Great video, love my 987. Another job by the looks of it is the roof sides don’t sit under the gutter when the roof is up. Needs 10 mins with needle and knicker elastic and a very satisfying fix.

Great content as always , I have 986 3.2 S with the six speed and changing the clutch pedal assistance spring under the dash makes a big difference for parking and smooth pull aways , if your clutch is heavy at biting point change it as the part is as cheap as chips ( £60 ish from Porsche) no worse to change than your steering wheel adjuster and makes a massive difference to the feel and control of the clutch

Big thanks Richard. I'll see how it is and change it if needed.

Really enjoying this Boxster series. Will you be taking the car to the track this coming season?

Cheers Chris. Yes, desperate to. As soon as the mechanical bits are all sorted.

FYI only - If memory serves, the little red thing in upper right of the box is a handy little plastic fuse puller / installer. If I'm wrong, well maybe it is missing.

Hello! Great video. I have owned 5 Boxters over the years (most bought "for my wife") and I huge fan But, and its a big BUT, I don't think I can buy another one. My last, a beautiful 3.4S, one that I spent about £10k on getting to to as near perfect as I could started to get the dreaded ticking noise. I had been focusing on the IMS issue and totally overlooking bore scoring. The ticking could be the onset of bore scoring which for a Boxster, is probably fatal.
So, can you, or anyone else reading these comments, say something about the bore scoring issue? There is so much online but its mostly doom and gloom. I know that the smaller capacity engines (not the 3.2 or the 3.4's which are more prone to bore scoring) are probably a better bet. With a 911 an engine rebuild cost of £15k might(?) just be worth it but not for a Boxster.
Any ideas which Boxster I should purchase to feed my craving for another Porsche? Thanks
PS: I have also owned a 911 and, to be perfectly honest, I thought the Boxster was the better drivers car........

I have a 2000 986 S 6MT I bought in 2011 and it has been ticking for nearly a decade, unchanged. It sometimes gets quieter after an oil change. It's never gotten worse. I check every pleat in the oil filter every oil change and never found anything except for a couple of small metallic shavings many years ago, perhaps around the time I started noticing the ticking. Otherwise clean except for used oil. I don't believe it's a lifter. I have always driven my Boxster assertively and with spirit and just stay on top of maintenence religiously. Just drive and enjoy.

Yeah a bit. It was amazing but not a terribly practical family car and every journey costs £80 in fuel!

Great cars. But they look like shit from the rear. Sorry.
