The thing about Peggy with a SWORD and SHIELD that many are over looking are the agencies she helped build. Sword of course was something Monica's mother did, but SWORD is still an off shoot of something Peggy had a hand in. I thought that was a nice subtle nod to things in the prime timeline =)

The "What If..." comic book debuted in 1977. I was 12 and I loved the concept. The Watcher, who's name is Uatu, watches our sector of space. His race is as old as the universe and all they do is watch events that affect the universe/multi-verse. Uatu has been known to break the rules...occasionally.
My favourite part was how much Peggy enjoyed herself as she discovered the extent of her powers. And it was doubly fun watching you all enjoy her enjoying herself. I also love that (like in the original story) she didn't need to see Steve all muscled up to see what was great about him.
I am surprised how much I loved this. This also represents several and endless possibilites within the MCU with the multiverse. Glad to see your reactions, as usual!
Remember that in the Cap movie, we build up the connection between Peggy and Steve a lot before he gets into the chamber to get the serum. In the movie we are invested in their connection at that point, so in an episode so short they had to build that connection more after the fact for the viewer, and the best way to keep Steve in there is to find a way to have him along side Peggy to build that connection.
Unless they found a way to safely freeze him, it's unlikely. Steve had so many serious health problems that it's unlikely he'd survive past the 1980s. He probably wouldn't survive the stasis that Bucky was put into by Hydra, either.

Um. Peggy is working out some...frustration. And, I gotta say, I like thick Peggy. Overall this was very much in line with the "What If ?" Comics, where they truncate a long story arc into one comic. I grew up a Black comic book nerd in the 80's so I knew very much what to expect 🙂

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this because I'm not a live action crossing over into cartoon person (so like if a series starts off live action like Star Wars. I don't care for any cartoon versions of it, like The Clone Wars animated series). But this was AWESOME! I'm so excited about this! And the fact they brought back the actors who played the live action characters was a plus for me. I'll probably cry on Chadwick's episode as well. It did bug me that they didn't let Peggy do some things by herself like Captain America did. Like right off Steve was her side kick. I get that it was so we could keep track of Steve during the story, but it was still a bit triggering. What I'm interested in though is what influence and effect a super powered female role model would have had on society at that time. I know this is outside of the MCU scope so we'll never get a store on this, but just think about it for a moment: what real-world effect would representation like Captain Carter have had on the womanist/femenist movement? Would that have had such a drastic positive effect on more young women and girls, so much so that we would have won the right to vote sooner? Would we be closer to equality now? Sorry I just went into a geek spiral 🤭 😆. Ummm this show is cool lol.

No Vormir for The Red Skull! I'm guessing Stark, Bucky and Steve started S.H.I.E.L.D. Captain Carter was totally BADAZZ and the animation rocks. Can't wait till we see her again. If the other stories are half as good as this, this series is going to be awesome! Even with the changes it was true to the story we knew.
On the nitpicking. Captain Carter did a better job and got the tesseract early, with which Stark was able to power the suit. In The Captain America movie, the allied forces NEVER had the tesseract until after it was retrieved in the ice. Even in the comic books, things changed in What If stories. Giant man became the strongest avenger while in an Iron man suit Wolverine killed the Hulk, which lead to the destruction of earth. What if stories always take a while turn. They don't just switch characters.

You're underestimating Steve at around 7:30 - he threw a man into a propeller, remember? He killed a LOT of people in WWII. On the other hand, Carter was in far better starting shape than Steve, and was already a highly trained agent and spy, so when the serum multiplied what she was, she got EVEN better. :D

In the comic book canon the beings that became The Watchers did once interfere with a planet/society that was in need of help the people were unprepared for the advanced technology and wiped themselves out. The Watchers then vowed to observe but never again to interfere with a society's development.
I believe that tge reason they gave steve the suit is because they didnt want to go the route a lot of female empowerment shows go and make all the males either asshokes or useless idiots. They eanted Steve to still have a purpose plus them having the tesseract earlier made it possible for them to create such a destructive machine so that he and Peggy could fight side by side.
I actually liked it, I liked the fact that peggy was shown a stronger captain America than steve which makes sense, i would have really liked if this went on for like another 10 mins cause I felt it was a bit short and I think it would have been a better if Steve was shown dead or atleast as a winter soldier rather than just shown lying around like nothing but nonetheless I loved it as Steve was shown as iron Man, so yeah overall 7.5 from me and considering I gave Endgame 9.5, I'd say it's pretty good

