Haven't been hiking in 10+ years, wanting to start again. I've been gearing up the past month. What are some relatively easy trails around this area to start? Last Trail I remember hiking was the Colberts Ridge Trail that leads to deep gap. pretty tough if I remember correctly.
Yeah that is a very difficult trail. Are you specifically looking to hike in the Black Mountains area? The Bald Knob Ridge Trail to Pinnacle is moderate. You can also do a loop in Mt Mitchell State Park starting at Stepps Gap. Check my site for some of those options www.hikingupward.com/
Well a lot of the waterfalls in the Wilson Creek area are not on hard trails, like Gragg Prong, North Harper Creek. and Harper Creek. I'd also suggest checking out some of the short hikes in Linville Gorge like Table Rock and Hawksbill.
Great views with lots of good formation Zach!
Thanks Bryan
The Black Mountains look nice from there and I believe that's the best angle of Mount Mitchell. That Stick Pic working out good for you.
It is one of the best vantage points
you know your peaks!
Yes sir I try to specialize in something since my editing and creativity are poor.

Not specifically Black Mountain, Linville and Grandfather are in my area as well.

Definitely agree with waterfall hikes to start.
can you reach the trail head with a Sedan Zachary ?
I have a small car, it's an easy drive I've done a lot over the years.
