it was simply their imagination.
After multiple watches (the VODs on Twitch are good background for wargaming painting) and a month into my own clan's Antistasi campaign, I finally figured out WTF actually happened to Petros. Moogle had Petros grouped with him, specifically (since he's the player commander) in order to transport Petros to the new HQ. Moogle is part of Womble's Task Group, and therefore shows up on Womble's HUD. On the original VOD, during the cleanup after firefight at the checkpoint, Moogle lost connection, and disconnected a few moments later. At that point, both Moogle and Petros disappeared from Womble's HUD/ShacTac. On the line "thank you whoever saved me", both Moogle and Petros are no longer displayed there. In Antistasi, if you're controlling an AI and log off, the AI is transported to the garbage zone in the bottom corner of the map, and at the next server tick the AI is deleted and the HR is refunded. This is what happened to Petros, and this is why the team was transported to the garbage zone when Quebec tried to teleport them there. However, being deleted and being "killed" are two different game states (normal AI which is deleted refunds your HR stat, but not if it's killed). Since Petros wasn't "killed", the Game Over screen never proc'd for them. Thus, similar to the incident with the "mobile explosive device" and Aizen's dead-man switch, ZF is made victim to their own poor internet connections. Had Moogle not DC'd, this never would have happened.
TL:DR Petros was grouped with Moogle. Moogle's conection commited a die. Petros got sent to the "garbage zone (Map Origin, probably)", then got deleted. Deleted != Killed. No Game Over, as Petros _technically_ didn't get killed. [EDIT1:Clarified last line, explained Garbage Zone]
Man, that ending really makes you think what it must be like for people who actually fight through wars to just stumble back into peaceful society. I'd imagine that would be difficult.
I love how in any COD game the “push up with the Bradley!!” segment lasts no more than 2 minutes before the fucker is reduced to scrap, but in Arma, the Bradley is the peak of human engineering.

I think Cy is meant to represent Soviet's inner self. The man of action that has been kept down due to a lifetime of complacency. Him fading away is Sovi's satisfaction and realizing he doesn't need a bombastic life to be fulfilled. In the end, all he needs is a good day with his mates and a content look toward the beach.

You know ZF is legendary when instead of losing their commander in a firefight like normal functionnal players would, they make him ascend to a higher plane of existence.
What if this is a time loop? What if in every time line petros disappears and ZF go back to their civilian lives, where in the near future they get recruited to a rebellion named “the badgers” by a man who looks suspiciously like a certain team member who they thought had disappeared along with petros?
i think its phase shifting, or cyanide being insane. when cyanide gets shot down, he befriends a turtle which gets murdered by the strafing Apache. after losing the turtle that makes a long and traumatizing swim, he gets back to land to find all his friends dead and loses it, imagining them to still be alive. the rest of the badgers had actually been shifted into a new reality, meaning when they get teleported cyanide is left behind with the figments he has left.
If this was an anime Cyanide would be a mad spirit of war and it was only once they broke free of him that they could return to their normal lives. Probably what's actually going on to be honest.
Holy christ the whole catastrophe starting at 15:00 is absolute gold. Sometimes I pull up this episode while drunk, and the entire bit still makes me laugh to tears.
I like that ending, where Soviet is humming "The Badgers" song and laughing to himself remembering fun memories of total mayhem and anarchy with his friends. And considering that ending, maybe Cyanide was just the embodiment of the chaos of The Badgers members, and when that all ended he just faded into obscurity. But who knows, maybe this is not the end but rather the end of the beginning. And maybe the sparks of revolution erupts once again in Altis, when the imagined leader of Petros appear for the first time. And that in the chaos revolution spread, the embodiment of chaos that is Cyanide will return to spread anarchy across Altis once more.
Okay, I have to get this of my chest, it's 2021, almost 2022, and I'm still watching these bullshittery episodes, and still enjoying them. Even though I have heard all the jokes and shananigans hundreds of times. Can we all just acknowledge the sheer quality of editing and the unforced chemistry of this clan? Seriously, Soviet and zf as a whole in my book are "up there" in the weird world of TH-cam where quantity usually exceeds quality. FYI, why am I alone at new year's Eve you ask? Well, the missus is at work and we had 3 days of Christmas celebrations with both families, so much food and equally amount of drinks, I kinda like this relaxing new year's eve to be honest. I can't believe it, it still gives me goosebumps to this very day the last moments of them remembering the resistance and how these people talk as friends. As you listen to their conversations you get to feel how genuine they are and how it could've been very sad and happy at the same time how the resistance ended if it was real. sad for the people who disappeared and happy for most of the members to function back to the society. I dont know why but this is by far my favorite video and it keeps stabbing my heart every time I watch it.
2 years later and this ending still is one of the best things to ever have come out of a bullshittery. Let's hope that at some distant day the Badgers will return once more.
Alternative theory: Cyanide is actually the only real person. He disappeared, and everyone else "turned to npcs". They were npcs all along, fueled by Cy's overactive imagination.
Where are the Badgers now? They are living among us. Average citizens, average heroes. Quietly and anonymously continuing to make Altis a better place.

