@@shirleymeyle3702 Hello Shirley, this is how you can make it bigger by adding more rows:
For Round 4, you can continue to increase the number of stitches by adding one dc between each increase from the previous round.
Round 4: Ch 3 (don't count as 1 dc), [dc 2, 2 dc], repeat to the end of the round. (48)
Round 5: Ch 3 (don't count as 1 dc), [dc 3, 2 dc], repeat to the end of the round. (60)
You can continue this pattern of adding one dc between each increase in each subsequent round to make your circle larger.

Can I use acrylic yarn for these ?

You can, but acrylic is not good for absorbing heat or liquids so it's not ideal for coasters.

Written instructions are a tad different??? Not chain to but chain 3
