    Here again!
    Bought one... Two months ago.
    Last bike was a R1200RT. I've 1,71m. Like to go fast, mainly in mountain roads. And use it to commute.
    First impressions:
    Fast... Not that initial punch, but it never give up delivering an huge amount of power. With a inebriating exhaust sound. Also ease to use in European city traffic. With a good amplitude of revs in first gears. Feels nimble.
    It's high but with a narrow seat, I can stop without trouble with one foot.
    Very balanced. Easy to move in low speed. And at high speed is a pleasure. Feels very secure and natural. The power never ends. And in 4 gear it's absolutely inebriating... Wonderful braking and the quickshifter, after a learning curve, it's very smooth.
    Good wind protection. Even for legs. The handlebar is a little to the forward side. Hard seat. With a strange format that could be not ok for all buts. And for me a little bit to far from handlebar. A raiser would help. I hope. 6,7l/100km. Around 30ºC you, for sure, will fell the heat on your legs... No problem until 26ºC. At night it has a huge high beam.
    The design and colours aren't their strongest points, but you will get used to it and, actually, start to like it. In motion, and from the rear, it looks very cool with panniers.
    Compared to Multistrada it feels more nimble and sportive probably due to 17 inches wheel's. Also prefer de way XR delivers the power in firsts gears cause it allows a relaxed conduction and filtering in city and surroundings.
    With the BMW packs it turns to be an expensive bike. And still do maintenance every 10000km. Multistrada is cheaper and have a better maintenance intervals.
    Overall it can be a smooth bike or a superbike for touring... Which is great.
    Hope this helps

      Dude!! Well said! You should your own videos! Your consensus was well said, honest, and to the point. It couldn't agree with you more, the XR is near to o
      Perfection from the factory. With a few tweaks, it could be a bike for life. Thank soi so much for your detailed comment, the view, and your time. Cheers!

    Was great to hear and see a non-press and far more real world first ride and opinion. I’m looking at my first BMW after about 7 Triumphs in a row. Going to be a very hard choice between the XR and the 1250GS. Riding a 2020 XR this weekend. Can’t wait!

    Anthony thanks for all your reviews. Different approaches but very good real world insights.
    Allow me to ask:
    About filtering, mainly in city, what's your opinion comparing with GS? Also the fairing protection in highway and all the ergonomics.
    Did you feel the heat of the motor as much as in the old model.
    Thanks and keep up with the good work

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm much more comfortable on my GS at filtering, but I can imagine with some more seat time on the XR, it would be easier than the GS. My manager took it home for a night and came in the next morning sharing the same sentiment, the XR feels like a big bike but really isn't once your riding it. It feels like a tall RR. The new XR had great ergonomics tho I did mention I would like some lower footpegs if I decided to tour with it. There was zero heat issues but I will ride it again in the summertime to confirm. Thank you for the feedback Alberto and thank you for watching.

    Hi, yours was one of the best xr reviews, however it seems that you did not feel the vibration @ 4krpm. I had both models of s1000xr gen1 and now gen 2. After nearly 150km of riding yesterday I felt my hand buzzing did you feel that after you day 1 or the 2nd day?
    What km had the bike when tested?
    I noticed that you drove it in the range I felt the buzzing.
    Thanks from malta :)

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't notice any buzzing to be honest. Even in the first gen bike I felt it was very rpm dependant and adjusted accordingly. If it buzz's, adjust the rpm/gear.

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there Del, thanks for the comment! Stock wind protection on the new XR I would say is above adequate in my opinion. I'm very picky when it comes to wind protection as I like to go for long rides, and the XR never made me feel like there wasn't enough.

    Glad to see 2020 XR videos in the US finally and local! What made you get the GS over the XR? Did you try the softer suspension settings in city?

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I rode the XR in road mode for the suspension while in the city then tried the firmer dynamic setting when on the highway. The road mode is definitely playable enough for the day to day and it helps that the XR has a good amount of suspension travel for the city streets. The GS is a bit better suited fuel wise for long road trips which I like to do, especially if there is an offroad component. Great question 👍🏽

    • @tab6095
      @tab6095 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point with range limit. You ever feel like the GS lacks power and would want more? That’s the only reason XR sits above GS on my list.

    • @supersportsanthony
      @supersportsanthony  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the previous generation 1200 GS's yes. But my 1250 has more than enough grunt, and alot of versatility. The XR has tons of power, but I'd rather ad a R to my garage for that need.

    Im really curious about the seat comfort, at the fair i sat on the bike and seat felt a bit stiff. Would like to hear if it is ok for 1-2 hour ride.
    And about the footpegs location, would like to know how tall are you.

      this is what i wonder..... I am 176 as well and I sat on it and felt sort of insecure sitting on it and try moving it backwards or waiting on a traffic light. Maybe it was only my impression. On the other hand the 900xr felt so much more comfortable for my height....