This episode is so brilliant. The parallels to a story of your best friend moving on is done so well. Sometimes in life you meet wonderful people and out of nowhere they are suddenly gone yet you continue living your life. They are still friends but they are no longer there in the way they used to be. This is one of the best videos ever made but also pointless and funny to those that have never experienced the feeling. You are an artist. Thank you.
Yea it was amazing, this could be a co0l movie, like a bunch of guys have mass hallucination about having and insugency and almost take over the island, but then a shark eats Steve the sea turtle, who they thought were Cyanide, and suddenly they all "wake up" and realize they were just out surfing. And all the figthing and war crimes were nothing but imagination, when the root of the evil to their mind was removed.

My theory is when the badgers fell for the first time when the mortar alerted the Russians, it gave Soviet brain damage. The past 5 videos was just an episode and towards the end, he slowly realized what happened. Soviet, the mortar incident wasn't your fault.

I could see this as a movie. A group of friends in a resistance together when one day all but one disappears. When he returns to base, he finds them there, but they don’t respond, quite literally seeing right through him. He exists on a plane where the resistance existed, and they live on a plane where it was simply their imagination.

After multiple watches (the VODs on Twitch are good background for wargaming painting) and a month into my own clan's Antistasi campaign, I finally figured out WTF actually happened to Petros.
Moogle had Petros grouped with him, specifically (since he's the player commander) in order to transport Petros to the new HQ. Moogle is part of Womble's Task Group, and therefore shows up on Womble's HUD. On the original VOD, during the cleanup after firefight at the checkpoint, Moogle lost connection, and disconnected a few moments later. At that point, both Moogle and Petros disappeared from Womble's HUD/ShacTac. On the line "thank you whoever saved me", both Moogle and Petros are no longer displayed there.
In Antistasi, if you're controlling an AI and log off, the AI is transported to the garbage zone in the bottom corner of the map, and at the next server tick the AI is deleted and the HR is refunded. This is what happened to Petros, and this is why the team was transported to the garbage zone when Quebec tried to teleport them there. However, being deleted and being "killed" are two different game states (normal AI which is deleted refunds your HR stat, but not if it's killed). Since Petros wasn't "killed", the Game Over screen never proc'd for them.
Thus, similar to the incident with the "mobile explosive device" and Aizen's dead-man switch, ZF is made victim to their own poor internet connections. Had Moogle not DC'd, this never would have happened.
I didn't understand half of that, but I'm glad to know someone can explain it!

i think its phase shifting, or cyanide being insane. when cyanide gets shot down, he befriends a turtle which gets murdered by the strafing Apache. after losing the turtle that makes a long and traumatizing swim, he gets back to land to find all his friends dead and loses it, imagining them to still be alive. the rest of the badgers had actually been shifted into a new reality, meaning when they get teleported cyanide is left behind with the figments he has left.
Love how the ending implies that ZF could lead normal lives without the constant war crimes and other insane antics if Cyanide never existed.

And maybe the sparks of revolution erupts once again in Altis, when the imagined leader of Petros appear for the first time. And that in the chaos revolution spread, the embodiment of chaos that is Cyanide will return to spread anarchy across Altis once more.

I can't believe it, it still gives me goosebumps to this very day the last moments of them remembering the resistance and how these people talk as friends. As you listen to their conversations you get to feel how genuine they are and how it could've been very sad and happy at the same time how the resistance ended if it was real. sad for the people who disappeared and happy for most of the members to function back to the society. I dont know why but this is by far my favorite video and it keeps stabbing my heart every time I watch it.
2 years later and this ending still is one of the best things to ever have come out of a bullshittery. Let's hope that at some distant day the Badgers will return once more.

I assumed it was just co-ordinates 0,0. Much like how in the real world, 0,0 is also in the ocean and pulses every 26 seconds, detectable on seismographs around the globe. I wonder how many errored objects are there in real life
