Love seeing your WIPS! It’s a perfect Cyber Monday day to watch because I ordered some after seeing yours. And I’m exactly like you, I literally have to pick out everything and rarely fudge anything. It drives me crazy knowing it’s off, so I’ll pick it all out and/or ditch it and restart. We’re also similar that every retreat I go to, at first it’s hard for me to walk in. I’m not one to walk in and feel comfortable. I end up having so much fun though and glad I did. Having my own room at the hotel is a big help for me too. I can go up, take a break, and then head back down when I want. If you ever want a friend to go with, let me know! I’m always on the East coast, so we can brave it and go in together ❤
Stacy you’re the best! Thank you so much for watching! I’m glad I was able to enable you to get some great charts. Now if I can just finish them all. LOLOLOLOL
Hey Melanie. You have just beautiful stitching and loving your WIPs. Can’t believe you are going restart the soda stitch piece but I agree that if you don’t like the fabric then no point in continuing with it. I just looked and thought awww you did so much on it. It will all be worth it in the end though. Looking forward to doing YOW with you next year xx
Hiiiiii Bonnie! Yeah the Soda Stitch piece has got to go. If you saw it in person you would say the same thing probably. I’m so glad you watch and support my channel! Thank you for the love!!
Love the projects you’ve chosen for your countdown to 50. I’m no bird had me gasping at how tiny it is, no way could I stitch on 56 count. Kudos to you ❤ . I don’t think I’ll be joining in year of wips as I only have 10 projects altogether and some of those are BIG 😊 but I just wanted to say for the UK, 123 stitch does ship here, so that would work for UK stitchers too. Happy stitching x
Before you ‘trash’ the discolored piece, try mixing up a cold water solution with the blue Dawn dish washing liquid. Put the piece in a shallow pan with the solution and let it sit for a few minutes then agitate it concentrating on those discolored spots. Rinse it several times, roll it up in a towel and press excess water out of it. Spread it out flat to air dry. After it drys check it for the spots. If it’s not whiter, if you still are irritated with it, I’d put it in a coffee/tea solution to soak and dye. I hate to see your beautiful work wasted.
It's wonderful to see you again. Thanks for all you do for this community. I hear so many people do the 25/7--genius! I feel truly sad that you would throw away that gorgeous project. I agree with the people encouraging you to wash it; if I remember, it uses DMC. But of course you must do what is right for you. Maybe you would want to find someone to adopt it! I want to join year of WIPS. I only have 9, but that qualifies me!
There are plenty of retailers in the UK that offer gift certificates, just ask the winner what their favourite shop is. 123 stitch also ships to the Uk at a reasonable rate.
Hi. Year of Wips has been such an insensitive for me this year. Thank you for coming up with it. I'll be looking forward to 50 by 50 for the next few years. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Hiiiiii Thank you so much for arching and I’m so glad that the year of WIP’s has helped you this year! Thank you for being my champion and promoting my groups and events. Happy Thanksgiving and Thank you for watching and supporting.
I wish I could join in on the 50 by 50, but I am a little older than you. I turn 50 in September of 2024. I enjoyed the Year of WIPs this year and already have my 14 picked out for 2024. Great projects.❤❤
Hi Melanie - I attended my first retreat at the weekend and loved it! I am very shy but everybody made me feel included. I will be doing the year of wips which may see some of the older ones getting worked on so thank you for hosting this. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family 😊
I don't have it, but I always like to see One Nation. I like the Margaret Harris piece. I like Gathering Snowflakes. I have Gathering Berries. I need to order the others. I will follow you on Instagram. Year of WIP's is a really nice idea! Love your projects and beautiful stitching! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving 🧡
You have some gorgeous pieces from start to stop! That last piece why not wash it in cold water with a color catcher to see if it goes back to white to salvage it ? Thanks for a wonderful video. Great to see you again. Okay not the last piece but close to it. Have a great thanksgiving.
Hi Melanie! Thanks for sharing your lovely progress! I can see that you like samplers ;). They are beautiful! So happy that you will do the Year of WIPs next year! It was so much fun this year. Pam of Just Keep Stitchin' is doing 24 new starts on 2024. I was thinking of doing 24 finishes next year. And then I'm like do I really want to set that goal THAT high. Then I said well I'm going to have at least 15 "planned" starts so maybe I can do my 24 in 24 as 15 starts and 9 finishes. I'm trying to dwindle down my starts from last year when I started 55 projects. Still in the planning phase. I went to my first retreat in May 2021. I had already met a few of the ladies because I started going to a group that met at a Starbucks every other week (I told myself I would forget my shyness that day and go see what it was about and if I didn't like it then I wouldn't go again). Everyone welcomed me and I have enjoyed it. I went again this past May and a lady was there that was attending for the first time and we made her feel like we already knew her. I say go ahead and attend one on a smaller scale or if you have an LNS that has a stitching group that meets every so often, start there. The stitching community is a great community. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Thank you so much for watching! I definitely want to take the plunge and go to a retreat. 55 starts is awesome! Are you able to keep up with them? How are you feeling so far?
