I am 66 today 13th March 2019 and it's only in the past year (from i retired) that I have been watching "Last of the Summer Wine". It is without doubt the most wonderful program I have ever seen on T.V. .I am now in my last of the summer wine years and have learned from Compo and Clegg that there are lots of good things out there for me to do. Thanks Compo, thanks Norman and all the others for bringing so much laughter into my life.
When the last of the summer wine first aired on PBS in the USA, we American's couldn't get enough! I absolutely loved watching this show! Beautiful scenery and clean humour.
I absolutely adore and love Last of the Summer Wine, it is my most favorite BBC comedy show!!! This show allowed me to stay happy, cuz, I suffer from depression. This is the best show EVER!
Saw him in that episode of The Persuaders as a bad guy the other day. Was surprised to see him. Never saw a lot of bbc shows or him in anything other that LOTSW & Wallace & Grommet. Loved his acting & voice. Seeing him in anything brought a smile to my face. R.I.P. Peter
Peter sallis was born the same year as my late maternal grandfather. I loved peter sallis as norman Clegg in the last of the summer wine. May my grandfather and mr sallis both rest in peace.
I'm 57 , I grew up watching LOTSW with my family, I liked then didn't get all the stuff then , but now I really can connect to what they were saying and doing. Not many left now, but you can watch the reruns on GOLD on Freeview. I watch them religiously still.
Absolutely brilliant timeless actor Peter Sallis was always be remembered as Norman Clegg In last of the summer wine only fitting that he is buried next to his mate Bill Owen aka Compo both were absolutely comic legends

I grew up watching him in the role of Wallace, he inspired me to take up science and engineering. When I was younger I had made simple machines and began tinkering with some old toy trains, taking them apart and putting them back together to see if they worked. If it wasn't for him, I don't know where I would be right now. Thanks Peter.
Aw this is brilliant, may he rest in peace!, I visited Holmfirth back in 2000 and paid my respects to Compo, I hope to visit again soon and offer the same to Cleggy!. In tribute to, A matter of loaf and death, I drive an Austin a35. Many thanks. Gérard lacey in Ireland. X.
why so sad? he lived a good long life 96 is pretty good. hopefully it was 96 happy years and he had much to be proud of and satisfied with when all was said and done. RIP Peter Sallis and congratulations on a long life.
It was only a small, supporting role, but I've always enjoyed him as Carter, the man-servant to Sir Wilfred Robarts, played by the inimitable Sir Ralph Richardson, in the 1982 TV adaptation of Agatha Christie's 'Witness For The Prosecution.' It's on TH-cam in its entirety.

He was the only one to feature in all 295 episodes of 'Last Of The Summer Wine' out of all the characters put together.

He also played caretaker Mr Gudgeon in the childrens TV series "The ghosts of Motley Hall"
I can’t believe that Ben Whitehead isn’t Peter Sallis. It’s so amazingly accurate.
