This is U2 (you too). From Ireland. The biggest rock band in the world for decades. The longest running band with the same members in history. Still putting out great music and selling out stadiums around the world. Great reaction. As usual with U2, the song has meaning on several levels. U2 is a band from Dublin Ireland that have been making awesome music since the 70’s. They are amazing and sound even better live. Bono (lead singer) has an incredible voice and is also a tremendous humanitarian, taking his time using his platform constantly trying to help people around the world less fortunate than himself. This song is off of the album The Joshua Tree which is IMO one of the greatest albums ever made. If you ever get a chance please go see them live. I have been to over 20 U2 concerts and have never been disappointed.

I accompany the development of U2 - great wide music and topics spectrum - , first discovered a report about the special Red Rocks Concert 1983 near Chicago, after this or of cause this concert U2 were engaged by German TV for the Rockpalast Loreley Open Air, that had fascinated me immense; they lived for their music and their lyrics, full energy and devotion. After then I visited every tour except the last.
I like if young persons react without knowing details about the group (I'm not a fan of U2 - knowing not much about their lives - , but a fan of good music). then I can overthink my opinion and discover new things.
I'm totally aggred with Christian R. if you have the desire and time, the gospel version (of album Rattle & Hum) is unique.
For Christmas time the songs "Angel of Harem" (U2 have also a song " Christmas, Baby please come home", not well know, special) and the hymn "New Year's Day" (f.i brilliant sound in Red Rocks live version; lyrics with Polish background, but not necessary to know) are ideal, otherwise the masterpiece "One", the video - touch me every time - or the version "One" in coporation with the brilliant voice of Mary J. Blige.

I saw them perform this song live at their 360 Tour at the Rose Bowl in Southern California. They made a DVD of that show, you should find this performance live from that show. It's amazing. He let us sing the entire first verse of the song!

They have been the biggest band on the planet for well over 30 years,have had countless hits, have won far more Grammy awards than any other band in history and their concerts are absolutely legendary, their lead singer Bono is known world wide for his humanitarian and charity work, Christ girl where have you been???

U2 is amazing, they have so many powerful songs. Here's an iconic performance of *BAD* , which is about drug addiction. They performed it at LIVE AID, which was a 16-hour long concert with every popular music artist. It was very hot, they had to spray fire hoses into the crowd to keep them from passing out and people were getting crushed up front by the stage. @@drakeswarchannel2530 my friend, this song came out in may 1992, despite being called "one" it has 3 music videos. In the first one, directed by Mark Pellington was inspired by the photographer David Wojnarowic s shots about bison jumping off a cliff in the context of his fight against AIDS... so one of the said meanings of the song could be the story of a dad and his homosexual son who is battling AIDS. Though in an interview, Bono dismissed this theory. In the second video we see the father balancing on a swing which led to believe that the meaning of the song could be the conflict between Bono and his father, like a metaphor. While in the third video, we see Bono in a bar when a girl appears in the shots, so there could be another meaning. My thoughts on the song dont change but the best thing is creating your own thoughts, not just listening to the song and stopping there. Wish you happy holidays.