@@thesoulfulstitcher2123 Yes, sign up for a retreat. My goal was to start one every Monday (that gave me 52) and then one on my Mom's, my Dad's, and my birthday to get me to 55. I didn't get to start one every Monday because of different things going on, but I made up for it the following week or so. I don't do a certain stitch count to make it count as start. If I stitch 100 stitches or one stitch, it's a start to me :). I now have 26 of the 55 finished. It feels good to get another one finished.
Happy thanksgiving Melanie. I’m looking forward to watching your progress on all your planned projects. I’m also very glad that you are doing year of WIPs again as it’s made me much more productive. The magazine monthly challenge prompts face really helped as well. I’m getting read to post my 2023 finishes from YOW and now I’m going to have to start planning which WIPs I want to focus on for next year!
Always love Your videos! Im sorry I didn't do year of wips this year but would like to next year. Would love to meet you at a retreat sometime. Went to my first ones this year ( stitch north and sweata weatha) and had so Much fun! Thanks for sharing all your beautiful stitching!
So glad I found your channel. The 911stitcher mentioned you. You have beautiful projects but did give me heart failure when you said you cut the fabric! That has always been my biggest fear! God bless you for just keep going girl 😂. Look forward to future videos. Keep us posted!
I’m so happy you’ll be doing Year of WIPS again next year! I’ve had so much success this year. The international people will definitely help you figure out a good place for gift certificates (I sometimes do Etsy also for international winners). Also, I love your Countdown to 50! Since I turn 50 just 2 months after you, do you mind if I join you? I am starting EVERYTHING right now and could use a good push to finish 50 projects!
Hi! I'm new to your channel. I absolutely love the projects you've picked out! It's going to be such an amazing challenge for you. Looking forward to the year of wips. 😊
Hi, nice to meet you! I just found you from CZook’s video. I met her, Dena and Donna at the 2023 GaRon retreat. I would love to join you for the 2024 Year of WIPS. I have subscribed here and will go request to join your FB group. My only concern is figuring out how to set up an “album” to post my WIP photos. I’ll look for instructions.
Hi! It’s nice to meet you as well! Thank you for watching and subscribing! It will be a pleasure to have you join along and stitch all the WIP’s! Happy Stitching
Hi Melanie! Just a note to say I’m a new viewer, I can’t remember which Flosstuber recommended you but I think it might have been 911 Stitcher. Anyway, I’m blown away by all your beautiful WIPs. I’m going to try your challenge.
Hi Melanie….always love your videos. I just finished the prairie schooler harvest you’re starting. So cute. I rarely change colors too…. I’m not good at that either. I may have asked you before but are all your higher count fabrics stitched one over one? That has to be hard but so beautiful. I’m in this year’s Year of WIPS but I don’t think I’ll make my goal of 6 out of 12…. we’ll see, we still have time. I did get stuff done though. I like the 2024 idea you have. I would love to go to retreats too but like you a bit of an introvert…. Till you get to know me. Lol!
Hiiiii! Thank you for watching and supporting! On my higher count fabrics I usually stitch 1 over 2. It’s ok if you don’t make The Year of WIP’s this year there’s always next year. Happy Stitching
Good to see you back! Lots of pretty projects in the works! That's a shame about Sky Blue Street, that was always one of my favorite ones that you were working on in the past. Have you tried a Tide To Go marker/pen on the spots? That's just so much work to discard. Look forward to seeing you again in the future! PS - I haven't done a retreat yet either, but I sure would love to! (Especially one that is on a cruise!) Happy Thanksgiving!
Sky Blue Street is a wonderful project but I think it will look better on the blue fabric. It is one of my favorite projects too! Thank you for watching.
I LOVE the woman you’re stitching. Did you get it from ETSY, or an LYS? I’m hearing a “chirping” in the background. I bet it’s coming from your smoke detector!
Lololololol@smoke detector! All woman is a pattern I bought from the designer back in 2014. I’m not sure if she is still around. Thank you so much for watching.

Sharon you are so sweet! Thank you for the kind words and for supporting me! Thank you my friend
Come on! I survived my first retreat! If you make it to Queen City, I WILL take care of you!! 💝

Question about the Year of Wips… if I upload more than 8 projects, do I have to finish half. Or is 4 just the minimum requirement for the drawing?
4 is the minimum requirement for the drawing! You are more then welcome to do more then that.
