- Alright... following up on a previous video, I've had nothing but troubles with the Ark Gravity BFS reel. In all fairness to Ark, I may have been the only one. Ark wanted me to pay to ship it back to them to look at. Out of principle, I didn't want to put any more money into this reel. So, decided to try opening the reel up to look at the mechanics. I didn't record the opening of the reel. But, I do share what I think caused the issues and what to look for if you ever experience noise problems with your reel.
I definitely agree with you that arks customer service is pretty bad. My reel was having a similar screeching sound plus a very gritty retrieve. I've still not heard back from them 3 weeks later after filling out the warranty, calling, and emailing. Its a bit comedic tbh lol. On the other hand, Haibo's customer service is excellent.
Yes! Exactly what I experienced with the reel and their service. It was frustrating. You might want to consider checking some of the things I pointed out to get your reel going again
Wanted to stop by and say thanks for the video and solution. Mine started acting up but after taking your advice it returned to being fine. Thanks again!
Awesome! Glad you were able to get it going again! 👍
Yah....the loose screws would shimmy parts out of synchronicity. I am curious of the screws were alway loose or ju see t a matter of regular tightening needed every few runs.
Great video Sean. On the plus side you’re now a reel mechanic😀Love my AA.
Thank you! Not sure I want to disassemble more reels 😂
Hey Sean! Thanks for sharing your story and I think it highlights the “issues” with warranty programs. Ofc not all brands act the same and it’s a shame to hear that this was how you were treated… Hopefully Ark learns from this interaction and improves their customer service experience. Anyhow, glad you were able to figure out the issue and get it fixed! Cheers my friend!
Wait what did you think of the cormorant???
Thank you brother. Yeah, if they want to compete with other businesses in the US, they need to take care of their customers, especially early adopters when issues are reported. Got a vid of the Cormorant coming soon. 😉
@@BayAreaBFS nice! Excited to hear your thoughts on the reel. Still is my favorite reel of 2024 haha. Cheers Sean!
Thanks for sharing. This is how company's loose customers (money and reputation). I have the Arise Air, almost the same reel but different companies. I like mine so far at least. This kind of behaviour makes people loose all confidence in the company. They told you that it was your problem, in dealing with their faulty product. They should be thanking you for pointing out a problem in the manufacturing process. Hate when companies behave like this. I won't be buying anything from ARK that's for sure. People need to know about companies that treat their customers with no respect. There are plenty of good companies that make good baitcasting reels. And respect their customers 👍🐟 Thanks again.
100%. I also have the Haibo Arise Air -- great reel. For a "USA" company, I expected more from Ark. It's really unfortunate. So much potential only to fall flat because of poor service
What oil did you use? I received my reel a week ago, and sounded fine. But today I started hearing that screech you talk about. I really like the real and hope I can fix it.
I used some reel oil that came with another reel. Not sure of the brand. It's been a temporary fix. I think it's the Penn Precision Reel Oil.
@BayAreaBFS Temporary? Did it start doing it again?
Pink line was the answer🤣🤣
😂😂
Ive had similar issues with 13 fishing and daiwa. Because of that at this point i do a full break down, clean, inspect then regrease and oil the whole thing whether it is a new or used reel
To me, these reels should come from the factory that way. That might be too idealistic though. Lucky you have the skills to do the teardown and rebuild. Good to have for future maintenance too
Thanks for posting…do you still use the Haibo Air….I was wanting to buy the Haibo or the Ark. I was leaning to Ark due to being a US company. Haibo is $50 cheaper (as of now) along with an extra spool.
Yep. The Arise Air is part of my standard arsenal with my Aldebaran's and Cormorant
Great video talking about what you did lmfao would've been nice to show someone smh
I hear ya brother. It took some tinkering to figure out how to fix it and didn't record while doing it. It's a good call out tho. 👍
Sounds like slip and stick, like wet rubber.
There were a lot of things going on with it. Dry bearings and imperfect fittings were the main culprit. My reel may have bypassed the QA process
I love this
I have the same problem…. It’s still a virgin and I’ve fished it about 10 hours nothing 😢
We'll get it there brother. 🤞🤞🤞
@@BayAreaBFS yes i did took it out yesterday man I popped the Cherry…. Got on a good wolf pack of bass caught three 3 pounder in about 20 minutes handled very nicely.!
It now ranks in the middle of my huge arsenal of BFS reels! Had it paired with one of my favorite versatile rod the 702L TSURINOYA DRAGON:)
Pls shorten your video. You go in circles to get to the point. Bottom line: your reel and worm gear were not lubricated well. Also, you had to pop a pin in. Should have returned the product from day 1. Sad to hear Ark ‘s Customer service is poor. I own the same bfs reel with no issues but I dont plan on buying and more reels from Ark.
Sorry if you felt it was too long. I didn't return it because they wanted me to pay for the return. Which was one of my gripes
