  • This week we returned to the Thames Estuary. We went looking for tiny metal treasures and found some unexpected but amazing things (well to us haha) We found objects that tell tales of Kings and Queens. Join us mudlarking some amazing history!
We also craft some things with the items we found. One of which is the start of a new huge project :)
We have started a patreon page for anyone wishing to support us.
We also have a Ko-fi account, so if you wanted to support us by buying us a metaphorical cup of coffee it would be greatly appreciated xx

the essence of quietude in these frightened times. i find great solace in your work, enough to cause me quote Leonard Cohen: Suzanne takes your hand as she leads you to the river
she is wearing rags and feathers from salvation army counters
and the sun pours down like honey on our Lady of the Harbor
she shows you where to look amid the garbage and the flowers
there are heroes in the seaweed they are children of the morning
they are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever
    while Suzanne holds the mirror......
(i hope i got that right......and thanks. i like judy collins rendition)

I know I'm late to comment on this video, but maybe you could use bottle stoppers as pawns for your chessboard? You could flip them upside down and attach a marble, or a small piece of seaglass of similar color on the tip. Thank you for sharing your adventures! Love your channel ❤

That tiny pointy metal thing you found at 29:54, is a lable fastner for fabric. The lable is tied with a string to the little metal piece, that’s why there’s a hole in it, and then you push it (the metal) through the fabric. I still see them being used today, because I sometimes work with fabric.
Twilfit is still going here in Sweden, cool to hear their origins. It will fit, well of course.
    Love the vid, hugs Madde

"Seeds of the universe ever endeavor to grow
Tiny pieces of everything into the water they go
Everything changes for the strangers on the shore"
By American singer James Taylor, it's the chorus to his song, "Yellow and Rose". I have taken the words literally because they explain, so well, the things we find on the shore. The song is actually about the British convicts who were sent Botany Bay.

on the corset thing. Modern military body armor properly worn, fits like a corset. The chest piece weighs so much that the only way to wear it without being completely miserable is to button it on and have someone else cinch it till it squeezes on your ribs. This takes some of the weight off of your shoulders, which otherwise hurt from having 15+kg of gear hanging off of them. being body armor there is zero stretch, so it's a balancing act between spreading weight, and still being able to breathe.
