I just got a righty version of the stonewashed Padre, & I also put these same bearings in. I tightened my lock bar up a smidge as well, & mine dropped shut both before & after I made all those changes, & that's with the pivot screw tightened absolutely as far as it will safely go. Weird, I'm surprised you have such stiff action in this video. Mine still drops fast enough I really have to watch that my thumb doesn't get nicked. I usually just hold it a bit sideways when pushing the lock bar. And my identical Skiffs work absolutely fine in mine. Weird. I want to be clear here though, the factory bearings on this knife are absolutely great & do not need to be changed whatsoever. I'm just a freak, like some of you others haha. One more thing I noticed at the end of the video - I haven't added any threadlocker to my pivot screw & it hasn't budged a bit, & I play with the knife a LOT. What an amazing knife, I'm completely blown away by it! I missed out on the timascus clip & backspacer order, even though I was looking at the page & nearly checked out with the knife & both parts. But I decided to wait & ended up missing out. I did order the black & white G10 front scale though, so I'm excited to see how that feels & how it affects the weight (mine is currently 5.2 oz). I just really, really hope they post extra timascus parts for it again on the site!
Padre is absolutely the best Kunwu. Can’t speak on the lefty, but the regular is money, even the detent pops. Maybe the left variant u got isn’t that good? Mine is also very drop shutty
After decades of using right hand liner locks it'd feel really weird having a left handed lock. I've never owned one. It's like clips. I've always left em set up like they are so lefties setup on that don't really matter to me either. It's nice to see companies offering these options now
Sucks the skiffs didn't work. I had some 18 ball double rows i pulled out of a towser k I don't use anymore and they worked great. It's got that controlled smooth action. You're right about their tolerances. Everything is so precise. It'll be my favorite while we're in the honey moon phase. Cheers brother!
I got one too, of course...lol The detent track needs some break in. Dry off the detent ball just a little bit, put it back together, put your thumb over the detent ball, and work the action with pressure on the ball. Then clean both surfaces, oil, and it is like butter!
I took mine apart to clean it and something is def wrong with the action. It's very gritty and I cleaned the shit out of everything. I gotten it a lot smoother but there is still small amount of that gritty noise. I don't know where that shit is coming from.
So your saying the knife has Peronies disease....personally speaking there is nothing wrong with that awesome knife..send it to me and I can chop it for you into a mini Padre..easy peasy..
Unfortunately, the blade length dictates the handle length, so taking off a half inch ain’t gonna work. The shape is also to accommodate that blade height and belly. It would have to be a pretty different knife to allow a straighter handle. I’m sure you understand design constraints now that Divo has some experience under the belt, though. With the nana, you might like a pinch grip better than thumb on the spine. Built for slicing.
Do u think it needs 3/64 instead of 1/16. Remember how it would fit the 1/16 slot. I don't think Skiff makes a multirow in 3/64 though btw got my 1Sam today.thx
Ordered my padre straight from Kunwu lol, lesson learn never again. I’ve seen so much out of them with this one order that I’ll never order from them again.
@@LeftyEDC well today has been 20 days and it’s still showing on its way to DHL. I sent them an email the 15th day and they replied with my Padre was in the states so I contacted DHL myself and they said idk why they told you that because we can only see what you see lol. They sent me a notification saying my timascus kit shipped as well and they said it didn’t ship was a mistake. Someone had put a comment on a post they made that said you should tie them to a pigeon and let them deliver the products and I replied it would take about the same amount of time and they removed my comment lol. All companies as you know will have some negative feedback somewhere or another and for them to delete my little small comment makes me kinda wonder if any other comments/post have been deleted that I would have liked to have seen. I knew the wait would be lengthy but I only ordered from them because I seen them reply to a comment that blade hq would not have the Padre and I be dang blade hq had them a like a week and half later lol. Somebody shared it and they ask where they seen the ad because they was clearly in contract violation so then blade hq took them down for like an hour and then they were right back up 😂. They just have a shit show going on over there. I really like the looks of the Padre and it’s already paid for so I hope it’s everything everybody says it is. I really want to like it but I’m different than most people I use my stuff and I really hope it holds an edge. I love the looks of the Django but no way I’d ever order from them again I’ll wait till a US retailer has them and I’d like to have the hrc checked before I even buy one at all. They just seem untrustworthy so far. They give me that bad gut feeling.
I trust Kev's reviews, he has ALOT of experience with feeling a banana in his hand 🤣 🤣 🤣 I wanted a Padre but can't since I went with a Voodoo instead. Great review Kev, hurry up with the Mash v3?
Thats what he does 🤣. I’ve gotten 1 semi positive comment out of him in about a year. Watches every video though i think so he’s my biggest fan. We have a weird relationship 🤣

