My favorite song off of my favorite album of theirs. I love how they're experimenting so much on this record. I hope they'll stay this original for a while longer. If you want to check out another band that plays kinda weird and experimental rock/metal, go listen to Pregnant Whale Pain. One of the best newer bands out there, incredible singer, top notch songwriting. Can't think of another band that's so promising, other than The Mire probably.
+Ross Hart Totally agree, I love this album even more than Soung Awake. Also huge props for being into pregnant whale pain, great to see them starting to get the attention they deserve. They should open for Karnivool man, that would be a hell of a tour.
Listen to Cog! The New Normal is a good place to start. They are peers of Karnivool who are massive fans of Cog, they were the quintessential Aussie prog/alt metal band and phenomenon that not nearly enough people overseas know about.

That fuzzy electronic bass intro sounded fucking huge live. Smashes your jaw firmly in to the ground just in time for the guitar to slash it clean off like a giant razor.
some people say Karnivool is changing from their old styles like those in Themata and Sound Awake, well I think they're still awesome and their music is still meaningful in Asymmetry (read: eloquently poetic).
I freaking knew they knew. Nachash is the noun for 'serpent' in Genesis. As a verb? It means 'to hiss, murmur, whisper a spell'. Fungus is the animal tree: symbiotic or parasitic, medicine or poison, harmonic or dissonant, good or evil. Nachash of Nachash.
I'm a huge fan of Sound Awake. Not only the story telling but their instrumentals off that album. I never really got into this one but I'm doing a full listen through this album right now. Not a fan of this one in particular but we're only two in.
No post online anywhere, but I have studied hard and still fail to pick up on 2 full/part lines and one other word. Apart from that, I have the song down I think it will come to me one day, or not
And "shining" on other ancient languages. Are they (Kenny, Karnivool) alluding to the ambiguity of interpretations of the primordial biblical *Serpent*, as in Lucifer (still God's angel of *"light"*), revealing the "apple" to humans...

Gosh, I really love this. Nobody around me seems to even be aware of this band. Treating it like my own personal hideout from basic radio.
Thats good. Bands like this shouldn’t be in the mainstream. Not that they don’t deserve more recognition, but that is what makes them special.
@@stevenstewart8275 totally agree with you. That said, I’m so hyped for whenever they make a new album. Hope it comes soon.
@@OccumsChainsaw They're mainstream in Australia. Hardly a hidden gem.

Black Peaks rip pretty good too. Mastodon meets Post Hardcore

Listening to this 4 years on, assuming you haven't listened to this track or album in a while, is this track doing anything for you now?
Change is one of Karnivool's favorite ideas. Have you heard the song "Change"?
Deadman followed by Change is something completely beyond natural.
+Dave Robinson
From A to Z change is still my fav. all time song.
Anyone know what vocal effect Ian Kenny is using in those first lyrics?
Stockman's bass tho!
Extremely catchy!

This is weird... "Nachash" means snake in my language...
And "shining" on other ancient languages.
Are they (Kenny, Karnivool) alluding to the ambiguity of interpretations of the primordial biblical *Serpent*, as in Lucifer (still God's angel of *"light"*), revealing the "apple" to humans...
פירגנו עם השם :)
Well tbh it wasn't an apple, no kind of fruit was stated in the Bible...just a fruit, it could be anything.
It means "sweetcorn" in mine, but feminized, and with a negative connotation
Its kind of upsetting that no one has mentioned the knocking sound purely in your left ear
Scares me so bad
Chevelle and Masarati had a beautiful baby.

Mars Volta not The Mars Volta
