I feel your pain. We raise sheep and only keep a couple beefs for our freezer; the cattle paddock is... rough.
I'm looking forward to seeing good rotation build up the soil!

Rotation has really helped our soil. Winter is just tough to manage through with mud and hay and feed…. My next video will be a comparison I did with unrolling hay vs bale grazing. Both have benefits and drawbacks. Thanks

@@stringerbridgefarm3201 I know a lot of folks argue for unrolling, but it's gonna be a long time before I do that. 🤣
Too much moisture by my reckoning where we're at. I'll just keep trying to drop round bales (always in a new area) around the rain.
      Hoping for y'all's continued success!

Are you feeding 30 head on one bail? If so it should be 3 bails. 1 per 10 head reduces impact on ground

Good news, my wife Jackie got the mud stains out of the oatmeal Henley shirt. And she laughed instead of being mad.

Could you roll out 1/2 bale at a time?

I’ve thought about it, but I can’t always get the tractor in the pasture to pick up the unused half. I’ve also thought about trying to put electric over the other half, but any of those things take time and come with other limitations. Thanks

Could you bale graze in dry weather but unroll the bales in wet weather or when wet weather is expected

I like the idea of what you suggest. In wet weather I can’t really get equipment on the field. I don’t have any experience with what the hay loss would be like if I unrolled before the rain. I never really thought about it but maybe if I found smaller bales that I could unroll on foot it may work

    greg judy bale unroller

That would be nice. I’ve done some experimenting with unrolling bales, but I do it by hand. It’s not too bad, but I’m only feeding about a bale every other day for about 2 months.
