I just bought this brand new. I noticed that the regulator post is different from the ones I'm seeing in videos. On older models, it appears that the regulator snaps onto the vent post. Mine just has a smooth metal post. The instructions say to place the regulator on the vent pipe and it will be loose, which it is. It's so loose that steam is venting out the entire time the machine is canning. This makes it a much noisier process than other videos show it to be. This seems wrong...Is anyone else having this problem?

I was pressure canning ham and bean soup in my presto digital canner when the power went out. what do I do?!!!!

How do you get the regulator off? I’ve tried pulling and twisting. It won’t come off.

I'm well aware it's not recommended, but what would happen if I water bath canned/steam canned with quarts?
Reason I'm asking is because I'd prefer apple pie filling in quart jars.
You cannot water bath quart jars in this canner because it’s simply not tall enough. Quart jars are too tall to allow for the 1-2” of water to go above the jars. I know quarts can’t be water bathed in this unit but what about pint and a half jars?
Pint and a half jars are simply too tall (as are quart jars) to water bath with the digital canner. Only pints and half pints can be safely water bathed. Pint and a half jars as well as quart jars can be pressure canned with the 02144 Presto® digital canner. If we can help you further, please feel free to reach out to Presto Customer Service. They contradicted themselves below. Pints and half pints can be safely water bathed.
If anyone else had troubles grokking this on first read: the question is about jars that hold 1.5 pints each, not about both 1 pint and 0.5 pint jars. You should not use 1.5 pint jars with boiling canning in this unit.
Is this canner tall enough to water bath can quarts?
You may water bath pints and half pints. It is not tall enough to water bath quart jars. However, you may pressure can quart jars. how come she pulls out 8 pints, when the canner only holds 7
may be a difference between wide mouth and regular mouth jars.
It holds 8. You can count them at 2:21
oh, I see, she is using regular mouth pints which are smaller
