This is great review that I wish all new players/ player parents could see. Starting out, the pocket is the most important thing for player success, and a good factory pocket makes or breaks a beginner stick. We have a couple of the STX stallion 50 that as shown in the review. They were OK, but the pocket breaks down over time. I could not agree more about the stringking pockets. They come out of the box and are ready to play in less than 5 minutes. I have spent hours on the soft STX Stallion 50 pockets trying to keep the ball rolling off the lip properly. I was helping out coaching one of my son's middle school team, and encountered the Under Armor next gen. The pocket on that thing is awful. I don't think it is possible to get the shooting strings set up for a clean release on that pocket. I also noticed that one player has a more recent versions of the STX stallion 50, and it has an even softer mesh than the one reviewed here in 2020, so they are even harder to maintain. He can catch and cradle with the Stallion, but can not throw. If you are are looking for a beginner stick, the stringking sticks have such good factory pockets, that I don't think you can beat them for a factory strung first stick.
So I’m a freshman about 5,7 I’ve play around with my friends and family but I want to play for high school what do you recommend for straight up game playing and school practice
Hi Patrick. My 13 year old son is interested in starting lacrosse. He has been a high level hockey player so he is used to handling sticks. He is 5'4" and about 140 lbs, very athletic and strong as an ox. My question is this. Should I start him off with a shorter stick which will be easier for him or go to a regular adult length stick ? Because he plays defense in hockey, I imagine he will gravitate to being a defensive player in lacrosse which I understand uusally uses a longer stick. What would be your suggestion ? Thanks
I am an advocate of learning to control the stick with a short stick and moving to Defense later, but it’s all about feel. I would cut down a D-pole to be about the same height as he is and that should be a great middle ground for him to work with.
@@POWLAX Thanks Patrick. I actually found your other video "So Your Kid Wants to Play Lacrosse" where you covered this topic more at length. We'll go with your recommendations. Thanks again. Great videos BTW.
Could anyone help me out i want to get the Powell scout but it says it is youth on Amazon or on the official website and I’m 11 so don’t know if i should still get it
i noticed that Powell has added a new complete named the switchback that is in the same $100 price range as the ECD and String king sticks. I'm the captain of my HS lacrosse team and am trying to figure out what to suggest to the new players, but we are a low-income chool so i'm trying to keep it to the $100 sticks and below. Whats ur reccomendation?
Any of those 3 will be great. The StringKing INT would be my #1 out of those. I’d also make sure to have players check any local play it again sports or sideline swap for complete stock deals.
No, for you I would recommend the string king senior if you want to go to Stringking route. I would definitely do something that’s mid to top of the line, not the low beginner end.
Awesome info - you nailed the issue with the under armor stick. Very frustrating for a beginner.

Hi! apologies if I understand something wrong (spanish speaker), but I haven't see the stx stallion 200, is it bad :(? thanks for your video
It’s not a bad stick, but it must be restrung. The factory stringing isn’t consistent.
What’s the difference between the stringking complete 2 intermediate and the senior version, and which should I get for highschool lacrosse
The quality of the shaft and the head. You can use either for HS Lacrosse. The INT will break before the SR does.
Is it too late to start playing lacrosse my sophomore year of high school?
Not at all, lacrosse is something you can play for life! You're still early! Don't get discouraged if you're not the best right away, just have fun!
Nah bro it’s not too late. Im in my sophomore year and it’s my first time playing and I absolutely love it
How did it go? Im starting my senior year lol might be a bit too late
I can’t believe you aren’t as popular as ecd.
I can... they make incredibly entertaining videos! Most of my videos are more coach centric. Thanks though!

Whichever cheap Powell stick will work.

Is a 30 inch lacrosse stick to short for someone who 5’7
So, the shaft will be 30-32” why the head and is perfect for all players once they get to adult sticks.
I am 12 im trying to start lacrosse im thinking about getting a stick how many inches should it be thanks
40/42" Regular Size.
Hey, im about to be a junior in high school. Would you still recommend the Strike King Complete? will it last 2 years? I’m completely new to lax
No, for you I would recommend the string king senior if you want to go to Stringking route. I would definitely do something that’s mid to top of the line, not the low beginner end.
@@POWLAX Is the senior a good choice? or do you have another good recommendation for that mid to top line stick?
still playing?
