The Mt. Massive Experience

This is a hike we did on October 2nd of 2024.
We set out to conquer Mt. Massive, the 2nd tallest mountain in Colorado. It sits right outside Leadville, just west of Highway 24. What a wonderful, brutal, fun, epic, day of hiking and suffering!
This was a long 14.5 mile round-trip hike with an elevation gain of 4,500ft.
Class 2 hike with minimal scrambling up at the top. Blue skies all day with no concern for weather or conditions.
Definitely a hike/mountain to train for. DO NOT TAKE LIGHTLY!!!
I repeat, do not take lightly! We didn't under estimate this mountain but we sure didn't expect how brutal the climb up it was after the tree line. One of the harder 14er's we have done in terms of length and elevation climb. Put Quandary and Grays Peaks to shame for sure. Def will not do this hike again, lol.
But had a wonderful week in Breckenridge, Colorado. Perfect weather all week. Not a cloud in the sky. Def someone up stairs was looking out for us.
Want to give a big shout out to 14er's.com as well as LMNT and Skratch for the hydration products we used. Couldn't of been more prepared. Also Jetboil and REI were big components to our success. To friends and family, you are critical to all our achievements, without you this would not be possible.
Again, what an epic hike with no injuries and beautiful views!