Steve wasn't a real soldier, remember? He lied to join the military. Instead of getting thrown in jail for lying, Dr. Abraham Erskine gave Steve a chance. Steve was sent to boot camp and was at the bottom of his class. He didn't have what the military would have said was "the right stuff," but Dr. Erskine didn't care about the military's benchmarks as he had a set of moral and ethical benchmarks of his own and Steve surpassed them in spades. He told Steve the night before testing that he didn't care about the military benchmarks because his serum would give him those qualities, but the one thing it would give him was a clear mind or a good heart. Had the military treated women fairly, Peggy likely would have been Dr. Erskine's pick, but as she was a women, he never thought to check her. Heck, had African American soldiers been considered, Isaiah Bradly might have been an option too, though he might have been too young, but that's beside the point. The Allied Forces, like the Nazi's, wanted men on the battlefield. Particularly, white men, but I digress. Steve wasn't a great fighter. He lost every fight he got himself into. Bucky was the one who always came to his aid. That all changed after he got the Super Soldier Serum. While the serum helped him overpower his enemies and survive their attacks, it could not teach him how to fight. Steve was so bad at fighting that Black Widow point this out during their first meeting. She got him up to speed on combat skills and the next time we saw him in the field he was with Black Widow in Winter Soldier, fighting more confidently and much, much better. Peggy already knew how to fight and that's the difference, I think. The Super Soldier Serum enhances what's already there =) If you're already a bad ass, you're transformed into a Super Soldier Bad Ass, lol. Regarding Steve screaming and Peggy not screaming, that might have to do with Steve being a sickly malnourished man. He group up in poverty and that played a role in his repeated failed physicals. Peggy, being a special operations operative, would have undergone training to deal with interrogations and pain, so one would hope that she would do better than Steve did for sure. Still, Peggy was a bad ass pre Super Soldier Serum, so there's that issue too =P 16:13 valid nitpick, but I think the reason why Steve was there as an Iron Man was because his frail body couldn't have helped in any other way. Peggy did help Steve in the First Avenger her presence in that film is why many of us liked her so much. She didn't have a suit, sure, but she didn't need one back then, Steve, however, did. More importantly, I believe all the What if...? stories connect. Peggy's butterfly affecting is still rippling through time. If Peggy's the First Avenger in this reality, she likely changed the second, third, next and so on. The Arc reactor was Howard's idea. He lacked the technology to make it a reality, and that's something Tony did since he made it during his time. The Tesseract, allowed Howard to make his dreams come true =) And I think that's why we got the Hydra Stomper in this episode. Peggy accelerated what Howard was able to do with limit technology because she secured the Tesseract back in WWII and the US had control of it back then, instead of much later like in the stories we know. Rumor has it that T'Challa's up next and it looks like the difference between T'Challa and Peter Quill is there character. Peter was Selfish, T'Challa is selfless and the team he forms will look quite different looking at the commercials. I cannot wait!
Girlfriends, I'm PREEMPTIVELY crying over the Chadwick episode (pretty sure that's next on deck). Great start based on a concept I always LOVED in the comics. I had the whole original run.

In The Captain America movie, the allied forces NEVER had the tesseract until after it was retrieved in the ice. Even in the comic books, things changed in What If stories. Giant man became the strongest avenger while in an Iron man suit Wolverine killed the Hulk, which lead to the destruction of earth. What if stories always take a while turn. They don't just switch characters.

