I swear I could watch your videos all day. You’ve helped me bring back both of my ambassadeurs to life. Thank you for the education!

I have one abu ambassadeur that use fiber drag washer. I cleaned the drag washer from grease. Then i polish the metal pressure plates including the bottom of main gear that touch drag washer until it shines using dremmel and fabulustre rouge. Then i put all together back without putting grease on drag washer. I am very sure it gave more drag power then before. Polishing metal surface actually will make more contact surface to fiber washer since it surface more smooth unlike carbon fiber drag washer. BUT DO NOT put any grease.

To each his own. I also have been known to polish all contact points, make my own carbon fiber drag discs etc. Only diff is I always apply a good drag grease. It simply enhances the drags smoothness and eliminates all jerkiness. Loss of drag force is minimal IMO

Your first foot number is what is known as the second type lot number. It was used thru late ‘72. The 09 designates the month it was made. The 72 designates the year. The 00 designates it was a first design with zero revisions. So it was made Sept of ‘72. Your second foot number is known as the 3rd type lot number. The 3rd type was used from late’72 into the ‘80’s. It simply list year first followed by month. The last two 0’s again show first design with no revisions. So it was a first design made Dec of ‘72. Hope this helps

I watched out of interest as I have 4 Ambassadeur 3000C reels. My kayak went over at the shoreline and 2 reels got a good dunking plus sand in them so had to be cleaned. I just finished today going through all 4 reels. The bit that I find interesting is the drag grease on the drag washers. I meticulously make mine dry and clean, 3 in each reel, and always do that. Do the drag washers in the 3000C have to have drag grease on them as well?

The grease allows the drag washers to slip smoothly when they need to without binding. Really improves the smoothness of the drag. Just a thin film on both sides of the washer itself. Don’t worry about losing drag strength. It simply makes it silky. The grease is not mandatory but I highly recommend it. P.s...use a specified drag grease such as Cal’s drag grease (it’s cheap and good) as I’ve found other types can cause the washers themselves to break down.

Hello, can you tell me the length of the centrifugal breaks, I have to cut a set from a WD-40 plastic stick, thank you.

The length of the factory supplied block was 1/8 of an inch. Slightly over or under this length will be just fine.

@@vintagerecordambassadeur4098 Yes, thank you, I went ahead and just judged them by sight to the length of the bar and the metallic plate below them, and they work worked perfectly, although I did have to bore out the stick a little bit with a small drill bit so they would slide freely. Thank you.
