    I hated the jerkiness of the stop-start when at a light.. all I could see was the dollar signs of future dollar repairs every time it happened. So I decided to purchase this & finally got some time set aside to install it. A few good pointers.. the pry tool supplied broke under little pressure.. luckily I had a metal one (it has a screwdriver handle) with an “elbow” on it & a ball on the elbow from a trim removal kit via Amazon, this was way better.. used it with a microfiber cloth under it to pry the 1st piece off in front of the center console.. I was very apprehensive on doing this piece do it bending a lot while prying it up! Prying up the cup holder was easy.. used the same tool on that & so was the smartphone charger. I am very happy with this product & would recommend it to anyone.. it works as advertised!
    Thanks guys @ IdleStopper! ✌🏼

    Your video is excellent, took about 10 minutes on a new 2024 RL. I did snap a pin off the console, so be patient prying it off. First piece was difficult as well. Mine did not come with a pry tool, but got a set on Amazon and they worked fine. I now have a normal vehicle.

    This appears to be the Passport that video that was also posted recently.. I know this because the instrument cluster did not change in the Passport from 2023 to 2024. The 2024 Ridgeline instrument cluster is half digital LCD (left side) & analog of the right side where the speedometer is.
    With the that being said.. the consoles are the exact same in both models for 2024.
    I’m glad the TS trim is simpler than the lower trims(see Passport video already posted) & the lower front of the dash does not have to be disassembled.

    After much apprehension and thinking, I finally installed mine today. The small piece of trim in the 1st step was a pain to remove. It would release on 1 side but not both at the same time. Those little plastic clips are tough buggers. But, installed and works like advertised.

    Works as advertised except for the installation. I have all the plastic body clip tools and it was still a PIA. The plastic tool they put in the kit is a waste of time so throw it in the trash or you will be very frustrated. For the money they charge they could get a decent panel tool to use. Go very slowly and if you have a tablet or laptop to watch as you work it will help unless your memory is better than mine. I almost forgot to plug the led light in the shifter housing so double check before you lock it in place. There are a couple of other methods to turn the light off but this one is cleaner IMHO but pricey for what you get albeit they have the only kit. I agree with many of the others at the end of the day it is cheaper than the potential worn out parts to be replaced later. The little bit of gas that you may save is not worth it, if gas is an issue than buy a bicycle. I hope they make one for my 2024 Lexus RX350.

    The included pry bar is junk , throw it away. I ended up damaging the trim piece because it was in so tight, wholly crud. But once off the shifter trim gave me almost as much grief. Sheesh. I used the included pry bar and broke it 3 times, really. Other tools to the rescue. The installation literally took 2 minutes.
    That initial trim took about an hour OMG. The gloss black trim is horrible so I might look at replacing it with the Trail sport trim on the Black Edition. Now that it works, one less thing to think about after starting. The trim clips got a little saddle soap for lube.
    Waiting for mail lady to show up with S-VCM hopefully an easier install.

    I'm at least glad Honda didn't make the off light amber and in your face like my 2020, it's white and just an informational icon instead of looking like something might be wrong. Now, they just need to make it default to off, which they won't do because of fuel economy requirements for how they market the vehicle. Still really stupid, just give us a hybrid Ridgeline/Pilot/Passport, Honda!!!

    Very good in detailed video I'm just wondering I'm not too familiar with wiring but what if you would have just disconnected the the idle switch and your shifter panel just unhooked it then there would be no power going to the button would not work the same play way?

      @idlestopper7486  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Unplugging and leaving disconnected or removing a wire from the connection will cause an error message to display and a warning light on the dash. Honda didn’t make it that easy unfortunately. Glad you like the video and thanks for watching!

    The video is NOT the video of a 2024 Ridgeline. what is the installation did not work? will the dealer fix it? Still under warranty?

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This video was shot on a 24 Passport. The interior disassembly process is exactly the same as the 24 Ridgeline which is why it wasn’t necessary to shoot a completely separate video.
      The installation process and idlestopper module work flawlessly on both the Ridgeline and Passport. The idlestopper does not affect any vehicle electronics or reprogram anything. If the module is unplugged, the vehicle will return to it’s factory state automatically. The idlestopper was designed even in a failure scenario to NOT damage the vehicle or cause any problems.
      As far as warranty is concerned your vehicle warranty will not be affected and at most the dealer could deny warranty repairs for the parts that the idlestopper module is directly attached to which is the idle stop off switch and the wireless charging pad, that’s it. The entire rest of your warranty cannot be affected and will remain completely intact and covered.

