    "From the kitty?"
    So freakin' funny. DVD's comic delivery is everything.

    Dick van Dyke is a genius, he belongs in the same group, as other greats, for example, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Sir Charles Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Peter Sellers, etc

    I wait tables and my job gets me so wound up I sleep 4 hours every night for the whole five days. By the time the end of my week comes around, I feel like this. This is one of Dick’s best performances, right up there with trying to find Marge in his jacket 🤣🤣

      I know…I learned from working in retail that you can drink whatever form of caffeine you want to keep yourself so buzzed/wired to stay awake' but it’s never the same quality of being awake as if you’d actually gotten enough good sleep. And yes, there will come a point where your cognitive ability will be as/more impaired as/than an intoxicated person. Awake is not the same as alert, safe or fully functional.

    Early 60's comedy? No, an ACTING mint comedian, and par company. Perennial. Up with Charlie Chaplin and friends, only stronger. Can NOT get enough. Breath of fresh air, now. Today, his conception of life, now in 2023, captivates me. True humble icon.

      Portrayed by the talented Fred C. Clarke, who had played many a humorous role in film and on television. He often played corrupt or bombastic minor authority figures like movie executives or bankers, often with a cynical edge to them. His movies include "Sunset Boulevard" and "How to Marry a Millionaire". He was the first, and in my opinion, the best Harry Morton, George Burns' friend and neighbor on "The Burns and Allen Show', opposite his wife Blanche, played by the fabulous Bea Benaderet.

    I was a young man when this show was on the air and I remember this episode being one of the motivations for me to go into radio announcing. The few stations where I worked were always trying silly promo stunts like this. I never had to stay awake as a promotion, but on a few occasions I had to work between 72 and 96 hours in a row bouncing between all nights on the FM side and weekend duties on the AM side. I wouldn’t change it for the world though because I met my wife while working as a DJ and went on to have four great kids.

    Imagine being 23 and she has the perfect face, body, personality for TV and no one else could have been Laura Petrie. She could dancer and sing but wasnt a dancer and singer. She was in showbiz but didnt act showbizzie (as Grant Tinker described her). Mary was authentic on screen and off and the public fell in love with her....and the chemistry between dick and mary was unlike anything ever seen on television before because they didnt have a dysfunctional marriage like I love Lucy or the Honeymooners...and they had that young love of a newly married couple...unlike say ozzie and harriet and other tv shows.

    • @preetakumar6593
      @preetakumar6593 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      100 hours challenge itself is a stupid act for publicity. Laura was rightfully concerned about his health, and when she saw him he clearly was not in his right state of mind and body. Her breakdown in the department store when she comes to see him pretty much sums it up. She goes from being unwilling to kiss him in front of everyone to not caring that they can see her breakdown.

    • @nsme1965
      @nsme1965 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think Laura was affected seeing the state he was in, crying, tired and not in his right mind. Which is why she breaks down as well. This episode shows how much she loves and cares for him.

      I have no idea what you watched but it wasn't this episode. While DVD has definitely done drunk bits in the show this episode had nothing to do with drinking...he was sleep deprived.
      Edit: And if you mean because DVD & MTM are & were (when alive) alcoholics...neither was at the time (they were still social drinkers) & even if they were, neither EVER drank before or on the job. So either your comment was ridiculous or judgemental...or ridiculous AND judgemental! They BOTH conquered their alcoholism & should be lauded about it; not called names & have their wonderful work disparaged!
