I grew up there. Was born in Pike Co. Hospital. Most don't know it, but the "crater" is basically the town. All the land there south of town contains diamonds... there just aren't enough diamonds to make commercial mining viable. I played, fished and swam in Prairie creek (north of town of course... you locals will understand). I drive through once in a while. I miss Bray's (The Curve), Pizza Shack, Raymonds, and many other things. I'm so glad to see Hawkins still open on the square. And I will second that The Feed Bin is a great place to eat! Was sad to see the grocery burned. I'm hoping M'boro will have a new one soon!
Yes, we miss Kendra's Pizza Shack, too. We used to eat there a lot when we built our first house here 28 years ago. Murfreesboro is a nice town. Ceba Gas (old hardware store) is being transformed into a coffee shop. It should be open soon and will make a nice addition to the square. I hope you can come visit again soon. Thank you for watching my video and for commenting.
@@genuinediamondsinar3253 Great to hear. I'll check them out when I'm through next. When I was a teen and young adult, Kendra's parents ran the Pizza Shack ( _for the M'boro folks, I've found Shotgun Dan's in Little Rock is the closest in taste to the Pizza Shack_ ). When I was about five (1970 or so), my parents helped plant a church that became Trinity Missionary Baptist on Hwy 27. In the beginning, however, we met in the lobby of what is now the Ireland on the square. Can't remember what its name was at the time, but it was much larger to me then. At that time, the diner that was down the alleyway to the right of the Hotel's front door was open... and the barber shop. M'boro is a great little town. It's a shame it's not in a strategic location for industry. But, maybe that's what makes it nice.
Yes, that is where we used to sell diamonds but stopped a while back. I was surprised when a restaurant went in there. I have not eaten there yet but heard it is good.
I loved this video it is very interesting you did a great job of describing your lovely town.

@@nealwright5630 For a century "The Ireland" was called "The Conway Hotel."
Thank you for this, I was flad to find this for planning my trip. Now I don't know which hotel I want to stay at 😂
I was wondering where you and your wife used to have a shop. Already got my answer. Do you ever miss not having a shop anymore? Great tour! Thank you.
That Japanese sushi place is definitely new. I really like sushi, I get some at the grocery store near me when they have what I like
