Good morning. I’m interested in becoming an advanced ground instructor. I’ve seen the requirements and testing centers. However, I’m having a difficult time finding any curriculum tailored to advanced ground school instructor. Any suggestions?

I have all of my CFI students get the AGI, and the IGI for the CFII. It’s valid for all ratings... meaning my CFI airplane can teach and sign off Helicopter Ground Training. Hugely helpful for schools who teach both.

O'BEN my students go to the FSDO to get it.

I never had to get a IGI.
My AGI Certificate has an
Instrument Rating on it.

I believe that the reason for getting the GI or AGI rating is not to "Just get another rating" but to promote and advocate aviation safety by teaching in-depth theoretical knowledge.

It is good to get the AGI when you do your CFI written. It only requires the written and you will be prepared when you do your
CFI written to do the AGI written. Get your IGI written done when you do your CFII written. I was advised to do so and did, and I'm glad! The don't expire and might open a few doors for you, as well as show your dedication to the craft.

Take it even a step further and do the igi and cfii at the same time as your instrument rating written. All three are the same basically. Just gotta make sure you get your cfii checkride within 2 years of you passing cfii knowledge test

Are there any requirements for someone to get the FOI/AGI as a Private Pilot? Would like to be a ground instructor, what are your thoughts?

You don't need to be a pilot or have a medical to be a ground instructor.

hope you resume your heli school... get a study buddy.... could be your spouse or a teenage kid
set aside some time, days off from work.... so you can fly more than once a week

I had a question. After i finish my ground instructor writtens and fill out iacra, what do i do then? Can another CFI Finish the application or do i have to bring the papers to the FSDO?

A little late here, but ASA has an Instructor test prep. it covers Flight Instructor, Ground Instructor and Sport Pilot Instructor.
