What makes this case so sad is the way the police treated the best and nicest golfer in the world. Look at the police report and what was happening in espn video, we can see whether or not this golfer committed any of the 4 offenses.. Louisville police over reacted and should drop these charges for the integrity of this police department . Let show the world that Louisville police is fair to a good American citizen and the number one golfer. Thank you

Either he heard someone on the car and freaked out thinking he was getting attacked, or he didn’t hear anything prior to stopping which is also plausible since it was dark and raining out. Either way there’s no chance he knowingly dragged an officer. Use your head.

From the reporter that was the prime witness and the police report. You sound like a lawyer making wild and logically absurd potential defence claims to raise reasonable doubt. Personally I find the Scheffler as great guy a victim narrative completely bizarre, although unsurprising given the financial interests.
The man clearly was reckless and assaulted a police officer. The two ESPN reporters that were there clearly articulated the facts. He drop up on the median to try and jump the line. When told by officers to stop he did not, even after being shouted down by officers. After an office managed to latch himself to the side of the vehicle, he again attempted to drive away dragging the officer 20 yards. He is incredibly lucky the officer didn’t slip under the vehicle leading to much worse than second degree assault charges.
Anyone who said this was no big deal and not blameworthy because he is a great guy is off their nut.
Clearly he compounded this by not taking accountability and claiming he followed all directions of the officers. He has made two claims, ridiculous as they are to attempt to deny culpability. That he didn’t know the individual he nearly killed was a police officer and he followed the directions of the police.
The fist claim that he didn’t know a uniformed office was police needs know further explanation as to its absurdity. Even if he was so cognitively impaired, recklessly dragging any individual in such a manner is blameworthy.
The second claim that he was just following directions of a police officer is equally absurd. The claim is extremely unlikely based on the fact that the audio captured on the scene provides evidence that the only thing he said to avoid arrest was the claim that he didn’t know he was a police officer. Obviously if it were true that a police officer told him to drive over the median, he would have led with that. But the bigger point is even if it were true, it wouldn’t excuse liability for anything that followed. Just because one officer gives you one direction, that doesn’t give you the right to ignore all subsequent officers and directions, leading to the dangerous assault on another police officer.
