Gosh, I really love this. Nobody around me seems to even be aware of this band. Treating it like my own personal hideout from basic radio.

Thats good. Bands like this shouldn’t be in the mainstream. Not that they don’t deserve more recognition, but that is what makes them special.

    "Feeling no aches
Your colors all fade to gray.
Here in the light of my darkest day. Silent.
I settle my thoughts so maybe
I can relax into my sigh.
    My mind's always window shopping,
but I can't afford the payment.
I feel like I've wasted my last chance
    to try"
    Hell I love that part!

    Subtle wave's in motion
    Shaping spirals upon the ground
    Where eyes are drawn
    A circular door forms
Here we go our minds recoil
Out of control in this spinning wheel
We're starting to face what we've feared and what we can't ignore
    It's starting to swell
    This is bigger than you
Who thought it could be something beautiful
It's beginning to feel like we're part of something real
    Red eyes shift
To signal the sun raise its
Phoenix call to fracture my sleep
    And now the shaking sky
    Means the show's just starting
And we'll awake to carry the weight
    Of the promises
    I feel it taking over
And I feel it taking over
    I'm feeling opaque as
My colours all fade to grey
Here in the light of my darkest day
    It's silent
I center my thoughts so maybe
I can relax into to my sigh
    My mind's always window shopping
But I can't afford the payment
I feel like I've wasted my last chance to try
Wait, I'm here in this moment
    A pivotal moment
    It's taking me over
    It's starting to swell
    This is bigger than you
Who thought it could be something beautiful
It's beginning to feel like we're part of something real

My favorite song off of my favorite album of theirs. I love how they're experimenting so much on this record. I hope they'll stay this original for a while longer. If you want to check out another band that plays kinda weird and experimental rock/metal, go listen to Pregnant Whale Pain. One of the best newer bands out there, incredible singer, top notch songwriting. Can't think of another band that's so promising, other than The Mire probably.

+Ross Hart Totally agree, I love this album even more than Soung Awake. Also huge props for being into pregnant whale pain, great to see them starting to get the attention they deserve. They should open for Karnivool man, that would be a hell of a tour.

Listen to Cog! The New Normal is a good place to start. They are peers of Karnivool who are massive fans of Cog, they were the quintessential Aussie prog/alt metal band and phenomenon that not nearly enough people overseas know about.

    Subtle a waves in motion.
Shape is borrows and alder ground.
    Where our lives are gold.
    Stuck in the door.
Here we go. Our minds recoil.
Out of control, in this spinning wheel.
Starting to face what we feed and what we can't ignore.
    Starting to swell.
    This is bigger than you.
I thought it could be something beautiful.
It's beginning to feel like we're part of something big.
When I change I signal that some days it's feeling cold.
    Fractured my sleep.
Now this shaking sky means the shows have started.
And we await to carry away all the promises.
I feel it, take it and you're open
And I feel it taking you over.
    I'm feeling you'll make it.
Your colors all fade to gray.
Here in the light of my darkest day.
    Silent.

That fuzzy electronic bass intro sounded fucking huge live. Smashes your jaw firmly in to the ground just in time for the guitar to slash it clean off like a giant razor.

I freaking knew they knew. Nachash is the noun for 'serpent' in Genesis. As a verb? It means 'to hiss, murmur, whisper a spell'.
Fungus is the animal tree: symbiotic or parasitic, medicine or poison, harmonic or dissonant, good or evil. Nachash of Nachash.

And "shining" on other ancient languages.
Are they (Kenny, Karnivool) alluding to the ambiguity of interpretations of the primordial biblical *Serpent*, as in Lucifer (still God's angel of *"light"*), revealing the "apple" to humans...
