Without hook. New order is not new order. Its a weak cover band. Altho cunningham is a good musician. Nobody is hooky. New order without hooky is like watching the jimi hendrix experience. WITHOUT JIMI
I saw peter hook a few months ago. It may seem strange to say but I thought it was too tight and flawless and that took the edge off. I like the fact sometimes Barney's singing is out of tune and the fact they are constantly playing different versions of their songs such as temptation, true faith, 586 and waiting for the sirens call. It just wasn't the same watching hooky
Thanks for posting this all those years ago. I was 21 years old and at this concert: It pissed rain for hours and the minute NO came on stage the clouds literally parted and illuminated the band in this weird beam of light. It was crazy (and yes, I was totally sober). 22 years later its still the best concert I've ever attended.
atmosphere still gives me goose bumps. i think they forgot to play dreams never end and everythings gone green, subculture and thieves like us. that would of been a great transition into the brotherhood stuff. your silent face was a nice touch but man, do they still rock, keep rockin it steady NO.
If you've read Hooky's New Order book you'll enjoy some of the Barney antics here. - The constant wooping and shouting really annoyed Peter, and he thought they ruined the older songs, especially the Joy Division ones. - Reading the lyrics off a teleprompter, at this time Barney was refusing to learn the lyrics. - Asking Hooky to turn the bass down, a constant theme throughout their time as a band.
Oh, god no.. not by far. I have always felt that they have been riding on the Joy Division wave. If you think about it, for every good song they have turned out as New Order there have been 10 mediocre.
Had the privilege to meet the band back in 1993 after winning a contest on the radio. Hung out with Peter Hook, great guy, hope and pray they can work out their differences. It would be a dream come true to see the band reunite.
Ain't EVER gonna happen again, my friend...Barney, Steve & Gillian CANNOT STAND Hooky anymore & don't wanna know about him...& besides, New Order still sound awesome without Hooky (MUCH better than Hooky's PH&TL, IMO), whereas Depeche Mode were NEVER the same after Alan Wilder left, after the SOF&D album & tour that followed - often described as the most decadent tour in rock history...& if you know DM, then you know that the SOF&D was FAR more "rock" than anything they'd released before, or ever have since...it coincided "nicely" with Dave's insane heroin addiction & the US grunge scene of the early-to-mid '90s...
@@Djlullaby22 Well Barney, Gillian & Steve have said a VERY firm NO, & I can't imagine that Tom has taken too kindly to Hooky slagging off his bass-playing ability either...there is much that I love about Hooky & I've enjoyed some communication with him upon Twitter but IMO, he's been quite a childish dick at times, throughout this breakup saga...
***** I saw them in 1998, at the all nighter NYE gig, "Temptation" at Alexandra Palace. Finsbury Park was 2002, as by then they had Phil Cunningham in the line up and were playing songs from the 2001 release Get Ready.
***** We'll have to agree to disagree. Anyone who was there on the day (9th June 2002) will recall that the film above is from that very gig. Support on the day was The Cooper Temple Clause, Air and Echo & The Bunnymen. As mentioned before, The setlist, the line-up, the Dee Dee Ramone reference, the appearance of John Simm during "Digital" (post 24 hour party people) all prove the gig took place in 2002 and not 1998.
NEW ORDER YO SOY DE MEXICO CITY CONOSCO DESDE JOY DIVISION HASTA NEW ORDER Y TAMBIEN BAUHAUSE AND PETER MURPHY PARA MI SON LOS EJEMPLARES DESPUES DEL PUNK Y NO SOY INGLES PERO SI MEXICANO Y AQUI TENEMOS GUSTO POR ESTA MUSIC YEA!!!!!!
I was there...World In Motion (played last) didn’t make the cut of the original release...I remember that song being a bit of a dog’s dinner, with Bernard singing the verse where the chorus ought to be and vice versa, and Hooky frantically pointing at the autocue to try and get him back to the right part of the song.
Hello ! Salut . Allez bises à tous et bien sûr à new ordre Fred .
This is really the best New Order concert on youtube..... early ones are too slow with not enough punch... new ones... no hooky or dawn and too much tech and lights.... I'd trade Hooky and Zee for Johnny Marr any day of the week....
Yep, probably. This is a great performance by all. Stephen Morris is amazing. The Rolands next to him are in awe of this obvious cyborg model. He doesn´t miss a single hit. Crazy stamina and timing. Reminds me of Fyfe Ewing of early Therapy?.
minha banda favorita a como eu queria ir no show dos caras isso sim é uma banda de verdade alto nível, cada um com seu gosto mas para mim não tem igual
Great Consert! Joy Division songs are also sang well. What I like New Order is that they continued after Curtis and made it successfully. Also JD songs too. Excellent Concert.
I'm not a massive fan, though I do like a lot of their stuff from the early eighties. But what a great gig. Great that they started out as they just wanted to be in a band, then struggled through the loss of Curtis to become this good. Sad they can't all get on any more.
5 JD songs in a 16 song set is ridiculous! But they were already past their sell by date when I saw them at Reading in '93 although I have to admit it was maybe the best gig of my life! As contradictory as that sounds I'd waited my entire teenage years to see them (something always came up!) and was 21 by then and gonna enjoy myself whatever! But they played a belter that night!
This is the first... and last New Order live footage I will ever watch on TH-cam. I love them as a band more than anyone could ever know. But the whole rock star gesturing bollocks has left me flat, Some things should just remain in your brain for you to cherish and love as you imagine it... things like this can spoil the myth. I am drunk I should ad.

