भगवान शंकर के 12 ज्योतिर्लिंग में भीमाशंकर का छठा स्थान है। यह ज्योतिर्लिंग महाराष्ट्र के पुणे से लगभग 110 किलोमीटर दूर सह्याद्रि पर्वत पर स्थित है। इस मंदिर में स्थापित शिवलिंग को भगवान के रूप में पूजा जाता है। मंदिर में स्थापित शिवलिंग काफी बड़ा और मोटा है, जिसके कारण इस मंदिर को मोटेश्वर महादेव के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस मंदिर के पास ही भीमा नदी बहती है जो कृष्णा नदी में जाकर मिल जाती है। भीमा नदी का उद्गम भी यही से होता है.
भीमाशंकर पहुँचने के लिए नज़दीक का हवाईअड्डा पुणे है और रेलवे स्टेशन भी पुणे है, सड़क मार्ग से यहाँ आने के लिए कल्याण और पुणे से नियमित बसे चलती है तथा आप टैक्सी करके भी भीमाशंकर पहुँच सकते है.

From Mumbai, there is a trek from Karjat till Bhimashankar Temple which takes around 4-5 hours to reach at the top. It is a medium level trek. So do carry plenty of water and snacks with you. From Pune, there is a government bus from Shivaji Nagar Bus Depot pune till Bhimashankar Bus Top. It takes around 4 hours to reach and it costs approx 185rs per person. Buses starts from 5:30am for every half an hour.
