I was at this performance and it was magical. I remember feeling like "I can tell what he is about to do but I don't believe it!". What was left out of this recording is that this was just weeks after 9/11 and practically blocks away from ground zero. a woman came out to announce him before he came on and said "Victors birthday was on 9/11 and rather than com e out and talk about how the day felt for him he wrote a song about it". Then he came out and played this! it was very moving. I imagined that the start is his day starting off nice and happy then as he detunes the strings and starts the banging is the buildings collapsing then the finish well that was just amazing. This is amazing in itself but knowing the meaning made it that much more special.
jesse citron I often find after some time has passed I find the inspiration behind a song I like (or perhaps a song that didn’t really grab me) and it makes me love the song. I didn’t know anything about 9/11 being Vic’s bday. Your interpretation of the song makes all the sense in the world.
I met Mr. Victor Wooten today! He bravely departed my airplane to do his first tandem parachute jump! He is a musical and Bass Guitar Prodigy! I was flying on his birthday in 2001. Life has changed, but we are all in this together, forever...His talent promotes positivity and hope!
it's like starts in a beautiful life and gets complicated and destroyed but in the end you get back on your feet and feel better again beautiful and happy ending.
victor seems like such a stand up guy and doesnt have a big head at all which he could cause he's mind blowing on bass. how does this have any dislikes? are ppl nuts? everything he does is like drugs for your ears. victor is awesome.
What I cannot understand is how Show Of Hands barely has 100k views on youtube can someone explain to me how Victor is so well known and so highly under played???
Es increíble la capacidad de desafinar por completo el bajo y volverlo a afinar a la perfección sin necesidad de usar un afinador,ni siquiera usar los armónicos ni usar el quinto traste para afinar la siguiente cuerda!! Es para flipar...
Totally thought you wrote "bottom" rather than "broom." Would have been both punny and true (hip bone for those who aren't "hip " with the crumby joke)!
at the 12 min mark victor gets a sour look on his face. it probably smelt terrible in that place cause i bet everyone in the audience shit themselves. that was unbelievable...
I love slap bass and I play a fair bit of that myself but when you make something as beautiful as this?? slapping just ruines the overall sound and experience.
This song is called Reminiscence and you can find the studio version on the Flecktones' "Little Worlds" album.
Thank you so much

jesse citron thank you for sharing this!
The Flecktones later made a version of this song, titled "Reminiscence", on their 2003 release Little Worlds. Epic stuff right here.
Wow, your reply on this video is truly an enrichment to the piece.
That is amazing that people were even able to go on with their lives that close to the heart of the tragedy.
2022 and still amazed to this performance and musicality

Seriously brings tears to the eyes. Very moving and powerful performance.
Especially if you know why he wrote this song.
@@Marisolita_95 why did he wrote this song
@@piyushsharma3991 He wrote this song for 9/11. For instance, the section he's banging the strings, that part describes how the buildings collapsed.
@@piyushsharma3991 9/11. Which is also his birthday
Im going to do this every time I tune up.
Now that's slapping bass on a whole other level. He turned he bass guitar into a drum wow.
So glad this is back on the Tube as a complete video. Unparalleled Victor genius.
My Favorite Bass Player Of All Time In one of his best performances.
Yes my favorite too. Have you noticed he's not as accurate and creative in his playing nowadays. I'm wondering why?

One of the best bass videos I've ever seen. Amazing.
My favorite bass player of all time. One of my favorite musicians as well.
Brilliant start love it
One of the best composition on a bass ever in my opinion... So moving! And I suspect he's not even using a tuner when he finishes the song!
I think he has perfect pitch.
@@CianaCorto he doesn’t. I’ve seen footage of him do this in other shows, he’s pretty much guessing for the most part

Thanks for the video! spent months looking for it again!
It's like he's using his bass to perform some kind of black magic, but it's the greatest thing ever.

Gotta love his "of course I was gonna tune it back" face..."it´s me Victa.." (at the end of the tune...)

Because people most likely have bought more physical copies. I have a vinyl edition of show of hands.

Reminiscence
A beautiful illustration of 9/11 through the bass guitar.
That bass was never the same.....it had to go to support groups after that defiling.
Does anyone know the name of this song?
thank you!
Sérgio Souza Reminiscence. I think it is in an album with The Flecktones.
Many thanks friend!