I don't have many regrets when I look back in life so far, considering how things have turned out so far, but not going to this when I lived just up the road in Harringay Green Lanes at the time is one of them.
Very few bass players are as iconic as Hookie and Dee Dee
Mike Dirnt for sure is in that list as well
Peter Hook is a legend
Agree 100% a one off.
When Barney is on point he is really good… These guys are real legends
One of the greatest bassist ever. Mr. Hook.
Without hook. New order is not new order. Its a weak cover band. Altho cunningham is a good musician. Nobody is hooky. New order without hooky is like watching the jimi hendrix experience. WITHOUT JIMI
Nope they're BOTH integral parts of New Order. But Hook's bass is SIGNATURE to their collective sound. Just as important (if not more) as Sumner.
Ishhod Collins New Order without Peter Hook is MEH. :(
I saw peter hook a few months ago. It may seem strange to say but I thought it was too tight and flawless and that took the edge off. Someone Else you must have the video off
I met my wife on the same day as this concert.

is rare when a band emerges from another band ( Joy Division) and stands on its own with as much dignity
only other one i can think of is foo fighters and nirvana. that’s about it.
Inesquecível muito bom música para vida toda
@@shaungreer3350 Foo Fighters didn’t emerge from Nirvana the way JD&NO did. Dave Grohl went and did his separate thing away
@@kamster518 that's true.Even still the stories are kind of similar

Man, why shouting in Atmosphere?!
Also in the book; Hook was "pissed as a fart" at this gig.
@@Spraxt drunk pissed or just pissed pissed?
When i saw PH and the Light, Hooky was doing a ridiculous amount of wooping and "yeah!"s so he can't really talk...
Drunk
Best live performance ever
WOW WHAT A GIG, WHAT A BAND, FANTASTIC MUSIC!!!!!! NEW ORDER FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
backing vocal by that beautifull lady is just AWSOME !!!
Indeed
Her name is Dawn Zee :)
Beautiful lady,beautiful voice.😍😍👍
This is the best live performance of Crystal that I have heard, and what a way to get things started
This and Jools Holland in 2001
Ditto,absolutely amazing.😍😍😍
Steve playing the drums like he's the chosen one to tell hooky he's sacked
is this the greatest rock n' roll band in the world or what !! ?
Oh, god no.. not by far. I have always felt that they have been riding on the Joy Division wave. If you think about it, for every good song they have turned out as New Order there have been 10 mediocre.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of THE greatest but not THE greatest. Too many amazing bands out there to put such a tag on them as "the greatest"
In the Technique days absolutely the greatest band ever now they’re a poor parody
yes
Had the privilege to meet the band back in 1993 after winning a contest on the radio. Hung out with Peter Hook, great guy, hope and pray they can work out their differences. It would be a dream come true to see the band reunite.
Life is short. We need the full band to reunite. Now.
Ask that to Sumner, Hooky never used the words "no" or "impossible" referring to a reunion.

Such a shame ......like Liam and Noel of Oasis ....altho coz they bro's that 'may' happen soon !
Still keep coming back to this. Hooky kicking the shit out of that bass. Unreal. 🙌
Some of the best live vocals from Bernard.
I was at this gig, awesome day. Back in 2002.
It was June or July 2002, it was the tour to promote the 'get ready' album from 2001. The setlist speaks for itself Dave.
***** I was there too, 2002, following the "Get Ready" album. It pissed down with rain until New Order came on. 9th June.
Thomas Robinson The reference on Hooky's Bass amp is a tribute to Ramones basist Dee Dee who died earlier that week.
***** I saw them in 1998, at the all nighter NYE gig, "Temptation" at Alexandra Palace. Finsbury Park was 2002, as by then they had Phil Cunningham in the line up and were playing songs from the 2001 release Get Ready.

YOU SAID IT RIGHT THERE !
He fucked up and returned to the lobby

Such an underrated song

Amo esta etapa donde resalta mas el rock, ¡Larga Vida A New Order!
In my estimation... Joy Division/New Order the most influential band of the modern time...
Kraftwerk mate.