I'm really impressed with Kunwu. This is another solid offering and in Vanax, no less!
By far among the best disassembly/reassembly reviews I’ve seen. Terrific job Kev!
I think the acidwash blade has a factor on the detent being softer. My belt satin one is pretty stout. Mini Padre is a great idea.
Agree 100% about the handle
Gorgeous!
Good stuff as always, Kev!
Padre is absolutely the best Kunwu. Can’t speak on the lefty, but the regular is money, even the detent pops. Maybe the left variant u got isn’t that good?
Mine is also very drop shutty
what size washer bearing did you use for the padre?
I didn’t. It didn’t work
I guess I just have huge hands. The handle doesn’t stick out like that with me like it does for you.
Got mine also today, reminded me on the stitch ergos wise. Sweet knife
After decades of using right hand liner locks it'd feel really weird having a left handed lock. I've never owned one. It's like clips. I've always left em set up like they are so lefties setup on that don't really matter to me either. It's nice to see companies offering these options now

It broke it nicely. I have a very positive overview coming later this week
I took mine apart to clean it and something is def wrong with the action. It's very gritty and I cleaned the shit out of everything. I gotten it a lot smoother but there is still small amount of that gritty noise. I don't know where that shit is coming from.
U try oil on the detent ball?
@@LeftyEDC Oh yea. It’s not that.
@edsaban572 i am having exact same issue. Do you have the dlc blade. ? Did u ever figure out the problem?
Gotta get Sergio on a live or video!
So your saying the knife has Peronies disease....personally speaking there is nothing wrong with that awesome knife..send it to me and I can chop it for you into a mini Padre..easy peasy..
I’ve fidgeted with my stonewashed padre for a week and a half and it’s still not drop shut
Might need some TLC.
Unfortunately, the blade length dictates the handle length, so taking off a half inch ain’t gonna work. The shape is also to accommodate that blade height and belly. Yea but a smaller overall knife aka shrink it down solves all my problems
Do u think it needs 3/64 instead of 1/16. Remember how it would fit the 1/16 slot. I don't think Skiff makes a multirow in 3/64 though btw got my 1Sam today.thx
Ive seen others skiff it. So maybe single row or just not tuning the lockbar would have helped
The Padre looks awesome, I want one. LOL. The problem is that there are way To many (awesome I want one's) out there and I can't buy them all. 😥. Lol.
@paulmills you are so right. Too many awesome knives and not enough money dollars 😢
How many scratches did that thing end up with 😂. Great video Kev!

Very cool
yo necesito
Flame...1:48, she def did not say that :(
The Middle Class’s Evo
Diggin that evo-esque blade, but not feeling the banana handle
I think it resembles a fairchild more than a evo imo def wouldn't call it a copy. I like it alot
Same size skiffs as the Chad??? 👀
Idk don’t have a chad. Probably though
If You shorten the handle you lose an additional gripping method
Dude, that's a BAK= Big @ss Knife
super glue 🤨
I have a whole video explaining my thought process. See my recent community posts i shared the video there again the other day
I like the Padre. Didn’t appreciate the handle comparison to the growler. Don’t like the growler. Didn’t want to see it
Ill try not to show my own knives just for u then. Especially when a drop is coming up. That’s probably good business
Yet another semi-negative review all the while promoting your low end offering. Shabby.
How was it negative? If anything he was giving it praise and the company high praise. You just trolling to troll?
Thats what he does 🤣. I’ve gotten 1 semi positive comment out of him in about a year. Watches every video though i think so he’s my biggest fan. We have a weird relationship 🤣
Evo 2 especially has style this is kinda boring compared to it