      All 2024-2025 Ridgeline trim levels should have wireless charging.
      If your ridgeline is a 2020-2023, This video is specifically for the 2024-2025 years. We do have another video for the 2020-2023 Ridgeline here:

    Our RTL didn’t have the light connector so there were only 3 instead of 4 total connectors to disconnect, idle stop switch, shifter switch and charger. The indicator on the RTL display is in a different place. Otherwise pretty much the same as the video. Once panels are removed the entire process took just a couple of minutes.

    How does this affect the vehicles warranty? If I take it in for service by Honda, do I need to uninstall it?

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your interest!
      The Idlestopper will NOT void your full warranty, the manufacturer isn’t allowed to void your entire warranty for the use of aftermarket parts legally because of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act law that was passed in 1975. At most, the dealer could deny a warranty diagnosis/repair claim on the connected to parts as they are connected directly to the idlestopper device. All other vehicle systems and parts would still be fully protected under your normal warranty and cannot be affected by you installing the module into your vehicle. The Idlestopper does not reprogram or change any vehicle settings. It simply presses the off button for you.
      Aftermarket parts are a normal part of the industry and manufacturers know it. Customers use many after market parts on their NEW vehicles:
      -Phone and usb adapters
      -drive cameras
      -radar scanners
      -wiper blades
      -tires
      -wheels
      These are just a few of the things that, by the above standard, can technically “void” parts of your warranty in a similar fashion to the idlestopper.
      Example;
      If a phone charger adapter that you got from eBay shorts out and damages your power socket or fuse in your car then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs needed. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage to that specific repair.
      Example;
      If the Idlestopper shorts out and blows the power socket fuse in your vehicle then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair.
      Example;
      If you put aftermarket tires and wheels on your new car and have issues with balance or vibration then the manufacturer isn’t going to cover the repairs if they are needed to the wheels or tires. Does not void warranty, just denied coverage for that specific repair.
      There’s no need to uninstall our product for dealer service. It’s out of the way and will be unaffected by software updates or any repairs. The module would not even be noticeable unless it was somehow causing a problem to occur in your vehicle.
      Also, one simple trick to “disable” the idlestopper module is to remove the 12v console power socket (cigarette lighter port) fuse. Once this fuse is removed, battery power to the 12v socket and to the idlestopper module will be turned off. This will return the vehicle to a normal factory state and the idlestopper module will not function until the fuse is put back in.
      My apologies for the long response but I wanted to give you as much information as possible.

    I have a 2024 Ridgeline Black edition and just got the new Idlestopper for it. I cannot get that first trim piece to pop up. I’ve used a crazy amount of force, tried twisting and it won’t budge. Anyone have any idea how to remove it without destroying the plastic? It definitely doesn’t remove as easily as they portray in this video.

    • @idlestopper7486
      @idlestopper7486  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The trim piece you’re referring to does just unclip in the upward direction. The test vehicle we used didn’t require any excessive force or anything so yours shouldn’t be too difficult. I know some vehicles depending on assembly person/date can come apart more difficult than others from experience, but there’s really no spots to pry on in that area aside from the factory access hole. The factory manual picture is in the video at the step of removing that trim and it shows only a small hook used to remove that piece. Definitely don’t want you to break anything so take your time and keep trying. One suggestion is to turn the heat on and make the interior as hot as you can to soften up the plastic trim clips in hopes that it will come out easier.

      Yep I finally did and the only way I could do it was to use a crowbar. I just stuck a little corner of the crowbar into the slot of the trim piece at an angle. Of course I put down a towel under the crowbar and I still had to pry HARD with the crow bar to get it off. I almost just stopped because I was afraid it was just going to snap the trim piece but then last second it popped off. Once that trim piece came off I was able to remove the other two pieces but even they were pretty tight. Installing the Idlestopper itself was a breeze and it works like a charm! I love it!
