The fact that Happy stayed in the game for so long with 1 base against 2, while also having lost heroes in the mid game shows just how good he is.

I also think some people overestimate how good expansions are in WC3, probably because of how big of an advantage they are in SC2.

In most Real Time Strategy games (RTS), having 2 bases vs 1 base means you have double income.
In WC3, when you have 2 bases, you will very probably have to go above 50 population.
There is an upkeep mechanic, so when players have more than 50 population, they only get 70% of the gold mined (you can see workers start giving you 7 gold instead of 10).
To better visualize the impact of this:
In other RTS games: You get 20 gold per second, your opponent gets 10 gold per second.
In WC3: You get 14 gold per second, your opponent gets 10 gold per second.
You only earn 40% more than them, and you have to spend resources to defend both bases.
Don't get me wrong, expansions are really good! But experienced players can sometimes prioritize units or items to creep faster and/or execute really strong timing attacks on 1 base.

Great game, your casting is most helpful as well. I am surprised Happy can survive so long vs T3 human and make it look close.. I thought game was over when Romantic got the Lich and Happy had to tavern revive..
HU vs UD has always been one of my favourite matchups.. even during the Infi mass tower and mass tank style. I still remember a game on Turtle Rock with Lucifer vs Reprisal where Reprisal had like 11-13 workshops and killed all ghouls of Luci and the undead had just the ability to build Necropolises to survive.. Fun times!

Wow, Romantic/Fortitude has really come a long way in the last several years, since I first saw him on casts by Crota; he improved a lot over the course of those, and now we see this.

Abombs + Fiends for AA might have been better than recommitting to destros + few gargs?
Heres my suggestion for orc: make healing ward t1 and sentry t2. Make healing ward give mana regen as well.

when the game first came out, it was only for ghouls. A patch update allowed the aboms to use it too. that was years ago.

crazy he had an expo for so long
So I used to mainly play Starcraft 2 and I need to ask the question. How in the world is it fair that Human had an expo most of the game and Undead didn’t and yet the game was so insanely close? Like is UD that OP or cheap? How is that even fair?
Basically it's not just about the gold, but also heroes being good at different stages of the game.
For instance archimage early on is probably the best hero in the game, which allowed human to both take an exp and also pressure undead, preventing him from taking the second base, however the more the game goes on the less powerful archimage becomes in comparison to many other first heroes, because his water elementals can be dispelled all the way up to the level 6, where he becomes extremely strong once again due. In addition to that undeads have an incredible timing attack that forces a human to turtle a lot, resulting in missing that income advantage for quite a while, which also gives an undead an opportunity to get even more ahead XP wise, resulting in their heroes becoming even better.
In any case, I'm still extremely surprised that this game lasted this long without undead even thinking of taking the second base.

i dont play rts, but maybe he didn't get gunpowder immediately to lull the opponent into thinking he is weaker than he actually is, and then later surprise him with a damage boost.

20:11 no, it IS state of the art, it's the best. WC3 is the GOAT of RTS graphics.
today a lot of people are mislead to think (and also because its being pushed) that the only thing that counts is graphic quality when its not, its artstyle and creativity, thats why a 2001 game still piss on most games today. Same reason why most people dont use the reforged layout of the game

I'm not a Happy fan, but this matchup is very imbalanced and unfair to Happy. Really, really difficult to stop human from exoanding and to counter-expo(water elementals way too strong and cancel expansion easily).
With expansion, Human gets tier 3 and UD doesn't really have a counter to knights + gyros. Gyros hard counter all UD air for little cost in food and gold, and there is pretty much nothing that UD can do Vs knights. They tried possesion, but breakers are also too good, and banshee pretty much a zero DPS unit.
Happy is 1,000,000X the player thatr Fortitude is, but alas, Blizzard couldn't care less about balancing at the pro level. When they do release patches, it's thinking about 4 Vs 4 since that's by far the most popular mode, with 95% of the World's 200,000 WC3 players playing 4 Vs 4 almost exclusive.
Blizzard doesn't care about a mode played by only 11,000 hardcores. 1 Vs 1 in WC3 is *too* intimidating for most players. They prefer custom games or 4 vs 4, which is b5asically League of Legends or DOTA2 with armies.
