Vespa is introduced in India as a premium lifestyle product targetting urban affluent youth segment. Hence they adopted premium pricing category. Prices are kept artificially high inorder to create perception among customers so that it can be associated with luxury!
So when one buys Vespa it's the price for physical product + intangible image of Vespa brand.
However, they are reasonably priced in India, but we have equally good scooters like Activa, Access 125, Maestro and Dio,they aren't any less of Italian Vespa sophistication.
