Very nice video Clara and very helpful! Thank you for posting. I have already ordered them! I bought the Majority Bard on impulse some months back and loved that internet radio, so was interested in your feedback which confirmed the Majority brand and my purchase choice.

I really like their kit and we've got to support what British brands we have!

I never had speakers before beside mono Bluetooth ones and a USB one that I originally bought for my previous laptop that had crickets for speakers. Now I use it with my pc because the sound is great, but the cable between speakers is super short. Even the USB/jack cable too.
It IS significant in some cases.
    Nice video!

Just wondering what the difference is between the D40 and the D40X? Is it worth paying the extra for the D40X?

I cover this is the video, it’s the gold Kevlar cones

@CandidClara Thanks for the reply. I meant in terms of quality. Is the difference noticeable to the sound/output or is it just cosmetic?

I’m afraid I can’t give you an accurate answer because I haven’t heard the two side by side

      70watts rather than 60 for the d40

That fixed length cable between the 2 speakers is a deal breaker. They should utilise binding posts so that any lebgth of speaker wire can be used.

      Yup, I agree!

Just came across this review because I've seen these speakers online for about £60 right now and thought they'd be ideal for my kitchen.......Apart from, yep that fixed speaker connection cable is just TOO short.
Then I thought about it. I couldn't tell from the video (not your fault) but If that's a standard RCA connector into the master speaker an extension cable would cost as little as £2.

I just bought these speakers, I've connected them to my PC via optical/SPDIF.
When I turn them on the voice says 'bluetooth.'
Then a blue light starts flashing.
They don't connect to optical, and the cabel is put in very well, I've checked.
I push the mode change button, nothing happens.
I keep it pushed for a while, still nothing, it remains on bluetooth.
Turning it off and on doesn't work either.
(Putting in a USB does switch it to USB mode, but that's not what I bought it for).

One suggestion (and I apologise if this is obvious) are you aware that optical cables have a little protective plastic cover on the end that needs removing, that would explain why the speakers aren’t seeing the optical cable or switching to it. Failing that contact the manufacturers for support. Let me know if the tip with the cable works though!

@@CandidClara I did remove the plastic cover.
Can't tell if it is the cable or the speaker, and I have nothing else that connects to optical.
Think I might just return them and ask for refund,
especially since I also don't really like that the settings reset.
For me it was between these and the Edifier MR4, guess I might try these.
      (Which are RCA, I know).
So,I was aware, but thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

@@CandidClara Just went into settings and there was something that either wasn't there before, or that I didn't notice.
But optical is working for the D40X' now.
Still, not sure I keep them, the sound isn't bad, though not any better than my Creative T20's I have on my old puter.
Dealbreakers for the most part are the settings reseting and the cable between the speakers is a bit short.
Also I'm not a fan of where the headphone socket is placed.
Nice sounding speakers, but they do have a few cons.

And now all of a sudden (after puter has been on standby, and speakers off), they no longer connect to optical.
And the settings for audio are still the same on my PC, so that can't be it.
I'm going bonkers with these speakers !

Good quality review but not much mention on sound quality or how it works with TV and movies