You're underestimating Steve at around 7:30 - he threw a man into a propeller, remember? He killed a LOT of people in WWII. On the other hand, Carter was in far better starting shape than Steve, and was already a highly trained agent and spy, so when the serum multiplied what she was, she got EVEN better. :D

In the comic book canon the beings that became The Watchers did once interfere with a planet/society that was in need of help the people were unprepared for the advanced technology and wiped themselves out. The Watchers then vowed to observe but never again to interfere with a society's development.

I believe that tge reason they gave steve the suit is because they didnt want to go the route a lot of female empowerment shows go and make all the males either asshokes or useless idiots. They eanted Steve to still have a purpose plus them having the tesseract earlier made it possible for them to create such a destructive machine so that he and Peggy could fight side by side.
I actually liked it, I liked the fact that peggy was shown a stronger captain America than steve which makes sense, i would have really liked if this went on for like another 10 mins cause I felt it was a bit short and I think it would have been a better if Steve was shown dead or atleast as a winter soldier rather than just shown lying around like nothing but nonetheless I loved it as Steve was shown as iron Man, so yeah overall 7.5 from me and considering I gave Endgame 9.5, I'd say it's pretty good

Peggy is better than Steve was when he got the serum, but she's supposed to be. Peggy Carter was a special operation soldier, the allied forces UK liaison. Steve wasn't a real soldier, remember? He lied to join the military. Instead of getting thrown in jail for lying, Dr. Abraham Erskine gave Steve a chance. Steve was sent to boot camp and was at the bottom of his class. He didn't have what the military would have said was "the right stuff," but Dr. Erskine didn't care about the military's benchmarks as he had a set of moral and ethical benchmarks of his own and Steve surpassed them in spades. He told Steve the night before testing that he didn't care about the military benchmarks because his serum would give him those qualities, but the one thing it would give him was a clear mind or a good heart.
Had the military treated women fairly, Peggy likely would have been Dr. Erskine's pick, but as she was a women, he never thought to check her. Heck, had African American soldiers been considered, Isaiah Bradly might have been an option too, though he might have been too young, but that's beside the point. The Allied Forces, like the Nazi's, wanted men on the battlefield. Particularly, white men, but I digress.
Steve wasn't a great fighter. He lost every fight he got himself into. Bucky was the one who always came to his aid. That all changed after he got the Super Soldier Serum. While the serum helped him overpower his enemies and survive their attacks, it could not teach him how to fight. Steve was so bad at fighting that Black Widow point this out during their first meeting. She got him up to speed on combat skills and the next time we saw him in the field he was with Black Widow in Winter Soldier, fighting more confidently and much, much better.
Peggy already knew how to fight and that's the difference, I think. The Super Soldier Serum enhances what's already there =) If you're already a bad ass, you're transformed into a Super Soldier Bad Ass, lol.
Regarding Steve screaming and Peggy not screaming, that might have to do with Steve being a sickly malnourished man. He group up in poverty and that played a role in his repeated failed physicals. Peggy, being a special operations operative, would have undergone training to deal with interrogations and pain, so one would hope that she would do better than Steve did for sure. Still, Peggy was a bad ass pre Super Soldier Serum, so there's that issue too =P
16:13 valid nitpick, but I think the reason why Steve was there as an Iron Man was because his frail body couldn't have helped in any other way. Peggy did help Steve in the First Avenger her presence in that film is why many of us liked her so much. She didn't have a suit, sure, but she didn't need one back then, Steve, however, did. More importantly, I believe all the What if...? stories connect. Peggy's butterfly affecting is still rippling through time. If Peggy's the First Avenger in this reality, she likely changed the second, third, next and so on.
The Arc reactor was Howard's idea. He lacked the technology to make it a reality, and that's something Tony did since he made it during his time. The Tesseract, allowed Howard to make his dreams come true =) And I think that's why we got the Hydra Stomper in this episode. Peggy accelerated what Howard was able to do with limit technology because she secured the Tesseract back in WWII and the US had control of it back then, instead of much later like in the stories we know.
Rumor has it that T'Challa's up next and it looks like the difference between T'Challa and Peter Quill is there character. Peter was Selfish, T'Challa is selfless and the team he forms will look quite different looking at the commercials. I cannot wait!
