I dont know am I right but, I think even the most popular composers in past time could not imagine this type of genre with those with only meaningles unique or odd seperated sounds. In fact, with our present composers of these type of genres now making a really good job concatenating it each other and produce a music that does not bite our ear. I believe that overall, you cannot really say one is better than the other since they differ so greatly in time and culture. You can say for example that classical music tends to be more harmonically complex, but that does not, for me atleast, inherently equate to being "better music". That is ultimately for you to decide. I for one, as much as I love classical music, would not be able to choose one over the other. I'd rather just listen to both on different times, for different reasons. As time passes, I have been giving more attention towards the ability to appreciate, rather than the characteristic of unique or sophisticated taste. We all start with different tastes, but later learn how to better look for different things in different spaces. I think that you have the right idea towards music. But hey, thats only me.
